Smoking can be very dangerous for our health. It can affect you negatively, both quickly and
slowly. Here are the negative effects of smoking and way to overcome the addiction.
To start with, smoking causes bad odour. This is because the smoke can stick to
your clothes and hair making you smelly. People around you will be uncomfortable to speak
and being close with you. Smoking also can cause future vision problem. The hazardous
contains in the cigarettes will increase the risk of eye problems such as cataracts and
glaucoma.
Next, yellowish stains on the teeth will be the tell-tale sign of your long term smoking.
The tar and other chemicals carried in the smoke will seep into the pores in your teeth
enamels, staining their natural colour. Besides, smoking causes lung cancer. The
carcinogenic substances such as arsenic and ammonia, damage the lung tissues. Over the
time, the damage causes cells to act abnormally and eventually cancer may develop.
Apart from that, in the medical world and beyond, it is universally agreed upon
that smoking reduces life span. The mortality rate among smokers is three times that of
non-smokers. Every cigarette you puff, contain more than 4,000 hazardous chemicals which
will badly damage every single part of your body. You are beckoning many chronic diseases
to come into your body with smoking.
You are not only hurting yourself by smoking, but also the people nearby as the
“passive smoker”. Passive smoking can increase a non-smoker's risk of getting lung cancer
by a quarter, and may also increase the risk of cancers of the larynx (voice box) and pharynx
(upper throat). Every year, second-hand smoke kills millions of people in the world from lung
cancer, heart disease, stroke and the lung disease.
One way to overcome addiction of smoking is cultivating your inner feeling to fight the
addiction and quit smoking. Rise up your inner motivation by highlighting the reasons that
shore up your determination of quitting smoking. Have strong belief in yourself that you have
to stop smoking for your own great future and for the sake of the people around you who will
also get the effects of your habit. If you are determined to give up smoking, but do not know
where to begin, create a structured plan with the support of others or medication therapy.
Quitting smoking is difficult, but not impossible.

harmful effects on health and society. For the non-smoker yet, say no to start or even try to
smoke cigarettes and for those who have start it, there are rewards to quit smoking. It is
hard, but it worth it in the end. Make the wise decision in your life, do not sacrifice your future
