Experiment No. 02
Experiment Name: Resistance Measurement with color code and DMM
Working date: 28th June 2021 Submission date: 13th July 202
Experiment Number: 02
9 = White
Theory: We will use the resistors band color and calculate it with the help of color code. Also, we will use
DMM for measuring resistor.
Procedure:
Step1: Take the resistors and collect the colors from the resistors simultaneously.
Step2: Using the color code chart calculate its resistance.
Step3: With the help of the chart determine the tolerance level of each resistor.
Step4: Find the maximum and minimum tolerance level of each resistor.
Step5: Take the readings of resistance after measuring with the DMM.
Discussion: In this experiment we measured resistance of resistor by color code of each resistor. At first,
we took a resistor with band color “red, red, black, silver.” First red color has code number 2, as the
second band color is also red therefore it also has color code 2. The third color which is black indicates
code number of 0, it means we will give zero number of “0.” As a result, the resistance is 22 Ω. And the
silver color indicates the tolerance level of 10% of 22Ω, it means 22 ± 2.2. After adding and subtracting
we will get maximum and minimum. We measured the resistors also by the digital multimeter.
Conclusion: At the end we got the resistors resistance, tolerance, maximum and minimum resistance of
resistors.
Precautions: Observe the color carefully in resistors. Connect the resistor with DMM properly.
