Chapter IV

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS, AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

This chapter presents the data gathered, the results of the statistical analysis

done and interpretation of findings. These are presented tables following the sequence

of the specific research problem regarding the Comparative Analysis On The Effects Of

Autocratic And Laissez-Faire Leadership Style On The Employee's Productivity In

Seven Food Establishments In Valenzuela City.

As shown on the table, when it comes to socializing with their co-workers, the

weighted wean is 3.30 which is the highest weighted mean among 10 questions and

having a verbal interpretation of Strongly Agree. This supports to the interview made by

Ciciora, Korte (2010) said that in order to make the capacity of their workforce increase,

improve their competitive advantage, as well as developing new talent in the

organization, socialization is important strategy to implement. It implies that it is really

important to the point that very talented employees could not succeed their work group

without it. On the other hand, when it comes to not following the rules because they

have freedom do anything they wanted to, as well as, they are responsible for their

actions they do because they can decide what they want which both has a lowest

weighted mean of 2.07 having a verbal interpretation of Disagree. In relation to this, the

employees might see their leaders as controlling that may dent the employees’ morale

for the reason that the leaders in the autocratic leadership style have full power and

control over their workers. This makes this kind of leadership style an extreme and

intense form of leadership (Garfinkle, 2005). The employees do not have the right to

voice out their opinions on how the things inside their workplace should go.

As shown on the table above, the manager is supposed to set daily tasks or duty

in each of every workers. The highest weighted mean is 3.47 having a verbal

interpretation of Strongly Agree. It implies that the processes and methods are dictated

by the leader (La Marco, 2019) that the employees are supposed to rely more on their

leaders, not because they want to, but because they are required to. Thus, the

autocratic leaders are assumed to be a dominating and an uncompromising leader. On

the other hand, when it comes to constant feedback and opinion with co-workers about

job performance affect the productivity level of an employee which is the lowest

weighted mean having verbal interpretation of Agree is 2.87. It is said that the leaders

who do not supervise directly the employees and they do not even provide regular

feedback to their subordinates can even lead to poor production, lack of control and

increasing costs that are not good to the company itself and can affect many aspects

(Sun Star Pampanga, 2016).

As revealed the data above, it shows that the manager has good control and

general view on their job which has the highest weighted mean, 3.40 having a verbal

interpretation of Strongly Agree. This result is related to what stated by Montala (2007),

autocratic leaders arrange all the physical layout to prevent interference in the decision-

making and in the tasks that are needed to be done. The employees must do the things

that the leaders told them to do. Additional ideas and suggestions are not being

accepted by the leader. When it comes to the manager ignores employee’s knowledge

and opinions in making a decision, the lowest weighted mean is 2.20 having a verbal

interpretation of Disagree. In the study of Kalu & Okpokwasili (2018), the full authority of

the leader will not help in solving the problems inside the workplace for the reason that

he will be the only one to solve it; thus, it will not increase or improve the productivity of

an employee.

Statement of the Problem No. 2. What is the significant relationship between each of

the two leadership styles and the employee's productivity?

H o. There is no significant relationship between autocratic leadership style and the

employee’s productivity.

Using Pearson r Correlation, the r computed -0.263 is less than the r critical

0.361 with 0.05 level of significance and 28 degrees of freedom. Therefore, the null

hypothesis is failed to reject. It shows that there is a low correlation between autocratic

leadership style and employee’s productivity and there is also no significant effect

between autocratic leadership style and employee’s productivity.

H o. There is no significant relationship between laissez-faire leadership style and the

employee’s productivity.

Using Pearson r, the r computed 0.581 is greater than the r critical 0.361 with

0.05 level of significance and 28 degrees of freedom. Therefore, the null hypothesis is

rejected. It shows that there is a moderate correlation between autocratic leadership

style and employee’s productivity. It implies that there is a significant effect between

autocratic leadership style and employees productivity.
