1.0 Purpose
The purpose of this work is to provide electrical interface guidelines for the installation of Magnetic Clamping
Systems with injection molding machines.
2.0 Objective
The objective of the committee was to standardize the electrical interface between the injection molding
machine and the magnetic clamping system as well as to specify the electrical connection for this standard
interface.
3.0 Scope
The guideline applies to the electrical interface between magnetic clamping systems and injection molding
machines, both horizontal and vertical. It does not include any interface for the transfer of data since
solutions to this problem are covered by the SPI communications protocol. It includes both a standard
interface and a partially integrated interface. (See notes under section 4.3)
In addition, recommendations are given for signal voltage, current levels and for the main supply voltage of
the MCS.

- Current max. 2A
- Partly integrated interface: command and some status of MCS are on control panel of IMM.
- Unless otherwise noted, the switch contacts are switching the reference potential plug contacts:
Table1 / Pin a2 (IMM signal) and Table 2 / Pin d2 (MCS signal).
- The signals are conducted from the signal source to the respective pin.
- Apart from the MCS signals ”Enable IMM, MCS ok” (Table 1; Pins a1/a7; a6/a12) the signals can
assume any status when the MCS is switched off.
- All signals except table 1: pins a1,a7, a6, a12 and table 2: pins d1, d7, d6, d12 are information signals
only.
