WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY?
- the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and used of the
technical means and interrelation in life, society and the environment, drawing
upon such subjects as industrial arts engineering applied science and pure
science.
WHAT IS HEALTH?
- Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well- being and not
merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
A. Psychological effects
- Overuse or dependence on technology may have adverse psychological
effects, including:
1. Solation
- technologies, such as social media, are designed to bring people
together, yet they may have the opposite effect in some cases.
2. Depression and anxiety
- People who had more positive interactions and social support on
these platforms appeared to have lower levels of depression and
anxiety.
B. Physical health effects
-Technology use may increase the risk of physical issues as well, including:
1. Eyestrain
- Technologies, such as handheld tablets, smartphones, and
computers, can hold a person’s attention for long periods. This
may lead to eyestrain.
2. Poor posture
- The way many people use mobile devices and computers may also
contribute to incorrect posture. Over time, this may lead to
musculo skeletal issues.
3. Sleep problems
- Using technology too close to bedtime may cause issues with sleep.
This effect has to do with the fact that blue light, such as the light
from cell phones, e-readers, and computers, stimulates the brain.
