A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN II

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students are able to:

A. Follow the steps in dividing whole numbers with even 3 digit dividend
and even 1 digit divisor
B. Solve even 3 digit numbers by an even 1 digit number without reminder;
C. Solve real-life problems involving dividing whole numbers with even 3
digit dividend and even 1 digit divisor.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
A. Subject Matter: DIVIDING WHOLE NUMBERS WITH EVEN THREE DIGIT
DIVIDEND AND EVEN ONE DIGIT DIVISOR
B. References: textbook; https://divisible.info/LongDivision/How-to-
calculate-112/divided-by-8-using-long-division.html
C. Values: Solving real-life problems
D. Materials: Visual Aids and Worksheets
III. LEARNING EXPERIENCE
1. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY/ PREPARATION
A. The teacher will ask someone to lead the prayer.
B. Greetings
C. The teacher will ask the pupils to do a short review about the last
discussion.
D. After the recapitulation, the teacher will let the pupils answer the
activity.
Directions: Identify if the underlined digit is a Dividend, Divisor or
Quotient. Write your answers on the space provided.
________1. 12÷4=
________2. 15÷3=
________3. 20÷2=
________4. 10÷2=
________5. 16÷4=
The teacher will call some pupils to answer it in the blackboard. After it
the teacher will ask students to explain their answers.
2. PRESENTATION
The teacher will read a short story about Santa Claus. The teacher will
then ask some questions about the story.

Santa Claus lives in a nice city called Santa Claus Ville. Everyday he works
hard, in wrapping gifts for children. Santa Claus is very generous. He
loves to share. He looks for good children all over the land. He always
sure to have with him a bundle of toys. For the good little girls and little
boys. One day when Santa Claus is walking along the street he saw 8
children, but he has 112 candies left in his bag. So, Santa Claus divides
the candies equally to the children.
-Who are the characters of the story?
-Can you tell something about Santa? For you, is it important to share?
Why?
-But Santa has a problem, he wants to find out the total amount of
candies did each children receive?
-Do you like to help him?

The teacher will present the word problem.

Santa Claus has 112 candies. He divides it equally to the 8 children.
Santa wants to find out how many candies did each child receive in all?

Steps in Dividing Whole Numbers with even 3 digit dividend and even 1
digit divisor.
1) Set up the numbers
2) Divide;
3) Multiply;
4) Subtract;
5) Drop down the next digit.

In the problem, the given are:

112 candies left
8 children
Before you continue, note that in the problem 112 divided by 8, the
numbers are defined as follows:
112 = dividend
8 = divisor

Step 1:
Start by setting it up with the divisor 8 on the left side and the dividend 112
on the right side like this:

8⟌112

Step 2:

The divisor (8) goes into the first digit of the dividend (1), 0 time(s).
Therefore, put 0 on top:

8⟌112

Step 3:
Multiply the divisor by the result in the previous step (8 x 0 = 0) and write
that answer below the dividend.

8⟌112

Step 4:
Subtract the result in the previous step from the first digit of the dividend (1
- 0 = 1) and write the answer below.

8⟌112

-0

Step 5:
Move down the 2nd digit of the dividend (1) like this:

8⟌112

-0

11

Step 6:
The divisor (8) goes into the bottom number (11), 1 time(s). Therefore, put
1 on top:

01

8⟌112

-0

11

Step 7:
Multiply the divisor by the result in the previous step (8 x 1 = 8) and write
that answer at the bottom:

01

8⟌112

-0

11

Step 8:
Subtract the result in the previous step from the number written above it.
(11 - 8 = 3) and write the answer at the bottom.

01

8⟌112

-0

11

- 8

Step 9:
Move down the last digit of the dividend (2) like this:

01

8⟌112
-0

11

- 8

32

Step 10:
The divisor (8) goes into the bottom number (32), 4 time(s). Therefore put 4
on top:
014

8⟌112

-0

11

- 8

32

Step 11:
Multiply the divisor by the result in the previous step (8 x 4 = 32) and write
the answer at the bottom:

014

8⟌112

-0

11

- 8
32

32

Step 12:
Subtract the result in the previous step from the number written above it.
(32 - 32 = 0) and write the answer at the bottom.

014

8⟌112

-0

11

- 8

32

- 32

You are done, because there are no more digits to move down from the
dividend.

The answer is the top number and the remainder is the bottom number.

Therefore, the answer to 112 divided by 8 calculated using Long Division

is:

14
0 Remainder

3. PERFORMANCE
The teacher will give instructions to the pupils to answer the activity
involving dividing whole numbers with even 3 digit dividend and even 1 digit
divisor.

Direction: Find the quotient of the following:

1. 124 2. 100 3. 150

÷ 2 ÷ 10 ÷ 6

4. 104 5. 200
÷ 4 ÷ 8

IV. EVALUATION
The pupils will be instructed to solve real-life problems involving
division of ehole numbers with even 3 digit dividend and even 1
digit divisor.

Direction: Solve the following problems.

1. 144 books are to be arranged equally in shelves. If 8 books are

arranged in each shelf, how many shelves will be needed?
2. 6 families went on trip which cost them $132. If each family
share the cost equally, how much did each family pay?
3. If 150 kg of wheat is packed in 6 bags, how much wheat will
each bag contain?
4. 100 people have been invited to a banquet. The caterer is
arranging tables. Each table can seat 10 people. How many
tables are needed?
5. A bus can hold 160 passengers. If there are 8 rows of seats on
the bus, how many seats are in each row?
V. ASSIGNMENT
The teacher will let the students formulate or find 1 real-life problem
involving division of whole numbers and solve it.
Direction: Find or formulate 1 real-life problem involving division of
whole numbers with even 3 digit dividend and even 1 digit divisor.
Solve it and show your solutions. 10 pts.
