1. General data
A. This page block gives the description of the serviceable properties of the Dual
Torque Indicator with the part numbers on the title page.
A. The primary function of the Dual Torque Indicator is to give the indication of the 2
signals that follow :
(1) The indicator provides two torques indications through two pointers actuated
by two electrically independent motors.
(2) Each channel actuates a concentric pointer indicating the torque from an
electrical signal. A two positions switch is used to read either the torque of
each motor as indicated by the corresponding pointer, or the sum of both
torques, as indicated on the pointer «2+1».

5. Operation
A. The indicator operates in connection with two variable transmitters wich are
supplied with 1000 Hz current.
B. The variation in oil pressure from the motor causes the variation in reluctance of
the magnetic circuits of the associated transmitters and this results in a voltage
variation measured by the servomotor units.
C. The pointers are driven by reduction gears and they move in front of a percentage
graduated dial.
(1) pointer 1 indicates the value of the motor 1 torque.
(2) pointer 2+1 indicates:
(a) the sum of both torques if the switch setting is «2+1» and if the
difference between both torques is lower than 225 mV ± 11 mV
(magnetic indicator is black).
(b) the value of the greater torque if the difference between both torques is
greater than or equal to 225 mV ± 11 mV (magnetic indicator is red and
white striped).
(c) the value of motor 2 torque if the switch setting is «2» (magnetic
indicator is red and white striped).
D. In case of no power supply, the two pointers come to rest under the 5% graduation
mark.
TESTING
1. General Data
A. This page block contains all the necessary instructions to do the test of the Dual
Torque Indicator with the part numbers on the title page.
(1) Complete the test procedure of this page block if a fault occurred during the
operation of the Dual Torque Indicator.
(2) Do these test procedures to make sure that the Dual Torque Indicator is fully
serviceable before it is put back into operation.
(3) If the values of the test results are not in the specified limits send the Dual
Torque Indicator back to Vibro-Meter France or to a Vibro-Meter Approved
Maintenance Organization (AMO) for repair.
2. Test Equipment

4. Test Procedure
A. It is necessary to do all the tests with the atmospheric conditions that follow, unless
it is specified differently :
(1) The temperature must be + 25°C ± 10°C (+ 77°F ± 18°F).
(2) The relative humidity must be ≤ 80%.
C. Electrical Checks
(1) Refer to the Figure 101 to connect all the different elements to the connector
of the Dual Torque Indicator and energize them.
(2) Start the test equipment a minimum of 10 minutes before you start the test
procedure that follows. This makes it possible for the power supplies to get
to the correct temperature and to be stable.
(3) Measurement of tension and frequency of channel 1 converter
(a) converter voltage Vc = 11.80 V ± 0.2 V.
(b) converter frequency F = 1000 Hz ± 20 Hz.
NOTE : Record the exact value of the voltage read Vc.
(4) Check of channel 1 calibration
(a) Refer to the calibration Table 102 that follow to make sure the Dual
Torque Indicator operates correctly.
(b) Set pointer 1 opposite each graduation indicated on the calibration
chart below, by means of the potentiometer or the simulator bench.
(c) Read the value of the corresponding voltage in mV on the DC voltmeter
and the analog output; the Vs voltage read must correspond (within the
right tolerances) to each indication on the channel 1 chart.
(d) Reset the pointer to zero.
(5) Check of channel 2 calibration
(a) Set the switch to position ”2”.
(b) same operations as for channel 1 check.

(6) Checking the correct operation of the magnetic indicator and its electronic
switching:
(a) You must associate the equipments number 6, 7, 8 and 9 for each way
independently in order to check correctly the thresholds between the
two ways.
(b) With both pointers at zero, set the switch to position ”2+1” (the pointer
2+1 moves slightly): the indicator must show its black face; reset the
switch to position ”2”: the indicator must show its red and white striped
face.
(c) The switch being at ”2”, set both pointers to zero and note the voltage
corresponding to each channel:
1 first case: torque 1 > torque 2 :
a Set the switch in position ”2+1”; increase the voltage of the
channel 1 until switching of the magnetic indicator, that must
then show its red and white striped face.
b Note the voltage at the switching point which must be
225 mV ± 11 mV added to that noted at zero on the other
channel.
