Introduction to Admin functions
Security (Users, LDAP Users, User Roles, Departments)
Users : You may create, delete & modify users.
You may also modify their visibility area like restricting access to fewer
sections or just allowing access to specific sections. For more
information on data security refer to section –
To add a new user, navigate to +New Button.
You need to mention the following:
1. First Name
2. Last Name
3. User Name (for login process)
4. Email (for alerts)
5. Password
6. Confirm Password
Admin
7. Departments
8. Role Group
9. Status
a. Enable (for active users)
b. Disable (There is an option to delete too!)
10. Description (Not mandatory)

LDAP Servers : You may create Lightweight Directory Access Protocol

Server to add users from Active Directory or LDAP Directory. This is
generally used for authentication protocol. WINManage facilitates
“Single Sign-on” with the help of LDAP Server.
Note: To add users from Active Directory it is mandatory to have a group
name “WINManage users” (case sensitive) of mentioned IP address
(during LDAP creation).
LDAP server shall fetch the users from Active Directory itself. Default
port is 389.
Admin
Once you have created LDAP server, you need to enable LDAP
authentication.
Navigate to Other Settings > Global Settings
Admin
Turn on the LDAP authentication.
Now the users mention in group “WINManage users” in AD will be able
to sign in using same credentials used in Active Directory.
The synced users from the same group will now show up in Admin >
Users.
Admin
Departments : You may create, modify & delete departments; eventually
you may also assign users to specific departments. There can to two
different approaches for this –
1. Department based on Sites
2. Department based on Designation/Role
To create a new department navigate to +New button.
Here you just need to mention the name of the department. You may
also write a short description for your reference.
There is a provision to update & delete the department too.
Admin
User Roles : Many teams need to strictly regulate access to monitoring
data and settings. For example, if you have team members who work
exclusively on monitoring (support engineers, devops engineers) or if
you use a managed service provider, you may want to grant them access
to only specific monitoring data while restricting their ability to create,
modify, or delete widgets/alerts/dashboard.
WINManage’s user roles module is designed to help limit access to
resources in a subscription while still enabling those responsible for
monitoring infrastructure to obtain and configure the data they need.
When you have discovered servers, switches, and hypervisors for
monitoring, the IP or user group that is assigned to the entity
determines the data collection and provisioning functions that you may
use.
To create a new user navigate to +New button on top right corner.
Admin
You may create user roles like –
1. Networking Team
2. QA
3. Server Team etc.
You may restrict their visibility by checking off the respective box.
You may also update or delete the user later.
Admin
Data Security: You may assign specific IP addresses/entities to specific
departments to protect sensitive database and at the same time project
the energy of the departments in the right direction.
For example – Networking department should be able to
access/view/modify network devices only. Server Department should
have access/view/modify servers only.
Here we have assigned some of the devices to Site A Team.
Admin
Audit : Audit contains all the logs of the activity in WINManage Server.
WINManage has a provision to retain up to 1 Lakh Audit logs. All the
recent changes made in WINManage Server will show up in the initial
pages, the logs will sort based on the age.
You may also export the audit logs by clicking Export button on top right
corner. The logs shall be exported in excel format.
Admin
Alert Settings (Business Hours, Mail Server)
Business Hours : Once you have configured business hours, you will
receive alerts based on the business hours you have mentioned.
By default the business hour in WINManage server is 24x7, you may add
the business hour as per your working hours.
To create your own custom business hour navigate to + New button on
top right corner.
Now, whenever you create an Alert you may crosslink the business hour
as per your comfort.
Admin

criteria you mention.
