INTRODUCTION
1. GENERAL,
This manual contains overhaul instructions and an Illustrated Parts List for electrical fan
prepared in accordance with ATA specification NolOO for Manufacturer's Technical Data.
Disassembly, assembly, testing and trouble shooting procedures have been verified by
simulation.
The information contained in this manual enables the user to restore to proper operating
condition the equipment that has been removed from service.

OPERATTOK
The electrical motor drives the fan impeller which sucks the air through the housing.
During n o m l operation the electrical fan will be supplied under 115 Vac / 400 hz by the
TECHhrOFAN inverter RE0605AAO.

1. FUNCTIONAL TEST,
A. Aerodyanamic measurements.
- Install the fan onto a normalized test bench NFX 10-200 equipped with a 75 mm (2.9527
in.) diaphragm. (see Figure 101)
B. Readings to be taken.
D. Sim~lifiedmeasurements
With the fan disconnected from any aerodynamic system, supply it under 115 Vac /400 Hz
/ single-phase and record N, I and W. Check that :
N 2 10500 tr/mn I < 1.5 A at inverter terminals, single-phase side W < 150 W

E. Check the insulation.
Apply 250 Vdc between wires and a mechanical ground point. Check that the dielectric
strength is greater than 10 Meghoms.
- Measure the bonding strength between 2 points of the fan, not electrically insulated and
as distant as possible.
- Current amperage to apply : 10 A
- Check that the bonding strength is lower than 10 miIliohms.
2. TROUBLE SHOOTING,
- If the wheel does not turn in correct direction, check electrical wire connections as specified
in Figure 101.
- If the connections are correct and if various measured parameters do not enable to get the
indicated values in paragraphs 1. C and 1.D, the fan must be checked.

CLEANING
YARNING; The trichlorethane is dangerous. Avoid inhaling fumes. Use in well ventilated
area only. The liquid is highly flammabIe and a skin irritant. Wear protective
gloves. Wash immediately with clean water if skin is splashed with solvents.
CAUTTOIY; Use only specified cleaning materials and solutions, or their equivalents. The
surface protection could be damaged if unspecified materials are used. It is
important that manufacturer's instructions are followed.
A. Using a suitable artist's brush, wash every part removed, one at time, in a bath of cleaning
agent (special material N02)until1 all traces of old materials and contamination have been
removed, except for the following items:
- electrical components.
- painted parts.
Dry-brush the electrical components and wipe them with a cotton cloth.

CHECKS
1. GENERAL,
- After each disassembly systematically discard all screws, washers, ball bearings and other parts
found damaged.
- Check that mating faces are in good condition and that parts are free from cracks, staining and
corrosion.
B. Check of the front bearing housing, (see IPL, Figure 2, item 1IOA)

C. Check of the rear bearing housing. (see IPL, Figure 2, item 210A)
3. CHECKS OF THE F A N
- Check the air inlet and air outlet external diameters. They should be :
+
Inlet 0 : 99 0.5 mm (3.8976 f 0.01968 in.)
- 0.1 - 0.003937
Outlet0: 97 -0.4mm(3.8188 -0.015748 in.)
- Dents on leading edge not causing cracks may be trimmed as long as impeller balancing
is checked. Residual unbalance should be lower than 0.3 gr.mrn (0.000026 1b.h) on each
balancing area.
- If unbalance is greater than this value re-balance the impeller by material removal as
shown in Figure 501.
