Welcome to the Kindergarten Self-Learning Module on the topic All About Animals!

This Self-Learning Module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators from the Schools Division
Office of Pasig City headed by its Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A. Agustin, in
partnership with the City Government of Pasig through its mayor, Honorable Victor Ma. Regis N. Sotto. The writers utilized the
standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum using the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) in developing this instructional
resource.

This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and independent learning activities at their own pace and
time. Further, this also aims to help learners acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs, namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character while taking into consideration their needs and circumstances.

There are common animals that we see around us. We see them inside or
outside our houses like dogs, cats and birds. We also see them in the farm like goat, pig,
chicken cow and ducks.

LESSON 2: Different Body Parts and Movements of
Animals

Animals have different body parts. They also move in different ways.
Dogs, cats, carabao, horses and goats walk and run fast using their feet

while lizard, turtles and crocodiles walk slowly because their short legs.

Snake and worm have no legs so they crawl on the ground using their belly.
Some animals have front legs and hind legs. Their hind legs push their body and
jump forward like frogs, grasshoppers and rabbits.

Animals that have wings make them fly like flies, butterfly and birds.

Animals that have fins enable them to swim like fish.

LESSON 3: Where Do Animals Live?

Animals live in a place where it can get food, protection and other things they need
in order to live. It is called habitat. Some animals live on land, trees and in water. Cats,
horses, goats, pigs, chicken and dogs live on land while earthworms and ants live under
the ground.
Birds, butterflies and other insects live on trees and plants. They can fly in the air using
their wings.

Animals that live in water have their fins and flat tails to help them move. Fish, shark
and whales have gills that help them breathe under the water. Crabs, shrimp, octopus
and squids also live in water.

Animals help us in many ways. Some animals help us to move from one place to
