Management Trainee Job Description

A management trainee works under the supervision of different functional HOD’s in organization.
Their goal is to acquire all essential knowledge to become future executives/Managers, often in
particular fields, in any one of operation’s domain. (e.g., Production, Planning, Quality or Process)

The management trainee's responsibilities include completing all assigned tasks, which may include,
performing duties in different departments, gaining knowledge of operations, learning how to
handle disputes, attending meetings and trainings, providing support and suggestions for
improvement, updating records, and preparing documentation.

Management trainees may often rotate to different departments to learn all company functions,
policies, and staff duties. They contribute to strategic planning and help evaluate employee and
department performance (e.g., analysing, writing reports)

General Responsibilities:

 Help HOD’s complete daily tasks


 Understand each department’s daily processes and goals
 Provide administrative support
 Get familiar with personal duties
 Help HOD’s in evaluating performance
 Research ways to increase profitability and lower risk
 Create and give presentations

Requirements:

 Bachelor's degree in Engineering


 Proficiency in MS Office
 Excellent attention to detail.
 Strong leadership skills.
 A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
 Willingness to work overtime if required.
 Excellent time management skills
 Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

Training Schedule:

Basic Induction Training – 1 Week

Day – 1

 Introduction - 1 hour
 Warehouse, IQC & SQD - Half Day
 OQC & Finished Goods Stores - Half Day

Day – 2

 Production Planning & Plant Maintenance - Half Day


 Process Engineering & Product Engineering - Half Day

Day - 3

 Production Basics - Half Day


 Shop floor Tour - Half Day

Day – 4

 In-process Quality - Half Day


 Final Testing - Half Day

Day – 5

 SCM – RM & Indirect Purchase / Sourcing - Half Day


 Sales & HR - Half Day

Day – 6

 Training Summary & Evaluation

Based on paper presentation and explanation about their learning, rating and rotational department
sequence will be allotted.

 If any trainee is observed with Low rating than the expected level will not be allowed to
continue training.
 No Leave will be allowed during their Induction program.

# Respective HOD’s should ensure that all trainees are getting necessary details/input during
Induction program.

Note: End of the day, trainees should meet their co-ordinator and discuss about their learning for
the current day and get his/her training form get signed.

Operations – Management Trainee:

Duration: 12 Months

1. Production – Phase – 1 (2 Months)

 Production Basics & Hands on exp. on Process – 1 Month

 What is production and overview on overall production


 Kitting Collection & WIP Storage
 Monthly Stock Taking – CC material and Order WIP
 Production Daily Report Preparation
 Hands on Experience on critical process and machines
 Daily Down time due to Machine, Method, Material & Manpower tracking and taking
corrective action.
 Hands on training in SAP – Order Releasing and Stage wise scanning
 Safety compliance in shop floor

2. Production – Phase – 2 (2 Months)

 Shop floor Management – 1 Month

 Specific Product Line Supervision (Like Team Leader – End to End Operation) & Manpower
Handling
 Daily Rework and Rejection Tracking and corrective action plan
 Monthly Schedule Preparation Activities (Documents, PRT, Layout arrangement)
 Ensuring their group achieving Production KPI Target

At the end of training program:

 Can be able to handle the shop floor – any product line


 Effective Resource planning and utilization
 Can be able to achieve KPI actuals as per Target

3. Quality Control – Phase - 1 (2 Months)

 Incoming Quality Inspection (IQC) – 1 Month

 Understanding the material requirement through Drawing and DS


 Physical Inspection of material to confirm the acceptance
 Data collection on First-time pass based on Sampling inspection
 Supplier performance Evaluation
 System wise Stock QC posting in SAP
 Documentation update in system on day-day basis.

 In-process Quality Inspection (IPQC) – 1 Month

 Understanding the product & process requirement through TI & TS


 Physical Inspection of process for confirming the acceptance
 Record the deviations or risks in process on daily basis
 Specific product line – First off Inspection and Sampling inspection against TI and Production
Documents
 Ensuring all Gauges and Jigs are within Calibration Validity
 Check material used for production are as per Time ticket
 Daily record the rework and rejection details in floor (Semi-finished or Raw Material)

4. Quality Control – Phase - 2 (2 Months)

 Final Testing – 1 month

 Hands-on Experience on critical testing machines


 Test the products as per TS and TI requirements.
 Daily monitor the Rework and Rejection detail in Final Testing
 Daily record Down time due to Rework or machine problem

 OQC and General Documentation – 1 month

 Final Product inspection – Sampling against TI


 Packing and Labelling checking – 100%
 General Quality Documents data recording

At the end of training program:

 Can be able to work in any of QC division / any product line


 Can be able to achieve KPI actuals as per Target

5. Planning Control (PC) – (2 Months)

 Scheduling / Fixing and Order releasing – 1 Month

 System demand and forecast from SAP


 Order Fixing as per monthly schedule
 Missing material – commitment follow-up
 Order releasing co-ordination and Tracking releasing delay
 Order re-fixing in SAP

 Space Booking and Shipment Follow-up – 1 Month

 Weekly Space booking plan


 Packing Schedule preparation
 Daily meeting with Packing, Pr & QC for Shipment progress and cut-off follow-up
 Weekly Shipment cut-off plan
 Invoicing and Vehicle plan for physical movement co-ordination
 Weekly Shipment plan vs Actual

At the end of training program:

 Can be able to work independently on Order releasing or Shipment co-ordination activity


 Escalate well in advance on any delay anticipated on Material or Execution delay
 Ensuring On-time order release and Delivery as planned

6. Process Engineering (PC) – (2 Months)

 Method Study & Improvement Projects

 Method Study on pre-series type based on Sample order evaluation


 RSA completion based on Action points closure
 Improvement’s area identification and action plan implementation (Low Pr, High Rework
Rate)
 RFC creation / Update and Closure tracking
 Production Documents – Local Language conversion
 Production Resources and Tools – Planning & Issue
 Production Documents issue to Floor

At the end of training program:

 Can be able to set a process effectively for any product


 Documentation update for WI & TI
 RFC Documentation
 RSA order follow-up

Evaluation: - (Bi – Monthly)

Training effectiveness be rated and monitored through written test & presentations.

Improvement areas and re-training need to be identified

Final Evaluation: - (At the end of duration period)

Written test and Personal Interview along with CFT (Pr, PcE, QC, PC)

Based on final evaluation rating, suitable department will be allotted to continue their training.
