The sample space S of two dice is shown below.
(1,1),(1,2),(1,3),(1,4),(1,5),(1,6)

1. Find the probability that the both dots have same numbers.
When two dice are drawn there will be 36 combinations. However, for getting the
same number on both die, there will be 6 possibilities which are (1,1), (2,2), (3,3),
(4,4), (5,5) and (6,6).
Hence, the required probability is 6/36 = 1/6
2.Find the probability that the sum of both dots is equal to 7
There are only actually 6 ways to get the sum of 7. They are (1,6), (6,1), (5,2),
(2,5), (3,4), and (4,3).
the probability of a sum of 7 is 6/36 = 1/6
3.Find the probability that the sum of both dots is equal to 14
There are no ways to get the sum of 14.
the probability of a sum of 14 is 0/36 = 0
the probability is zero
4. Find the probability that the sum of both dots is at least 8
The total number of ways to sum to 8 on a die:
(2,6),(3,5),(4,4),(5,3),(6,2)
And there is 36 possibilities, 6 for the first number and 6 for the second, so the
probability is: 5/36

5. Find the probability that the sum of both dots is atmost 11
The total number of ways to sum to 11 on a die: (5,6), (6,5)
And there is 36 possibilities, 6 for the first number and 6 for the second, so the
probability is: 2/36
6. Find the probability that the sum of both dots is even number
pairs which gives us even sum are
(1,1) (1,3) (1,5) (2,2) (2,4) (2,6) (3,1) (3,3) (3,5) (4,2) (4,4) (4,6) (5,1)
(5,3) (5,5) (6,2) (6,4) (6,6)
such pairs are 18 in numbers.
so probability of getting even sum when two dice are thrown is =18/36 = 1/2
7. Find the probability that the sum of both dots is odd number
pairs which gives us odd sum are
(1,2) (1,4) (1,6) (2,1) (2,3),( 2,5),(3,2),( 3,4),( 3,6) (4,1) (4,3) ( 4,5) ( 5,2) (5,4)

so probability of getting odd sum when two dice are thrown is =18/36 = 1/2

1. A card is drawn at random from a deck of cards. Find the probability of
getting a queen.
There are 4 queens in a deck. Hence, there are 4 out of 52 (number of total cards in
the deck) chances of drawing a queen. Another way of saying this is that the
probability is 4/52 = 1/13 of drawing a queen.
2. A card is drawn at random from a deck of cards. Find the probability of
getting an ace card.
Again there are 4 aces in a deck of 52 cards. The probability of picking an ace
=4/52=1/13.

3. A card is drawn at random from a deck of cards. Find the probability of
getting black card.
Since there are 26 black cards and 26 red cards and no other cards in the deck. So,
probability of getting a black card from a pack of 52 cards is 26/52 = 1/2
