That Sugar Film

1. What is the relationship between the good life and science?

- Good life may vary from person to person, in my opinion happiness, satisfaction, good
health and peace makes a good life. Science is linked to a good life. Science is what gives
everyone a good life, and science is what fuels the quest for a good life. Science may
affect our day to day life, starting from the moment we wake up which can somehow
affect us into the future. After watching the short film, I can say that Science especially
technology have a great impact in our life because of the technology during Damon’s 60
days of daily consumption of sugar the nutritionist was able to know and explained what
is happening to his body. Lastly, because of science and technology we can now provide
medicines that can cure diseases, because for me one of my basis of having a good life is
being healthy.

2. Based on the short film, does technology always lead us to the good life? How and Why?
- Based on the short film, technology both leads and hinders us to have a good life. Even
though it is widely acknowledge that technology is one of the most significant
innovation, which can somehow make life easier it still have its pros and cons.
As I previously stated, technology may lead us to a better life since, based on the short
film, the doctor instantly recognized that something is wrong with Damon through
blood tests; but, without technology, monitoring Damon's health can be difficult and
may take days to get the findings. On the other hand, technology does not always lead
us to a good life. There is one scene in the short film that shows how technology can
deceive us, and that scene is when Damon made fresh apple juice using the electric
juicer, instead of eating the whole apple, which has fibers that can keep him full, he took
the risk of taking more sugar/calories by drinking the apple juice.
