Energy Imports from Iran


Working group of experts from both countries should explore the vistas of opportunities of
mutual cooperation and for legal payment mechanism to import commodities

• Crude Oil
▪ Iran may be requested to provide Crude Oil on credit basis or in PKR, if possible.
▪ Iran shall be requested to provide Crude Oil on concessionary rates.
▪ PRL Byco and Parco to decide either to import Iranian Light / Iranian Heavy (Iran)
• Natural Gas Imports via Virtual Pipeline (CNG Mother-Daughter System)
▪ Three Hundred (300) Gas Transport Modules (GTM) with prime movers are
available 80 km from Gawadar which can import Natural Gas
▪ Thirty-two (32) Compressors of 2000 m3/hr are also available for mother station
▪ Each GTM can carry 4-5 tons of Natural Gas stored as CNG. Mother Station (CNG)
80 km distance from Pakistan border to Iran Border.
• Augmentation of Irani LPG import
▪ Storage is being built in Mir Jawa in Iran by private company near Taftan which
can be commissioned before the coming Winters
▪ Pakistani private company or SOEs can built storage in Taftan
▪ LPG can be imported via Railway in ISO Container as track is laid to mid country
▪ Legal Mechanism for sea import can also be explored if possible
• Finished Petroleum Products
▪ HSD and Motor Spirit can be imported if possible
• Power/Electricity Import
▪ Gas Turbines and Grid is available near Gawadar
▪ Installation of transmission lines for connecting the Makran division to the
national grid on a priority basis
• Urea Plant in Gawadar
▪ Urea plants can be relocated to Gawadar utilizing Iranian Gas
▪ 80 km pipeline need to laid down for this purpose
