Problem Statement
No microorganism detector
Microorganisms can be found everywhere and are involved in several health, manufacturing and
the environment. Although the outbreak and richness of respiratory diseases and food poisoning
triggered by microorganisms has decreased over the years, the cumulative number of these
outbreaks is still extremely prevalent. Without a detection system, it can
cause hazards to people because microorganisms cannot be seen with naked eyes.
People nowadays still underestimate their hygiene because there is no reference they
can be make. Furthermore, people will lack information because a display mode is not
provided on the manual dispenser and makes people take it easy about their hygiene. Despite
that, people will easily get transmitted with serious bacteria and viruses that are
causing huge numbers of outbreaks.
Reason:
During this Covid 19 outbreak, we need to be more precaution with our surroundings because we
never know the people who get diagnosed with this disease. The preliminary reason for this
innovation is to create awareness among people about hygiene. In order to break the chain of this
outbreak, this invention has ability to calculate the percentage of viruses or serious bacteria on
their hands.
Otherwise, this invention consists of Internet of Thing (IOT) technology that has capability to pop
up the digital results on the screen to indicate the percentage of microorganisms on the hands.
Using IOT can also estimate the number of people who are entering the buildings, for instance
restaurants, hotels, shopping malls, hypermarkets and so on. This product helps lower the risk by
limiting the number of people entering the place or building. However, the data will be transmitted
across a network without human to human or human to computer interference.
Manual inspection
Manual job is highly time consuming and typically requires more workers engaging in the
process. The worker needs to inspect the dispenser manually whether the quantity of sanitizer is
empty or not. It consumes time and energy for the worker to check
the dispenser frequently. However, this has the effect not only of creating issues with service
quality, but also of stopping information from being used for monitoring or identifying. Reporting
and ensuring that the data is robust can be timely and costly.
Manual hand dispensers do not provide digital reading that causes disability for users to indicate
the percentage of microorganisms on their hands. Hygiene is the most essential thing in any activity
and needs to comprehend every single person about it. So, without the digital reader or known as
a microorganism reader can cause difficulty for the users to know the results.
Reason:
This invention is providing the capacity indicator technology that can be used to determine the
quantity of sanitizer in the container. In this case, it will automatically send the information to the
management if the sanitizer is about to empty and needs to be refilled. On the other hand, this
technology also helps the workers to make the job more convenient and save more time.
For a company profit, it enables the company to minimize the consumption of money by reducing
the labor workers. This is also an environment where huge sums can be saved by automation.
To encounter this problem, by using modern technology of high capacity and long-life span
battery that can reduce the cost for the organization to replace
the new battery frequently. Using this high capacity and long-life span battery can help the
company to stay growth and contribute an excellent quality of product to society.
Form of innovation
Product Innovation
Product innovation depends on production and development of goods and services of an organization
which include consumer product and the long-term success of such an organization depends on making
new product. For example, during this pandemic situation sanitizer is synonymous with people and
therefore requires improvement for the ease of use for the public.
For our product, in term of design we will change some features. Firstly, we will add a Liquid crystal display
(LCD) so that users will be able to know the level of bacteria that they have on their hand. Secondly,
in terms of mechanical engineering we intend to change the shape of the product to make it convenient
to be used anywhere and so that it does not take up too much space.
Component Innovation
Component innovation is an innovation that creates an improvement in the capabilities of the
individual components in a system. However, it does not involve a whole new design, but does
involve new or at least significantly different components. It is divided into two parts, firstly
hardware component is consisting of material or physical aspect of innovation and secondly a
software component consisting of information base that is needed to use the innovation.
On this product, we have already added some components among which are active infrared
sensor. Active infrared sensor have two parts a light emitting diode (LED) and a receiver, when
an object comes close to the sensor the infrared light from LED reflects off of the object and is
detected by the receiver. For example when you put your hands below the dispenser and dispenses
the liquid sanitizer in the form of atomized mist so with this system it can prevent the transmission
of bacteria. Second, we added an indicator sensor are used to detect the level of sanitizer so it will
help users or workers to refill the new sanitizer.
The internet of things, or IoT, is a system of interrelated computing devices and the ability to
transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer
interaction. An IoT ecosystem consists of web-enabled smart devices that use embedded
systems, to collect, send and act on data they acquire from their environments. IoT devices share
the sensor data they collect by connecting to an IoT gateway or other edge device where data is
either sent to the cloud to be analyzed or analyzed locally.
Type of innovation
Incremental
Incremental Innovation is the most usual form of innovation. It utilizes your existing technology
and increases value for the customer (features, design changes, etc.) within your existing
market. These improvements are not radical changes to the components but a gradual change. Most
incremental innovations involve little technological change rather than the creation of
a new product. The product or services do not require much marketing effort and has a lower
failure risk.
Examples include adding new features to existing products or services or even removing features
(value through simplification). Even small updates to user experience can add value, for
example we added fluorescent light technology. With this improvement it can detect sign
of bacteria or germ on your hands that cause illness and to collect data to improve sanitation
process.
How it works, when an individual comes to the hand hygiene machine, places people hands in it
and sees the immediate results on the screen. This product enables teams to keep track of the
quality of handwashing and enable its improvement.
Architectural
Architectural innovation is simply taking the lessons, skills and overall technology and applying
them within a different market. This innovation requires overall reconfiguration of the design
without changing the components and changes are achieved in its design through the changes in
the underlying components and the ways those components interact. This innovation is amazing
to increase the number of new customers if the new market is receptive. Most of the time, the risk
involved in architectural innovation is low due to the reliance and reintroduction of proven
technology. Though most of the time it requires tweaking to match the requirements of the new
market.
For this idea, we use a touch free wall-mounted liquid cleaning sanitizer dispenser that is made of
aluminum, grey color. The material we use is aluminum because it cannot rust. This is because
rust is iron oxide, and the majority of aluminum has practically no iron in its structure. Therefore,
aluminum can oxidize, but it retains the underlying unoxidized aluminum. This is because
aluminum oxide is more corrosion resistant than the aluminum alloy on which it is based.
Touch-free wall-mounted liquid soap or hand sanitizer with a volume of 1.2 L, made in aluminum.
Touchless process to avoid cross contamination and dissemination of germs. Smart and stylish design that
helps this soap dispenser to fit perfectly into any room. Great for use in toilets, kitchens, offices, schools,
banks, hospitals, hotels and restaurants.
A liquid level view window is placed at the front of the dispenser to better track the liquid contents.
Equipped with a safety lock and a special key to both avoid tampering and vandalism and to
prevent stealing of soap in public areas, at the same time as sanitation is assured. Operates on 4
alkaline AA LR6 batteries which are not provided. This product is specifically suitable for hand
sanitation.
The use of liquid soap or hand sanitizer with the following characteristics is recommended. Such
as, for the maximum alcohol with content of 80% and density of between 0.9 and 1.35 kg/dm3.
This product also does not help soaps which is contain methanol, chlorine or solid or even an
abrasive particle. Last but not least, in mechanical technique, we applying screws and installing
the plastic plugs to be mounted on the supplied brick wall in order to maintain the position of the
dispenser and rigid.
Conclusion
Hand sanitizers usually operate by squirting sanitizer liquid when one presses a pump with one’s
hand. Some hand sanitizers on the market are automatically pumped. However, sanitizer containers
and pump devices are designed to be compatible only between products produced by the same
manufacturer. To address this problem, we have designed an automatic hand sanitizer system that
is compatible with various containers. With the proposed device, it is possible to avoid many
people coming into contact with the pump handle, thus preventing fomite viral transmission and
making the use of hand sanitizer much more convenient. In term of safety, we can apply more
contactless action to get low risk in getting virus.
Moreover, the system squirts a certain amount of hand sanitizer at all times, making it easy to
manage refills and replacement. Furthermore, it can operate compatibly with various designs of
sanitizer containers, so consumers do not need repurchase a container for the liquid if they replace
the hand sanitizer. We can make life easier by using automatic refill and notification for battery
life , which will lead to prevent cost, time and energy wasted and provide a convenience lifestyle.
