CHAPTER 1

THE PROBLEM

Introduction

Parents are the most important members of any family. They are

the builders of future generations. It ensures that future generations will

act in the same way as their parents do or teach them. Furthermore,

parents can only offer good advice or point them in the right direction,

but the final shaping of a child is entirely up to them. Every family has

their own styles in growing up their children. Their children will behave

like what their parents teach them. In addition, single parents have less

time to help children with homework, are less likely to use consistent

discipline, and have less parental control.

A single parent faces doubled responsibilities requiring more time,

attention and money, which of course may not be enough. On the other

hand, the stress of having to find the necessity of life such as food,

shelter and clothing for the family by a single parent subsequently places

them at risk of becoming detached from their children, and compromises

their ability to succeed in their academics. Being a single-parent can

bring on and indeed increment passionate and monetary hardships.

Whereas numerous single guardians are as of now active with work and

children, a few are choosing to include to the free for all by beginning
their possess trade. Going to classes whereas raising children can test

understudies in numerous ways. By arranging ahead, student-parents

can guarantee they select a school that provides childcare and other

bolster administrations to assist them succeed.

The researcher decided to conduct this study regarding the

common factors of single mother in Opol Community College in the hope

that this would provide a significant help in the school by providing

information. On how they provide quality of life for their family and

themselves. This study provides a glimpse into the lives of single

mothers, the situations they face, as they strive to gain a higher

education while they care for their family.

Conceptual Framework

The figure shows the concept of the research entitled “Quality Of

Life Among Single Mother In Opol Community College” The

independent variable of this research is the demographic profile of each

participants in terms of the Age,Gender,Educational background. The

dependent variable of the research Quality Of Life Among Single Mother

In Opol Community College respondents as regard: Financial Support,

Challenges Of Being A Single Mother And A Student, Quality Time and

Socialization of Being a Mom and a student.

Statement of the Problem

This study investigated on the Quality of Life among Single Mother

In Opol Community College.

Specifically, this study sought to find answers to the following

questions:

1.How are the respondents distributed in terms of:

1.4. No.of Children

2. What is the quality of life of the respondents in regards of:

2.1. Financial Support

2.2. Challenges of Being A Single Mother And A Students

Scope and Limitation

This study focuses all the students in Opol Community College.

This study involves survey to be distributed the students by

department. The selection of the respondents is only limited because

there are many number of students in OCC. This research is designed

to have a thorough knowledge about the quality of life among single

mother in opol community college. The study will focus on the aspects

of the demographic profile limiting only to Age, Gender,Educational

attainment and No.of Children and the relationship of the quality of

life of the respondents in regards of: Financial Support,Challenges of

Being A Single Mother And A Students,Quality Time,and Socialization

of Being a Mom and a student. The researcher’s primary method of

collecting data will be through random sampling by utilizing survey

questionnaires which focuses on the different responses of the

correspondents.

Significant Of The Study


Chapter 2

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter discloses the methods and procedures used in the

conduct of this study. Specifically mentioned here are research design,

research environment, research respondents,sampling procedure,

research instrument, categorization of variable, and statistical treatment.

Research Design

This study will use the descriptive- survey of research, utilizing the

questionnaire as the main gathering tool,which will be supported by

relevant confidential information based on interview.

Research Environment

This study will be conducted in Opol Community College, Opol

Misamis Oriental. The municipality of Opol considered as a smallest

municipality and has 14 barangays.


Research Respondent and Sampling Procedure

The participants of the study were the students of all courses in Opol

Community College. This includes the following courses such as BSBA,

BEED, BSED and BSIT students. The researcher will distribute the

Survey manually using pen and paper for the printed Questionnaires.

Instead of conducting it through Google forms, it is much convenient

if the researchers will survey manually since they will also conduct an

interview from the respondents.

Categorization Of Variables

This study uses two types of variable known as the Dependent and

Independent variable. The Independent variable of this research is the

demographic profile of each participants in terms of the Age, Gender,

Educational Background and No.of Children. The Dependent variable of

the research was the relationship of the quality of life of the respondents

in regards of:Financial Support,Challenges of Being A Single Mother And

A Students,Quality Time,and Socialization of Being a Mom and a

student. This will help the researcher take different value to measure the

changes and data collected.

Statistical Treatment
The responses of the students of Opol Community College of the

given survey will be statistically analyzed by the researcher.

The researcher will analyzed the responses by looking for its frequency

by counting and using percentage.
