High Pressure Low Volume Water Screen Cleaning System

The High Pressure Low Volume Pressure Washer is highly recommended for cleaning shaker screens. During normal operations
shaker screens can be blinded by sand, silt, clay and/or polymers. Polyacrylamide polymers have an affinity for steel and the long
chains used for viscosity and encapsulation tend to blind shaker screens. Removal of the particles imbedded in the screen layers as
well as polymer requires a high pressure water source. The KTPW-86-6 Pressure Washer at 1200 psi, accomplishes this with only 6
liters per minute of water.

Why Dewatering is Necessary

The Kem-Tron Drilling Mud Dewatering Unit

provides a drilling rig with a way to avoid dumping
whole (liquid) mud into the reserve pit (sump) and
still maintain the desired drilling mud properties.
This is necessary where the discharge of liquid waste
is restricted, particularly for environmental reasons.
Dewatering also allows return of clear water to the
mud system, thus minimizing water usage.

Traditional “Closed Loop” systems consisting of

a Shale Shaker, Desander, Desilter and Solids
Control Centrifuge help retain valuable chemicals
while removing fine solids from 2 to 74 microns and
up. However, the above mentioned equipment is
unable to prevent the build-up of ultra fine or col-
loidal solids. Nothing can remove them with the
exception of particle destabilization and floccula-
tion (dewatering).

A few of the problems associated with the accumula-

tion of colloidal solids:
• Pore plugging of producing formation.
• Stuck drill pipe due to poor lubricity characteris-
tics of the wall cake.
• Slow drill bit penetration caused by increased Compact, Mobile, 20’ Dewatering Unit
plastic viscosity.
• Increased mud density and gel strengths that
lead to a loss of whole mud to the formation.
