Project : My ideal school

Day 1

1 : Get students to think about their ideal school: What would it be called? What kind of
school would it be (would it be a traditional formal school or a more modern alternative
school? For some examples of alternative schools, look at Jamie Oliver’s Dream
School on Youtube and at Sumerhill School on Wikipedia. What motto would you give
your school? Is there a uniform and if so, what is it like? 
Focus: Speaking and Listening, Reading

Activity 2: In teams of  4 , create your  ideal school!

what time does the school start?
what can we buy at the school canteen?
are there tests?
do we get grades or stickers?
how many subjects are there? Name them
how long are the breaks? What can you do in the breaks?
who are the teachers? Who is the director?

Review some structures that are often used in writing rules (‘Student’s must…,
‘Students can….’; ‘Students have to/don’t have to….’ In groups s$udents write a list of
10 rules for their school. Note that these don’t have to be traditional rules.

Day 2

Activity 4: 
make another poster!
A plan of your school and the school yard
A drawing of your school from outside (exterior)
A description of your school

Activity 5: (if there is enough time)


A schedule (with the school subjects, the activities and the hours).
Remind them that they have to make a presentation on Monday (if they finish
everything by Friday)!
