A. Drill

“Thumbs up” or “Thumbs down”


Say, Thumbs Up if the given multiplication has a correct answer and thumbs down if not.
Multiplication facts
a. 30 x 5 = 150
b. 10 x 5 = 42
c. 15 x 100 = 1500
d. 120 x 5 = 420
e. 60 x 15 = 4200

B. Review
A figure will be shown. Each figure should be shaded to show the fraction flashed by the
teacher.

Visualizing percentage using ratio


What are the steps to follow in changing percentage to ratio?

STEPS
Step 1: Obtain the percentage
Step 2: Convert the percentage into fraction by dividing it by 100 and removing percentage
symbol (%).
Step 3: Reduced the fraction obtained in step 2 in the simplest form.
Step 4: Write the fraction obtained in Step 3 as a ratio.

Express each of the following percentage as ratios in the simplest form:


Ex. 46% = 46/100= 23/50 = 23:50
1. Give the ratio form of 20%
2. Give the ratio form of 35%
3. Give the ratio form of 1 %

Directions: Change the following given number using percentage, fractions, decimal and ratio.

Ask: What is the relationship of percentage to a fraction, decimals and to ratio?
If your data is written in percentage form, can you write it in fraction form? How can we get Percent
equivalent of ratio and fraction?

Remember
• Percent means, per 100 or you can think of it as, “Out of 100”.
• Percent can also be written as fraction, decimal and ratio. Percent means the whole is divided
into 100 equal parts.
• To change percent to decimal, move the decimal point two places to the left then remove the
percent symbol.
• A ratio is a comparison between two qualities.

IV. Evaluation.
Directions: Give the following fractions, decimal and ratio. Write it on your notebook.
