Lesson Plan in Physical Science 4
I. Objectives:
A. Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an
understanding of how much reactants are needed and how
much products are formed in a reaction.
B. Performance Standard: The learners shall be able to
effectively explain the process of calculating the needed
reactant and the amount of product in a reaction, as well as
the significance of limiting reactant and percent yield.
C. Learning Competency: The learners calculate the amount of
substances used or produced in a chemical reaction.

II. Content: Chemical Change II (Stoichiometry) – 1 hour
III. Learning Resources:

IV. Materials:
PowerPoint Presentation
Activity Sheets
Manila paper
Marker
Calculator
Modern Periodic Table
V. Procedures:
A. Routinary Activities
1. Prayer
2. Checking Attendance
3. Cleaning Up
4. Review
B. Motivation (Establish the purpose of the lesson)
Present the goal of knowing stoichiometry & showing
pictures about “Stoichiometry Island Diagram”.
C. Lesson Proper
Overview of the objectives & key terms.
Key point, illustration of anatomy of a Chemical
Equation.
Discussing the different types of reaction.
Presenting overview on formula weights.
Providing the Stoichiometric calculation steps and
samples.
D. Activity
1. Give the class at least 15 minutes each item to answer
the activity sheet on Problem Solving, “Stoichiometric
Calculation”.
2. The class will be asked to analyze and read the two (2)
situations given in the activity sheet.
3. Show proper: Five (5) representatives from the class will
be tasked to report/discuss their answers.
(Rubrics will be used for the assessment & performance
will be their evaluation.)
E. Analysis
The goal of stoichiometry is to perform conversions
(changing between units) by cancelling out units until you
end up with the units you want (the answer).
F. Abstraction
What do you think is the importance of getting/calculating
the exact amount of elements/chemicals used during the
chemical reaction and/or chemical equation?
G. Application
Explain from the goal of stoichiometry?
