Extending a proven record of providing a scalable architecture that
supports growth and expandability, the SRA3 print controller represents
the next generation of the Océ Scalable Raster Architecture (SRA) series.
Scalable in processing power and connectivity, the SRA controller
provides an expandable architecture that gives you the power to take
advantage of today's newest and most sophisticated printing technologies,
while providing a modular upgrade path to expand as your requirements
become more demanding.

Supporting fast processing of complex pages, the SRA controller comes

standard with Multiple Resolution Mode for support of 600 dpi resolution
output and up to three data or network interfaces.

Based on a modular configuration, the SRA controller employs multiple

microprocessors and expandable memory to perform critical printing tasks
such as parallel rasterization and resolution switching. The task of
translating page-description or graphics output language instructions to a
pattern of dots supplied to the printing system to print pages is distributed
across multiple microprocessors and performed in unison. The result is
extremely high-speed throughput of even the most demanding page-
description languages (PDL) with the highest possible quality at the
printer's rated speed - keep pace with even the most demanding
throughput of Océ VarioStreamTM printers.

Because configurations are scalable by the number of internal processors,

you can specify the exact amount of controller power and memory needed
for resource intensive applications. As applications become more complex
or as printer speed increases, additional memory and processors can be
added - so you can increase processing power without replacing a control
unit or your printer As a result, you avoid purchasing more processing
power than you need today in anticipation of future requirements. With
SRA technology, your system matches your requirements today - and
easily scales as requirements change over time.

In addition to processing power, the SRA controller also manages

connectivity to your network. Whether you're connecting to a mainframe
via ESCON or to an Ethernet network, the SRA controller supports a
variety of connectivity options. You can start with one interface and add up
to two additional interfaces as your connectivity needs increase.

Benefits
Scalable processing power and network interfaces give you
the flexibility to work with just what you need today while
enabling you to expand the system as your needs change

Parallel processing ensures that even the most complex

documents run at the printer's rated speed

A modular architecture enables you to take advantage of the

latest technologies
