    Personal Statement
    Growing up I was always inspired by the strong women in my life as I watched them work
    multiple jobs and persevere through adversity. Learning and gaining wisdom from my mother
    and my aunts allowed me to set goals for myself early on so that I was content and well versed in
    what I wanted to do, and how I wanted to influence others. Because I did not have the “silver-
    spoon” lifestyle, there was struggle and frustration in my journey and not once did the women in
    my life give up on themselves or me. The influence that they possess over my life is the same
    influence that I want to give other women through the industry of science and medicine. I want
    to be able to be a support system for every woman that will become my mentor, my patient, and
    my teacher in the years to come. As I approach my last days in college, I will be applying to
    medical school so that I can fulfill my journey to become and OB/GYN. I have a passion to
    empower and encourage women, all while bringing new life into this world. Babies are the
    greatest form of love, and I know growing up I was the reason my mom worked so hard so that
    she could enjoy the finer things in life later. I know that my choice of schooling may take some
    time, so while I am in school, I will also be planning out my entrepreneur plans. I want to
    establish my own brand of scrubs that will be comfortable, yet fashionable on the job. As I will
    look aesthetically pleasing in my workplace, I also want to open my own women’s wellness
    shelter that will be an outreach center for all women that seek mental and emotional guidance. I
    feel that women are the most neglected being in America, and we must stand together to make a
    difference for ourselves and the women that will come after us. I plan to tackle all these plans for
    myself because it was instilled in me to always finish a task in excellence. I am proud to have the
    women in my life because they shaped me into being a phenomenal woman, and a woman who
    wants to help others and connect with different kinds of people so that I can adapt and adjust to
    various perspectives. I enjoy the science industry, that was my favorite subject all throughout
    school and that is how I knew I had a passion for it because I always respected the method of an
    ever-evolving industry. We come across so many ideas and things in this world that science has
    contributed too, and that is why I want to become a doctor. I want to be apart of the world of
    change, that contributes to a cure for cancer and other treatment options that can help with
    infertility. In the next ten years, I will have graduated from medical school and will be
    celebrating the launch of my scrubs line. Launch the opening of women’s shelter all while
    celebrating success, love, courage, and science.
