CINDERELLA IN CHINA
When she wishes to be able to attend the Spring Festival, her clothes are
transformed into an exotic outfit with golden slippers. Yeh-Shen loses one
golden slipper while fleeing her stepmother at the Festival. The king
searches for its owner. The king’s men catch Yeh-Shen creeping in to
reclaim her slipper and bring her before the King. When she puts it on,
her beautifulfestival outfit reappears. The King falls in love with Yeh-
Shen and they marry.

COMPLEX SENTENCES
A complex sentence has a main clause, and one or more subordinating
clauses. For example: The boys, who were all rugby players, refused to
talk. You connect the subordinate clause to main clause with who,
whom, and that or which.
