● Notes on the operation
WARNING
Be sure to close lid to prevent pinching dusts before operation.
If there is something between lid and chamber which prevents lid from closing, operator may burn by steam
leaked from chamber.
Be sure to slide lid lock lever slowly to close position (left end) before operation.
If lock is not enough, operator can not start operation (Er-4 is shown). But if operator can start operation by
malfunction of detection part, lid may explode at high pressure which cause fatal accident or serious injury.
Do not touch autoclave more than necessary.
If operator touches autoclave more than necessary, it may cause serious accident.
Do not open drain valve during operation.
It may cause burn injury by blow-out of boiling water and / or steam, water lack, and/or malfunction.
Do not open lid forcibly after pressing START KEY.
Opening lid forcibly after pressing START KEY may cause fatal accident or serious injury.
Do not open lid until chamber pressure goes down to “0MPa” when operation completed or
operation interrupted.
Steam spouts out of chamber by residual pressure which may cause burning.
In case of sterilizing liquid objects, to avoid exclusive boil, objects must be taken out of chamber
after cooling down enough taking time properly and unload quietly without any impact.
Liquid objects keep high temperature after sterilization completion since temperature of liquid cool down slower
than temperature in chamber. Therefore extreme temperature change when unloading may cause high temperature
liquid spouting by which operator may burn.
In case of sterilizing liquid objects, metallic or heat-resistance glass container must be used.
A glass container without heat-resistance may be easy to break by extreme temperature change and operator may
be injured by this breakage.
In case of sterilizing liquid objects (EX. liquid media), do not close container with lid or bung which
has no breathability.
It may cause rise of pressure in container, because temperature in container cool down slowly. Especially glass
container is easy to explode if it is damaged.
Use a heat-resistance glove when operator unloads objects after operation completion.
If operator touches chamber and/or objects without heat-resistance glove, operator may burn.
Do not open drain valve when there is residual pressure in chamber.
It may cause burn injury by blow-off of boiling water.
Do not touch exhaust bottle and stainless drain hose during air evacuation, exhaust, and drain.
It may cause burn injury. Do not touch them till cooling down enough.
Objects (especially sterilization bag) must be put in stainless wire basket or stainless bucket when
sterilization.
If operator loads objects into chamber directly, it may cause stopping up pipes which may lead to serious accident.

CAUTION
Do not put too much object in chamber for sterilizing.
(Quantity of object to be put inside chamber shall be less than 60% of capacity of chamber)
Putting too much object may cause sterilization incomplete.
In case of sterilizing containers, do not aim their open mouths upward nor overlap them each other.
Residual air may cause sterilization incomplete.
Sterilization bag shall be used with 100mℓ~200mℓ water inside. And open its mouth widely.
Residual air prevents penetration of steam which may cause sterilization incomplete.
Genuine accessories and spare parts made by ALP Co., Ltd. must be used.
Using other company’s products may cause serious accident and /or breakage of autoclave.

3. Check the chamber temperature goes down below 79℃.
(Circumstantially, press EXHAUST KEY in order to shorten cooling time.)
4. After checking if pressure gauge indicates 0MPa, slide the lid lock lever slowly to open
position (right end) with pressing front part of the lid cover. Then, open lid softly.
5. Check the condition of PROCESS LINE LED.
If sterilization is incomplete, close lid and press START KEY after pressing STOP KEY.
(Refer to 5. Operation method)

WARNING
Do not open lid till pressure gauge indicates 0MPa and TEMPERATURE DISPLAY indicates below
79℃ when operation interrupted.
Steam spouts out of chamber by residual pressure which may cause burning.
Be sure to set automatic exhaust OFF when sterilizing liquid object or glass container.
(Do not press EXHAUST KEY.)
Quick reduction of chamber pressure may cause breakage of glass container or blow-out of hot liquid.
Extra care about objects when unloading from chamber.
Or you may get burned or injured.
When sterilizing liquid, it takes a lot of time to cool. Be sure to check the temperature has dropped
sufficiently before unloading the liquid container from chamber.
Or you may get burned by bumping of liquid.

WARNING
Do not open lid until chamber pressure goes down to “0MPa”.
Steam spouts out of chamber by residual pressure which may cause burning.

CAUTION
Water level in camber is getting lower during operation. Check water level every operation and
pour water to the same level if it’s under proper level.
Water put in chamber must be distilled one or purified one. Frequent cleaning of chamber is
needed when using city water which generates scale in it.
Do not spill water when pouring it. If you spill water, wipe up it.
Change water for sterilizing frequently. Water must be changed every day in case of daily use.
Do not use well water which may cause corrosion and/or smudge.
Failure to use proper water may decrease life of heating element and/or chamber.

17
5.4 Load object

① Objects must be put in stainless wire basket or stainless bucket (optional accessory),
then set in chamber slowly.

※Do not put too much objects in chamber.

Too much objects in chamber may cause sterilization incomplete.
(Quantity of objects to be put inside chamber shall be less than 60% of capacity of
chamber)

WARNING
Be sure to use stainless wire basket, stainless wire basket with pan or stainless bucket.
In case of sterilization without above accessories, chamber pressure become out of control
due to the objects choke up pipe which leads to serious accident such as explosion.
Be sure that objects do not make contact with the inside of the lid.
If the lid is not closed properly, it may cause serious injury by blowing steam /or serious accident.

CAUTION
In case of sterilization of flagons such as vial container, screw cap bottle, conical flask, take out
cap or screw down it.
(Do not close mouth of flagons with impervious material such as silicon or rubber.)
In case of sterilization of liquid objects, quantity of object to be put inside container shall be less
than 50% of capacity of container.
Steam does not penetrate which may cause sterilization incomplete.
Too much object in container may cause bumping when objects are taken out of chamber after operation
completion.

18
●How to use the sterilization bag

①. To avoid breakage of sterilization bag, use with stainless bucket or stainless wire basket with pan
for sterilization. Don’t put the sterilization bag into chamber directly without using stainless
bucket or stainless wire basket with pan. Because exhaust holes located in the wall of chamber
may choke by sterilization bag which cause sterilization incomplete. In addition, pipes for control
and safety device may choke by sterilization bag which cause serious accident.
Be sure to put sterilization bag into stainless bucket or stainless wire basket with pan.

②. Don’t put too much objects into the sterilization bag. Quantity of object to be put in the
sterilization bag shall be less than 60% of chamber volume. Too much objects in the sterilization
bag may cause sterilization incomplete.

③. Sterilization bag must have open mouth. Sterilization bag must be set being open. (Refer to next
figure). If sterilization bag need to be tied with band, be sure to secure space for the steam going
out of sterilization bag. Closing the sterilization bag when sterilization may cause burst in addition
to the sterilization incompletion.
Close the bag when sterilization bag is disposed after sterilization.

④. For sure sterilization, it is advisable to put some water (about 200ml) into sterilization bag before
sterilization. Steam is generated in the sterilization bag which leads to better sterilization. In case
of sterilization without water in the sterilization bag, sterilization time must be set longer than in
case of sterilization with water.

⑤. If sharp pieces such as broken petri dish, test tube, and needles are directly put in the sterilization
bag, it may be cause of breakage of sterilization bag.(In case of using heat shrinkable sterilization
bag, it may break when a large quantity of hard materials such as disposable petri dishes are put
in the bag.)

⑥. It is difficult for linen and gauze to penetrate steam. They must not be put too much in
sterilization bag. This may cause sterilization incomplete.

⑦. Be sure to check the water level before every operation. In case of water lack, sterilization bag
may melt and stick to bottom of chamber by heat from heating element.

19
※ Sterilization conditions may vary depending on the objects. Use the chemical indicator and so on to get
suitable sterilization condition for each object.

※ If above ②⑥ happen and/or failure to do ③④, following safety device may work due to over pressure
in chamber by residual air.
- Pressure safety valve (Steam evacuates out of chamber)

●How to use the stainless bucket

①. Do not stack stainless buckets up in chamber. If the space between buckets is not enough, the
sterilization may be incomplete as air convection in chamber is insufficient.

②. Load stainless bucket in the center of chamber. If the space between the bucket and the
chamber’s wall is not enough, there is a possibility that sterilization is incomplete as evacuating
air is bung up. Also overpressure may cause safety device working.

③. Put water (200ml) into stainless bucket.

The sterilization efficiency improves as steam is generated. The sterilization time shall be longer if
you sterilize without water.

④. Do not overload objects which are difficult to penetrate steam (linen, gauze, etc…), or it may
cause sterilization incomplete.

⑤. Do not put too much objects in chamber for sterilization.

(Quantity of objects to be put inside chamber shall be less than 60% of capacity of chamber.)

⑥. Sterilization time / temperature shall be longer/higher, as evacuating air's efficiency of

sterilization bucket is not better than stainless wire basket with pan. Use the chemical indicators
and so on to get suitable sterilization condition.

WARNING
Be sure lid gasket has no dusts and crack.
Wipe out dusts on gasket with a soft cloth.
If you find crack on gasket, please contact local distributor.
If you leave crack one unchanged, it may cause burst at worst as well as leakage of steam.
Be sure to slide lid lock lever slowly to close position (left end) before operation.
If lock is not enough, operator can not start operation (Er-4 is shown). But if operator can start operation by
malfunction of detection part, lid may explode at high pressure which cause fatal accident or serious injury.
Do not slide the lid lock lever by force.
Forcing the lever to move may damage to mechanical locking device, it may cause unexpected accident.

CAUTION
Soon after previous operation (in case that TEMPERATURE DISPLAY indicates 50-79℃ after
opening lid), wait for a minute with closing lid, then slide the lid lock lever.
Reactive force arises when closing lid because the air which was caught by lid is swollen by heat of chamber.
Therefore, it’s necessary to keep the lid closing for a minute to discharge swollen air in chamber.

5.14 Reliability of sterilization

In case of sterilizing following containers which hinder the circulation and penetration of
steam, the temperature rises slower than temperature in chamber. Because residual air in
following containers is difficult to be evacuated.
Also it may cause Er-1(over pressure error).

●Containers which hinder the circulation and penetration of steam

・ Sterilization bag
・ Corking containers
・ Deep containers
・ Containers with comparatively small mouse

Especially, in case of using sterilization bag and stainless bucket, refer to 5.4 Load object to
prevent sterilization incompletion and/or danger of over pressure.

To operate assured sterilization, perform following ways.

・ Pour 100~200mℓ water into containers and generate steam to evacuate residual air.
・ Use indicators to check assurance of the sterilization.
・ Connect object temperature sensor of option part, then operate sterilization at the
object temperature mode.
This operation mode enables sterilization timer to start when object temperature
reaches to setting temperature. The object temperature can be checked with pressing
OBJECT TEMPERATURE KEY.

6.Trouble shooting
CAUTION
If the situation of autoclave correspond to following item(①or②) when you ask for repair
autoclave, make autoclave and accessories to be non-polluting condition.

① When in part of autoclave is exposed to infectious substance or radioactive substance.

② When blood or other hazardous components for human body adhere to part of autoclave.

When water lack alarm sounds, turn off power switch(breaker) and let stand for an hour because
the chamber is high temperature. And then pour water into chamber.
Or it may cause heater trouble.

In case of trouble on autoclave even if you operate correctly under this instruction manual,
check out the cause and suitable treatment according as follow table. If there are items which
do not correspond to follow table, or if it is difficult to treat, please contact local distributor
after turning off power switch(breaker) and noting serial number of the autoclave.

6. If there is foreign object, remove it and load base plate.
7. Pour water to the same level as base plate.

Drainage method

Lay stainless drain hose, then lay the lever

of drain valve. If there isn’t heat-resistance
drain facility, use shallow container.

WARNING
Do not touch power switch(breaker) by wet hand.
It may cause electric shock.
Do not open lid until chamber pressure goes down to “0MPa”.
Steam spouts out of chamber by residual pressure which may cause burning.
When replacing water in chamber, check the chamber temperature cold enough.
Or it may cause burn injury.

38
CAUTION
Empty chamber, drain whole water in chamber, and close lid when autoclave is not used for over
a week.
Be sure to check water level and water quality in chamber. In case of lack, pour water up to
proper level. In case of impurity, refresh water in chamber.
Use base plate hook when unloading base plate.(CL-40L only)
Do not use exhaust bottle for drain.
It may cause burn injury by blow-off of boiling water.

② Checking of the pressure gauge

● Checking method
Check the indicator of pressure gauge points 0MPa when the lid is opened.
If 0MPa is not indicated, do not use. Contact local distributor.
WARNING
Do not use autoclave if pressure gauge does not indicate 0MPa when the lid is opened.
If pressure gauge does not work properly, it may cause serious accident and/or breakage of autoclave.

7.2 Weekly maintenance

③ Cleaning of the chamber inside and exterior

● Cleaning method
1. Check if pressure gauge indicates “0MPa”.
2. Open lid, and empty chamber.
(also base plate, use base plate hook for CL-40L)
3. Turn off power switch(breaker).
4. Lay the lever of drain valve and drain water in chamber.
5. Remove dusts and foreign object, then wash wall and bottom of the chamber by
water.
6. Wipe off dirt with a soft cloth containing ethanol for cleaning the exterior.
(Do not use solvent such as thinner)

WARNING
Do not touch power switch(breaker) by wet hand.
It may cause electric shock.
Do not open lid until chamber pressure goes down to “0MPa”.
Steam spouts out of chamber by residual pressure which may cause burning.
Do not scratch heater in bottom of chamber when cleaning.
The water which infiltrates into heater may cause breakdown.
When cleaning of the chamber inside, check the chamber temperature cold enough.
Or it may cause burn injury.

39
CAUTION
Use base plate hook when unloading base plate.(CL-40L only)
Do not use exhaust bottle for drain.
It may cause burn injury by blow-off of boiling water.

④ Maintenance of lid gasket

● Cleaning method
1. Check if pressure gauge indicates “0MPa”.
2. Open lid.
3. Turn off power switch(breaker).
4. Wipe off lid gasket with a soft cloth containing ethanol.
5. Wipe off the chamber edge with a soft cloth containing ethanol.

WARNING
Do not touch power switch(breaker) by wet hand.
It may cause electric shock.
Do not open lid until chamber pressure goes down to “0MPa”.
Steam spouts out of chamber by residual pressure which may cause burning.

CAUTION
Do not forcibly draw out, and do not transform the lid gasket.
It may cause burn and breakdown because of steam leak.
Clean the chamber edge with a soft cloth at the same time.
Or it may cause burn and breakdown because of steam leakage when dirt is on the edge.

7.3 Yearly maintenance

⑤ Periodic inspection

Execute following easy inspection. Check if;

1. the chamber and the lid are not damaged.

2. there is no leakage of the safety valve.
3. pressure gauge works properly.
4. the lid gasket does not harden nor have any cracks.
5. the lid and the chamber are not out of alignment.
6. there are not leakage nor loose of pipes and valves.
7. autoclave works properly.
