As we look to 2021, our north star will be; ensuring that community
philanthropy is widely appreciated as a pathway to authentic community-led
development in Uganda. Relatedly, we want to promote local giving and
support corporate and individuals to engage in organized giving.

Our Strategy
We are a grassroots development fund, that leverages grantmaking, community
philanthropy, and capacity support to advance community-led development. Our
long‐term ambition is to advocate for grassroots-led development, by ensuring that local
informal and formal civil society can access the financial and capacity resources they
need to deliver high-impact locally relevant programming. Through small grants, we
hope to support communities build social capital, and be civically engaged.
COVID Response
When the pandemic broke out in March last year, our main strategy was driven by the
need to support vulnerable groups and communities to respond to the pandemic. We
moved to mobilize resources that would support our local actors and partners to
respond to the social-economic impacts of the pandemic. It's critical that grassroots
institutions are supported to respond to the needs of their constituents. These are
usually the first point of contact for local people and their ability to respond effectively,
allows for more trust and collaboration.

Grantee Spotlight
Grantmaking is one of our strategic interventions to catalyze collective action
and unlocking grassroots agency. Our process of grant-making is flexible and
responsive to grantee needs than advancing our agenda as a grantmaker.
Overall, the grants are aimed at helping to unlock the local potential to mobilize
and develop assets, build group dynamics and respond to locally relevant issues,
and supporting the building of social capital for continued collective action. We
do not believe in competitive grant-making and our grants allow for more
flexibility and responsiveness to grantee priorities.
Our People
We are a community of passionate community advocates. We did not
start out to become a large NGO, as we treasure our freedom more
than anything. We do not want to fit anyone’s box, but rather be
flexible and responsive to communities and their needs
Youth Exchange
Community Innovation Centre
We have secured property in Iganga, in Eastern Uganda,
where we hope to establish a community innovation
center. The center will allow for community members to
have access to resources including; a health information
post, training room, co-working space, and a library.
