The Senior High School Students Of Maloco

INTRODUCTION

A pancake is a flat cake, often thin, and round, prepared from a starch-based
butter that may also contain eggs, milk and butter and oil or butter. They may be
served at any time with variety of toping or fillings including jam, fruit, chocolate
chips, or meat.(https://www.bettycrocker.com)

According to Philippine land-links Organization, Philippines consists of 7,107


islands covering 300,000 square kilometers (30 million nectars), including 289,170
square kilometers of land and 1,830 square kilometers of water. Philippines is known
for different availability of food because of the great extent of land that can be
planted by different root crops. That is why Filipino’s are known for eating “Kakanin”
or rice made delicacies, and one of those is pancake, which considered as Filipino’s
favorite food. To become more attractive and nutritious for the students the
researchers ensured that the Banana oats pancake offers different forms of nutrients
that might help improve immune function in order to make it more appealing and
healthful for the students.

The word pancakes appear in print as early as 1430.Archaeology evidence


suggest that pancake are probably the earliest and most widespread cereal food in
Prehistoric societies. In addition, the first pancake were called Alita Dolcia (“another
sweet” in Latin) and were made by Romans in the 1 st Century AD.(Barker,2014)
STATEMENT OF THE STUDY

This study aims to find the acceptability level of Banana Oats Pancake for the
Senior High School Students of Maloco National High School.

Specifically it seeks to answer the following questions:

1.What is the acceptability level of original Pancake and Banana Oats Pancake?

2.What is the acceptability level of Banana Oats Pancake in terms of its appearance,
taste, smell, color and texture?

3.Is their significant difference between the acceptability level of original Pancake
and Banana Oats Pancake?

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY

This study is to know the level of acceptability of the Banana Oats Pancake to
the Senior High School Students of Maloco National High School. Researcher
randomly select 25 respondents who are from the different section of Technology
Livelihood Education students with the age range of 16-19 years old. The
researchers objective is to continue the healthy eating habits of the said students.
Therefore, the researcher made the Banana Oats Pancake and gave as the sample
for the respondent of the researcher. The respondents will answer a questionnaire to
find the out if this will be beneficial and acceptable to them.
DEFINITION AND TERMS

o BANANA

-A long curved fruit with a thick peel that is yellow when it is ripe.(Merriam
Webster)

-In this research, a banana is the characterized as a flavorful and healthy fruit.

o BANANA OATS PANCAKE

-Light and fluffy with simple and healthy


ingredients.(https//www.wellplated.com)

-Banana oats pancake is defined in this study as a food consisting of a dough


prepared from banana fruit and flavored oats.

o COLOR

-The property possessed by an object of producing different sensation on the


eye as a result of the way of the object reflects or emits.(Oxford Language,2022)

-Color is defined in this study as the ability to induce a variety of sensation on


the eye as a function of how it is displayed.

o Excellent

-Extremely good and outstanding.(Merriam Webster)

-Excellent was defined as something out of the ordinary in this study.

o Good

-To be desired and approved of satisfying. (Merriam Webster)

-In this study, “good” was defined as fines standards.


o Nutrients

-A substance that provides nourishment essential for growth and maintenance


of life.(Merriam Webster)

-Nutrients includes vitamins that can get to a particular food in this study.

o Oats

-A kind of grain that is widely grown.(Merriam Webster)

- Oats are defined as a flour alternative and mixture in this study.

o Smell

-The faculty or power of perceiving odor and scents.(Oxford Language)

-Smell is defined in this study as the odor of food that respondent and
researchers can experience.

o Taste

-The sense of flavored food.(Merriam Webster)

-Taste was defined in this study as the result of a food’s relish.

o Texture

-The feel, appearance, or consistency of food.(Oxford Language, 2022)

-Texture is defined as the way it feels and appears in this study.

o Satisfactory

-Acceptable though not outstanding perfect.(Merriam Webster)

-In this study, satisfactory defined as an expectation that was not met.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

 STUDENTS – This research will assist students in developing a healthy lifestyle and
nutrition, which will help them develop a healthier body that is impervious to illness
and disease.

 PARENTS- They can encourage to cook the banana oats pancakes because they
are nutritious and high in nutrients such as potassium and minerals, which support in
their children’s healthy development.

 TEACHERS- Teacher can have a new idea on how to prepare snack for their family.
They can also encourage each students to eat a nutritious pancake.

 RESEARCHER- It would support the researcher in developing the skills and


knowledge required to effectively complete the research study, as well as inspire the
creation of new distinctive foods.

 FUTURE RESEARCHER- This work can be used as a reference or a guide for


future researchers. They could obtain insight and ideas on how to develop a reliable
information and accurate research study if they utilize this study as a reference.
CHAPTER II

METHODOLOGY

Locale of the Study

This study was conducted at Maloco National High School, Maloco Ibajay,
Aklan Philippines. It is 5km away from the town proper of Ibajay.

Respondents of the Study

The researcher was limited for 25(twenty five) student-respondent from Grade
12 students of Malaco National High School, Maloco, Ibajay, Aklan School Year
2021-2022 during the Pre-final of Second Semester.

Sampling Technique

The researchers used the Purposive Technique. In this technique, the


selected respondents were composed of Technology Vocational Livelihood students
of Grade 12 of Maloco National High School. From each of them, they will be given a
slice of banana oats pancake and questionnaire to find out if it is beneficial and
acceptable to them.

Research Instrument

The data were gathered through the questionnaire of Maloco National High
School students which composes of 25 students from Grade 12 Technology
Vocational Livelihood.

Gathering Procedure

To collect data information, the researchers asked for a permission to their


perspective advisers of the following students who are Grade 12 Senior High School
of Maloco NHS in line with Inquiries, Investigation and Immersion. The researcher
ask for permission of the selected students from 3 section namely, Dewey, Bruner,
and Piaget.
