    WEEKLY REFLECTIVE JOURNAL

    TITLE OF THE JOURNAL : STUDENTS CANNOT COMPREHEND MY TEACHING

    CATEGORY : TEACHING AND LEARNING

    1. FOCUSED ISSUE

    During the second week of my practicum, I noticed my students were quite confused during
    their lesson. They cannot follow my teaching and instructions very well.

    2. ANALYSIS

    This is because during the lesson, my instruction is not very clear and my explanation is hard
    for to understand. This later leads to students felt bored in the class and it could affect
    classroom control.

    3. PAST RESEARCH (LITERATURE REVIEW) TOWARD ISSUE

    Tapowa (2017) stated that the instructions for a child and an adult are very different. A child
    should be given a simple and short instruction as they cannot process lots of information at
    the same time.

    4. SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENTS

    There are a few steps that I can take to help this problem to be solved. Among them are:
    1. Make sure the instructions are specific
    2. Demonstrate if possible the instructions
    3. Keep the instructions short

    5. PERIOD OF TIME TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE

    1 week.

    6. FOLLOW UP ACTIONS

    Therefore, for the next lesson period, I should keep in mind to keep my instruction short. I
    also need to repeat the instruction and try to break down long instructions to help the
    students to understand better.

    8. EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PLANNED ACTION

    I have practiced by myself to give out instruction to my students. I had conducted a role play
    in order to help me visualize the situation better.

    9. CONCLUSION

    In conclusion, the suggested actions are very helpful in order to aid my teaching. I hope I
    can keep it up until the end of my practicum.
