C. Establishing a purpose for the lesson
Create a word based on the 4 pictures.

 What have you noticed with the words?

 Have you tried baking?
 What do you think is the key to have a consistent product in baking?

D. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson

Marvin helps his father in their bakery. He learns that in baking, it’s important
to be precise to have a consistent product. He was assigned to bake cakes for their
family reunion next week. His father gave him 0.96 kilogram of flour. If one cake
needs 0.32 kilogram of flour, how many cakes can Marvin make?
 What is asked in the problem?
 What are given?
 What operation should you use to solve the problem?
 Why is division the operation needed to solve it?

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skill #1

 How do we divide two decimal numbers?
o In dividing decimals, we need to make the divisor a whole number
before we can proceed to division.
 From the given 0.96 and 0.32, what is the divisor? Dividend?
 Discussion of the lesson #1
o Step 1. Make the divisor a whole number by multiplying both the
divisor and the dividend to the same powers of 10 (10, 100, ...) or by
moving decimal point going to the right until the divisor becomes a
whole number.

o Step 2. Divide the dividend by the divisor to find the quotient.

o Step 3. Check. Multiply the divisor and the quotient, the answer
must be equal to the dividend.
32 x 3 = 96
 Therefore, Marvin can make 3 cakes using 0.96 kg of flour.
 Practice exercise with guidance
1.) 6.3 ÷ 0.7 = N 2.) 8.1 ÷ 0.3 = N 3.) 0.56 ÷ 0.8 = N
F. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skill #2
 How about when dividing whole numbers with decimal quotients? How do
we do it?
 Discussion of the Lesson #2
o Step 1. Write a decimal point and a zero in the tenths place of the
dividend as well as decimal point in the quotient.

o Step 2. Divide the dividend by the divisor to find the quotient.

Continue dividing until the difference is equal to zero.

o Step 3. Check. Multiply the divisor and the quotient, the answer
must be equal to the dividend.
5 x 0.8 = 4
 Practice exercise with guidance.
1.) 3 ÷ 15 = N 2.) 12 ÷ 8 = N 3.) 8 ÷ 32 = N

G. Developing Mastery
 Find the quotient.
1.) 1.20 ÷ 0.15 = N 4.) 4 ÷ 8 = N
2.) 2.86 ÷ 0.22 = N 5.) 12 ÷ 60 = N
3.) 3.78 ÷ 0.18 = N

H. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living

 Group Activity
o Group 1
Find the quotient.
1.) 0.36 ÷ 0.12 = N 2.) 4.25 ÷ 0.5 = N 3.) 38.4 ÷ 6 = N
o Group 2
Find the quotient.
1.) 9 ÷ 6 = N 2.)12 ÷ 16 = N 3.) 36 ÷ 40 = N
o Group 3
Solve the problem.
1. Brenda cut 84 inches from a spool of green thread. She needs to
tie the threads to her customized 15 bookmarks. How many
inches of thread were placed on each bookmark?
2. Larry worked 15 days for a total of 116.25 hours. How many
hours did he work per day on average?

I. Making generalizations and abstract about the lesson
