SCHOOL –BASED LEARNING ACTION CELL (LAC) ACTIVITY PLAN


SY 2020 – 2021

I. Introduction

Teaching reading comprehension to non-readers and frustration level readers


today is very different from the past. That is why as a teacher we need to focus
and follow some steps in way of teaching to our pupils. But, teachers will share
some specific and accurate learning to the pupils if they are well skilled and
trained enough.Learning Action Cell (LAC) is one of the best practices and has
proven to be effective in helping, collaborating and sharing teachers in the
school fight the battle of every school year with weapons of confidence, passion,
dedication and lots of teaching strategies in facing the realities in the world of
teaching.
Reading interventions and other strategies are activities that will help struggling
readers develop their ability to read. To become an effective reading teacher we
have to consider some factor in dealing pupils in order to capture their interest
to absorb all the important details that we are going to teach them. Thus, LAC
session is best for all of us as a teacher to refresh and acquire some knowledge
and techniques on how to educate children accurately to comply the set of
competencies
Mabaus Elementary School in the previous school year, for some inevitable
circumstances was not able to complete the expected number of LAC sessions
in all areas.

Teachers during classroom observations echoed to have a hard time realizing


their lesson plans following the Classroom Observation Tool (COT) anchored on
the Results-based Performance Management System (RPMS). The grade 3
teacher who is expected to start teaching the English Language also had
struggles on the teaching process because of the lack of readiness from among
children in terms of decoding and reading skills. Thus resulting to more
frustration readers in terms of decoding and comprehension from grade 3 to 6.
The grade 4 to 6 teachers also shared sentiments of their pupils’ difficulties in
completing their formal and informal themes due to poor knowledge on
sentence construction, subject verb agreement and the use of punctuations.

Mabaus Elementary school aim to conduct LAC sessions that will address the
needs of the teachers handling pupils who are struggling in reading. Thus, these
problems in the previous school year are the bases for this school year’s LAC
sessions in the English Curriculum amidst the covid-19 crisis.

Due to the covid-19 pandemic that the nation is facing, LAC sessions may be
conducted virtually via video conferencing. That is why, internet load is
absolutely needed and some office supplies for the outputs are also expected.

all the sessions are also expected.
