10. The pie chart below shows the distribution of favorite chocolate of 900 students. The
number of students who like coffee chocolate is 30 more than milk chocolate. The number
of students who like dark chocolate is 45 more than coffee chocolate.
(b) 100 new data are added to form a new data set of size 1000 . One student is chosen
at random. What is the greatest probability that the favorite chocolate of the chosen
students is either dark chocolate or coffee chocolate? (2 marks)

11. To finish a construction work, Bosco spends 2 days less than Jacky. If both of them work
32
together, it takes days to finish 80% of the work.
9
(a) Find the number of days needed for Bosco to finish the work alone. (3 marks)
(b) Jacky improved his working efficiency, such that the time required for him to finish a
construction work alone reduced by half. Bosco is sick and he required k more
weeks to complete a construction work alone. If they work together, find the
maximum integral value of k if they finished the work under 4 days. (3 marks)

12. In the figure, A , B , C and D are points lying on a circle. E is the mid-point of BC . F
is a point lying on AC . It is given that EF = 5 cm and ∠ADC + ∠CEF = 180° .
3004 – Paper I – 8
13. Let p ( x )=x 3 −2 x 2 −5 x+k , where k is a constant. The graph of y = p(x) cuts the y-axis
at D(0 , 6) and the straight line y + 24 = 0 cuts y = p(x) at E . The graph of y = p(x) cuts
the x-axis at A(a , 0) , B(b , 0) and C(3 , 0) respectively, given that a < b < 3 .
(a) When x 3−2 x 2−5 x+30 is divided by f (x) , the quotient is x 2−5 x+10 and there

14. The total cost of producing n phones is $C . It is known that C is sum of three parts. One
part is the fixed material cost which is $880 , one part varies as square of n and the last
part varies as cube of n . Suppose the cost of producing 10 phones is $2080 and the cost
of producing 15 phones is $3805 .

18. The magnitude M of an earthquake in the Richter scale is defined by M = log E−2.9 ,
3
where E units is the energy released from the earthquake.
(a) Scientists forecast that an earthquake will occur in the following week in a city. They
estimate that the magnitude of the coming earthquake is 1.2 lower in the Richer

magnitude of an earthquake in the new scale is 58 , it is about a magnitude of 5 in
the Richer scale (correct to the nearest integer). Does he correct? Explain your
answer. (4 marks)
