National foreword
This British Standard is the official English language version of
EN 10108:2004.
The UK participation in its preparation was entrusted to Technical Committee
ISE/71, Steel rods for wire drawing, which has the responsibility to:
— aid enquirers to understand the text;
— present to the responsible international/European committee any
enquiries on the interpretation, or proposals for change, and keep the
UK interests informed;
— monitor related international and European developments and
promulgate them in the UK.
A list of organizations represented on this committee can be obtained on
request to its secretary.

a By request and as agreed in an order other sizes may be provided for hot rolled rod for screws and
rivets.
b Products whose nominal diameter are shown in parentheses are not commonly produced. They may
be supplied on request by special agreement and order between producer and user.
c For the austenitic stainless steel in diameter up to 1 0 mm the tolerances are ±0,1 0 mm, unless
otherwise agreed.
d For stainless steels these nominal masses shall be adjusted according to the steel densities given
in EN 1 0088-1 .
Tolerance on ovality (difference between maximum and minimum diameters at the same cross section) shall not
exceed 80% of the total tolerance on the diameter.
