xii
1. Introduction
This chapter provides an overview of the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem equipment and its
implementation.
The I/A Series DCS Fieldbus Modules for Fisher PROVOX Series 20 systems (or DCS Fieldbus
Module subsystem) provide a means of migrating control of loops from Fisher PROVOX
Series 20 equipment to an I/A Series system. The DCS Fieldbus Modules plug directly into an
existing electronic nest to replace process input/output module cards. Original process termina-
tion and field I/O wiring is retained, while all process signals become fully integrated into the
I/A Series system. The DCS Fieldbus Modules interchange process measurement and output sig-
nals, and discrete and analog input and output signals, communicating directly with the
I/A Series system. Two of the DCS Fieldbus Modules also provide analog I/O capabilities for
HART™ devices.
The equipment required for making the upgrade to the Fisher PROVOX Series 20 system must
be ordered from IOM Global Customer Support. Most must be ordered as individual pieces;
however, some of this equipment are provided in migration kits, discussed later in this chapter.
The newly installed DCS Fieldbus Modules interchange process measurement and output signals
and digital input/output signals directly with the I/A Series system. All process signals are fully
integrated into the I/A Series system, allowing direct I/A Series system monitoring and control of
the process. Operating in conjunction with the I/A Series control and management software, the
DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem provides advanced plant-wide control, display, history, alarm-
ing, and information management capabilities.
Connection between the newly installed DCS Fieldbus Modules and the I/A Series control pro-
cessor (CP) is via the I/A Series Fieldbus. The DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem can exist as a sin-
gle entity on the I/A Series Fieldbus, can be combined with other DCS Fieldbus Module
subsystems on the Fieldbus, or can be mixed with I/A Series Fieldbus Modules (FBMs) and/or
other Fieldbus-based process interface subsystems.

Available Implementations
The I/A Series system can use two implementations of the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem:
♦ The current subsystem, currently available - includes DCS FBMs based on I/A Series
200 Series FBMs which operate via a 2 Mbps HDLC fieldbus
♦ The legacy subsystem, not available for new subsystems; however, its components are
available for order by owners of existing subsystems - includes DCS FBMs based on
I/A Series 100 Series FBMs which operate via a 268 Kbps HDLC fieldbus
In addition to the major components described in the implementation sections below, various
supporting hardware items (Fieldbus cables, equipment labels, termination cable assemblies, and
so forth) are also included in each subsystem migration kit.
Installation of the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem does not require special tools. However, it
does require a basic knowledge of I/A Series system concepts. Refer to System Equipment Installa-
tion (B0193AC) and DIN Rail Mounted Subsystem User's Guide (B0400FA).

1
B0193YV – Rev K 1. Introduction

NOTE
When planning any additions or modifications to your DCS Fieldbus Module sub-
system, be aware of the following:
The Field Control Processor (FCP) can support a mixture of DCS Fieldbus Mod-
ules (FBMs) from both the current and legacy subsystems, as it supports both
268 Kbps and 2 Mbps signals. The FCP270 supports dual-baud communications
on its HDLC fieldbus. The FCP280 does not support dual-baud communications
on any of its HDLC fieldbuses, but it provides four HDLC fieldbuses; one can sup-
port 268 Kbps HDLC communications while another can support 2 Mbps HDLC
communications.
While the Z-Module Control Processor (ZCP270) can support DCS FBMs from
either the current or legacy subsystems, as it can communicate via 2 Mbps and
268 Kbps signals, the FCM100E can only communicate via 2 Mbps or 268 Kbps
signals, not both in the same cardfile. When configuring a ZCP to support both 2
Mbps and 268 Kbps signals, be aware that you must add a dedicated pair of
FCM100Es for each type of communication - for example, one redundant
FCM100E/Et for the 2 Mbps signals and one redundant FCM100E for the
268 Kbps signals, with both redundant FCM100Es connected to the same ZCP.

Current Subsystem Implementation

Figure 1-1 shows implementation of a typical current DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem (that is,
based on 200 Series FBMs communicating via a 2 Mbps HDLC fieldbus) for a Series 20 CP6701
Input/Output Control System.
Major components of the current DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem are as follows. (See
Appendix A “Hardware Specifications” for detailed functional specifications.)
♦ DCS Fieldbus Modules – Operating in conjunction with the I/A Series control pro-
cessor, these replacement modules perform the same functions as the I/O cards in the
CP6701 control I/O cardfile assembly. Up to 14 DCS Fieldbus Modules migrate the
CL6721, CL6821, CL6822, CL6824, CL6825, CL6826 and CL6921
Fisher PROVOX cards in the cardfile.
♦ Fieldbus Isolators – The Fieldbus Isolator (F2DFBI) provides electrical isolation
between the I/A Series Fieldbus and the newly installed DCS Fieldbus Modules. Two
Fieldbus Isolators mount on the Dual Baud Fieldbus Isolator Carrier Board
(F2DFBC) (see Figure 1-1).
♦ Dual Baud Fieldbus Isolator Carrier Board – A card frame which provides for mount-
ing of the two Fieldbus Isolators in the cardfile and power connection.
♦ Redundant Diode/Jumper Cards (F2MDOR) provide distribution of the primary and
secondary 24 V dc power sources to the DCS Fieldbus Modules.

Legacy Subsystem Implementation

Figure 1-2 shows implementation of a typical legacy DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem (that is,
based on 100 Series FBMs communicating via a 268Kbps HDLC fieldbus) for a Series 20
CP6701 Input/Output Control System.
Major components of the legacy DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem are as follows. (See
Appendix A “Hardware Specifications” for detailed functional specifications.)
♦ DCS Fieldbus Modules – Operating in conjunction with the I/A Series control pro-
cessor, these replacement modules perform the same functions as the I/O cards in the
CP6701 control I/O cardfile assembly. Up to 14 DCS Fieldbus Modules replace the
CL6721, CL6821, CL6822, CL6824, CL6825, CL6826 and CL6921
Fisher PROVOX cards in the cardfile.
♦ Fieldbus Isolators – The Fieldbus Isolator (F2SFBI) provides electrical isolation
between the I/A Series Fieldbus and the DCS Fieldbus Modules. Two Fieldbus Isola-
tors mount on the Fieldbus carrier board (see Figure 1-2).
♦ Fieldbus Isolator Carrier Board – A card frame which serves two purposes:
♦ Provides for mounting of the two Fieldbus Isolators in the cardfile, and
♦ Provides distribution of the primary 24 V dc power from the power connection
card to the DCS Fieldbus Modules.

“Configuration”).

I/A Series Hardware/Software Support

The DCS Fieldbus Modules are modified I/A Series Fieldbus Modules (FBMs) in a Fisher PRO-
VOX form factor. Addressing is accomplished by standard I/A Series letterbugs.
The DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem can be configured to interface with an I/A Series single or
fault-tolerant control processor, such as the FCP280 and FCP270. The subsystem connects to the
standard I/A Series Fieldbus and can coexist on the Fieldbus with other I/A Series Fieldbus
devices, provided control processor loading constraints are observed.
Version 8.6 (or later) of the I/A Series software is required for the current subsystem, which
includes F2M214, F2M215 or F2M239 support.
For the DCS Fieldbus Modules which support HART devices (F2M214 and F2M215), refer to
HART Communication Interface Modules User's Guide (B0400FF) for details about how these
FBMs support HART communications. F2M214, F2M215, and F2M239 must be configured as,
respectively, FBM214, FBM215, and FBM239.

Terminology
This document uses certain terms specific to the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem and the
I/A Series system. Understanding these terms is essential to understanding this document:

Control Processor Field Control Processor 280 (FCP280), Field Control Processor 270
(FCP270), Z-Module Control Processor 270 (ZCP270), Control Proces-
sor 60 (CP60), or Control Processor 40 (CP40). This device, together
with its associated I/O modules, performs regulatory, logic, timing, and
sequential control functions as well as data acquisition, alarm detection,
and notification in an I/A Series system. The CP communicates with
workstation processors (WPs), application processors (APs), Fieldbus
Modules (FBMs), and Fieldbus Processors (FBPs). It controls process vari-
ables using algorithms contained in functional control blocks configured
by on-site process engineers to implement the desired control strategies.

FBM Fieldbus Modules (FBMs). In an I/A Series system, these modules provide
the interface between process sensors/actuators and the Fieldbus.

Fieldbus An optionally redundant serial bus conforming to the EIA standards’ gen-
eral requirements for RS-485. The Fieldbus carries data communications
on a twinaxial cable between the I/A Series input/output modules on the
Fieldbus (Fieldbus Modules and DCS Fieldbus Modules, for example),
and their associated control processors.

IACC I/A Series Configuration Component.

Letterbug In the I/A Series system, a plastic character which, when interlocked with
other plastic characters, forms a 6-character module identifier. Letters
printed on the front are read visually by the user; pin connectors at the
back are read electrically by the computer.

TCA Termination cable assembly. This component provides a means of attach-

ing the Fieldbus to the Fieldbus Isolators (at the DCS Fieldbus Module
subsystem end) and the control processor (at the I/A Series system end).

B0193YV – Rev K 1. Introduction

Planning Ahead
Personnel who should be involved with the planning process include sales support personnel, sys-
tem engineers, software engineers, and process control engineers. For throughput and sizing infor-
mation tailored to your system, consult your Invensys engineering or sales support representative.
There are three major areas of concern when planning a system:
♦ System Configuration

During system configuration (or system definition) you select and define the hardware
and software for the system. The end product of this configuration is a disk that
defines the network equipment packaging, documents the configuration, provides a
list of material for the quotation system, and enables software installation. Prior to
undertaking this configuration you should determine the number and types of loops
and blocks in the process control scheme, and memory and throughput requirements
based on block definition, scan rates, and other block-related functions that can affect
the number and selection of hardware items.
♦ Process Control Configuration

With the InFusion™ Engineering Environment (IEE), Integrated Control Configu-

rator (ICC) or I/A Series Configuration Component (IACC), you define compounds,
continuous and sequential control blocks, and ladder logic. You lay out the schemes
for your compounds and blocks prior to actually performing a configuration on the
system. You then use the resulting information, in conjunction with information on
the system configuration worksheets, to arrive at a final plan for hardware and soft-
ware, and a final process control strategy.
♦ Equipment Installation

Equipment installation does not require special tools. However, it does require a basic
knowledge of I/A Series Nodebus and Fieldbus hardware concepts. This knowledge
can be attained by reviewing System Equipment Installation (B0193AC) and DIN Rail
Mounted Subsystem User's Guide (B0400FA).

12
2. Equipment Installation
This section provides procedures for installing the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem equipment.

NOTE
To minimize interruption of the process, it may be desirable to perform system con-
figuration (or system definition) prior to installing the DCS Fieldbus Module sub-
system equipment. If this is the case for your installation, refer to Chapter 3
“Configuration” and proceed with the system configuration (or definition) process.

Pre-Installation Requirements
Before starting the actual equipment installation (as described in the following subsections) per-
form the following:
1. Perform the system configuration for the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem (refer to
Chapter 3 “Configuration”).
2. Determine the module identifiers (letterbugs) for the DCS Fieldbus Modules. (Refer
to “Module Identifier (Letterbug) Assignments” on page 66, and to the I/A Series sys-
tem configuration/definition reports.)
3. Perform the integrated control configuration for the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem
(refer to Chapter 3 “Configuration”).
4. Perform an orderly shutdown of the process associated with the equipment to be
modified, and remove ac power from the equipment rack(s) in question.

F2M239 DCS Fieldbus Module Channel I/O Modes and

Termination Panel Mapping
F2M239 DCS Fieldbus Module (P0973HL), available for use with the current DCS Fieldbus
Module subsystem, supports output readback functionality and four channel I/O modes. To use
any of these, you should be familiar with how I/O channels are mapped in the F2M239 and its
associated termination panel.
F2M239 supports five separate channel I/O modes:
♦ 16 digital input (DI)
♦ 16 digital output (DO)
♦ 8 DI/8 DO
♦ 8 DO/8 DI
♦ Any mix of Inputs or Outputs (refer to “F2M239 “Any Mix of Inputs or Outputs”
Channel I/O Mode” on page 15)
To support readback functionality, the F2M239’s input channels connect to the output channels
as shown in Figure 2-1.

F2M239 has 16 input channels and 16 output channels which are connected together in two
groups of 8 channels each as shown in Figure 2-1. When output channels are selected for the ter-
mination panel, the corresponding input channels may be used as readback channels to verify that
the output channel of the F2M239 has changed to the requested state.
If the state of the readback input disagrees with the state of the corresponding output channel,
control block logic in the CP may be used to present that information to the I/A Series® system
for display as a control block alarm.
When set to 16 DI mode, the input channels used by the I/A Series system are mapped to the ter-
mination panel’s inputs as shown in Table 2-1.

A pair of switches on the F2M239 sets the mode (input or output) for each block of channels on
the termination panel, as described in Figure 2-8 “Setting Switches on the F2M239 Digital I/O
Card” on page 22.

F2M239 “Any Mix of Inputs or Outputs” Channel I/O Mode

Alternatively, the I/O channels of the F2M239 may be configured to allow any mix of input and
outputs on the card by careful attention to the configuration of the I/A Series system. The follow-
ing steps will guide you through the configuration:
1. If there are any output channels in a group of 8, then set the appropriate switches as if
there were 8 outputs in the group. Refer to Table 2-2, Table 2-3, and Table 2-4 above.
2. Channels in a group that are inputs must not be connected to a COUT output block.
If an MCOUT block is used for a group, then all of the channels that are inputs must
not have input connections and must remain at zero.
3. Failsafe data and mask parameters for input channels must be set to the default value
which is to fall back to zero.
4. Remember that the input channels 1 through 8 and output channels 9 through 16
share the I/O space, as do input channels 17 through 24 and output channels 25
through 32.

Wear a properly connected electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap while removing,
handling, and installing the DCS Fieldbus Modules. Connect the ESD strap to the
rack ground bar.
Observe the following steps when handling electronic circuitry:
1. Use the static shielding bags supplied with the DCS Fieldbus Modules.
2. Ground the bag before opening.
3. Avoid touching the DCS Fieldbus Module circuitry.

8. On each F2M2xx DCS Fieldbus Module to be installed as part of the equipment

migration, install a module identifier (letterbug set), (or two for the F2M214):

18
2. Equipment Installation B0193YV – Rev K

A module identifier, composed of six letterbugs, is used to provide physical, user-

assigned labels on the DCS Fieldbus Modules (see Figure 2-5). Each letterbug is a
small plastic device with a single character embossed on the front surface. Six inter-
locking letterbugs form a module identifier, which plugs into a receptacle on the DCS
Fieldbus Module. The rear surface of each letterbug contains pins arranged in a
unique configuration corresponding to a particular character or symbol. The required
sets of letterbugs, as specified per system configurator references, are shipped packaged
with the DCS Fieldbus Modules.
Assembly of the letterbugs to form a module identifier and the insertion of the mod-
ule identifier into the DCS Fieldbus Module are shown in Figure 2-5.To assemble and
install the module identifiers, proceed as follows:
a. Referring to “Module Identifier (Letterbug) Assignments” on page 66 and to the
I/A Series configuration reports, determine the module identifier (letter/number
combination) that pertains to the DCS Fieldbus Module in question.

NOTE
All of the letterbug characters may be any valid letterbug character. The last two char-
acters of the letterbug must be unique for the particular FCP or FCM to which the
F2M2xx DCS Fieldbus Modules are attached. Use the letterbug characters that have
been assigned to the FBM by the configuration tools.

b. Gather the six letterbugs that form the module identifier and assemble them by
inserting the dovetail end of one letterbug into the mating end of the next, until
all six letterbugs have been assembled in the proper order.
c. Insert the assembled module identifier into the receptacle on the DCS
Fieldbus Module. Exercise care, ensuring that the pins properly align with the
holes in the receptacle.
d. If you are installing module identifiers in the F2M214, insert the second module
identifier in it as well, in the orientation shown in Figure 2-6.
e. Repeat Steps a through c for all DCS Fieldbus Modules to be installed.

10. For each F2M239 DCS Fieldbus Module to be installed, set the switches to select the
desired functions of the channels in groups of eight (see Figure 2-8). Each group of
eight channels can be configured for digital input or digital output, as shown in
Figure 2-8, based on the channel mode desired for the F2M239 (that is, 16DI,
16DO, 8 DI/8 DO or 8 DO/8 DI mode), discussed in “F2M239 DCS Fieldbus
Module Channel I/O Modes and Termination Panel Mapping” on page 13.

Figure 2-8. Setting Switches on the F2M239 Digital I/O Card

Refer to “F2M239 DCS Fieldbus Module Channel I/O Modes and Termination
Panel Mapping” on page 13 to determine how each block of channels (1-8 or 9-16)
should be in the termination panel, based on the usage of the F2M239’s I/A Series
channels.
11. Install the analog input (F2M214), analog output (F2M215) and digital input/output
(F2M239) DCS Fieldbus Modules in the cardfile, making the cable connections from
the termination panels.
Before installing the F2M215, you must first disconnect and remove (or cut) both the
existing 24 V wire and Power Supply Common (PSC) from the analog output termi-
nation panel, as this FBM requires the F2MAOA cable (P0973JZ - part of kit
P0973JY) which has a ground wire (green) and must be connected to the Power Sup-
ply Common (PSC) on the analog output termination panel.
You will have to cut the 24 V wire to remove it. Be sure to isolate the exposed wire tips
with wire nuts.
When the existing PSC has been removed, connect the ground wire (green) on the
F2MAOA cable to the PSC terminal. Then install the F2M215 and then the
F2MAOA cable between the analog output termination panel and the F2M215 card,
shown in Figure 2-9.
Figure 2-9 shows the cable connections for the F2M214 and F2M215 cards.

12. For each empty slot in the cardfile, install a blank front panel (Invensys Part
Number P0918DL)
13. Place the migration kit label (Invensys Part Number P0903AN) on the left rack
mounting flange, just above the Fisher label.
14. Place the first Invensys/Foxboro label (P0930TE) on the front of the front door of the
enclosure, under the fan vent at the top of the door.
Place the second Invensys/Foxboro label (P0930TE) on the front of the rear door of
the enclosure, under the fan vent at the top of the door. If the rear door’s front is not
accessible, place this label on the inside of the front door of the enclosure, under the
fan at the top of the door.

Migration for Legacy DCS Fieldbus Module Subsystem

To install the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem migration kit, proceed as follows:
1. Referring to Figure 2-11, remove the Primary Power Communication Card and the
Secondary Power Communication Card (if any) from the cardfile. (If blank panels
exist in place of the Secondary Power Communication Card, remove them.)
2. Remove all termination panel cables from the CL series cards in the cardfile, noting
for later reference where each cable attaches.
3. Remove all of the CL series cards from the cardfile (see Figure 2-11). If blank panels
are present, remove them.
4. Place the four switches on the Power Connection Card in the OPEN state (see
Figure 2-18).
5. Install an F2MFBC Fieldbus Isolator Carrier Board (Invensys Part Number
P0917AW) in the slot just to the right of the Power Connection Card (see
Figure 2-12).
6. Install the F2SFBI Fieldbus Isolator cards (Invensys Part Number P0914HB) into the
F2MFBC Fieldbus Isolator Carrier Board.
7. If the system uses secondary 24 V dc power, or if the local Fieldbus is to be extended
to another cardfile (see “Optional Local Fieldbus Extension - Legacy DCS Fieldbus
Module Subsystem Only” on page 32), install an F2MFBE Fieldbus Extender (Inven-
sys Part Number P0914LY) in the slot to the right of the F2MFBC Fieldbus Islolator
Carrier Board installed in Step 5 (see Figure 2-12).

! CAUTION

25
B0193YV – Rev K 2. Equipment Installation

8. On each F2M6xx DCS Fieldbus Module to be installed as part of the equipment

migration, install a module identifier (letterbug set):

A module identifier, composed of six letterbugs, is used to provide physical, user-

assigned labels on the DCS Fieldbus Modules (see Figure 2-13).
Assembly of the letterbugs to form a module identifier and the insertion of the mod-
ule identifier into the DCS Fieldbus Module are shown in Figure 2-13.To assemble
and install the module identifiers, proceed as follows:
a. Referring to “Module Identifier (Letterbug) Assignments” on page 66 and to the
I/A Series configuration reports, determine the module identifier (letter/number
combination) that pertains to the DCS Fieldbus Module in question.

NOTE
The sixth letterbug in the module identifier must be 0 (zero).

Exercise care, ensuring that the pins properly align with the
holes in the receptacle.
d. Repeat Steps a through c for all DCS Fieldbus Modules to be installed.

10. If your F2M68A DCS Fieldbus Modules have a P0914HF, Revision K or later board
(see Figure 2-15 on how to identify this), you need to set the bottom row of jumpers
for each of the sixteen channels to select the desired functions of the individual chan-
nels. Each channel can be configured for:
♦ An analog or HART termination assembly, 4-20 mA with a 250 ohm resistor on
the termination assembly
♦ An analog or HART termination assembly, 4-20 mA without a 250 ohm resistor
on the termination assembly

Optional Local Fieldbus Extension - Legacy DCS

Fieldbus Module Subsystem Only
In the legacy DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem, The local Fieldbus can be extended to service
DCS Fieldbus Modules in other cardfiles. Figure 2-19 shows a typical configuration. Maximum
allowable (overall) local Fieldbus length is 9 m (30 ft), and the maximum number of DCS Field-
bus Modules serviced by a single Fieldbus Isolator module or Fieldbus Isolator module pair is 14.
Equipment used in the local Fieldbus extension is included in Table 1-3. It consists of Fieldbus
extenders (F2MFBE, F2MFBA, and F2MFBB) and local Fieldbus extension cables (P0913VF,
P0913VG and P0913VH). Install the Fieldbus extenders as follows:

Fieldbus Cabling at the CP40

Fieldbus cable installation involves the use of termination cable assemblies (TCAs) and twinaxial
cable to provide connection between the I/A Series Control Processor 40 (CP40) and the F2SFBI
Fieldbus Isolator(s). Three remote Fieldbus cabling configurations are possible at the control
processor:
♦ Non-fault-tolerant CP40 and non-redundant Fieldbus (Figure 2-20)

33
B0193YV – Rev K 2. Equipment Installation

♦ Non-fault-tolerant CP40 and redundant Fieldbus (Figure 2-21)

♦ Fault-tolerant CP40 and redundant Fieldbus (Figure 2-22).
To make the remote Fieldbus cable connections at the I/A Series CP40, refer to Figure 2-20,
Figure 2-21, or Figure 2-22, as appropriate for your configuration, and proceed as follows:
1. Referring to Figure 2-23, assemble the termination block(s) associated with the con-
trol processor TCAs, snap them onto a DIN rail in the I/A Series rack, and connect
the earth wire(s).
2. Connect the TCA cable(s) to the CP(s) as shown in Figure 2-20, Figure 2-21, or
Figure 2-22.
3. Connect the Fieldbus cable(s) to the TCA(s) as shown in Figure 2-20, Figure 2-21, or
Figure 2-22.
4. If not already in place, add the termination resistor (supplied with each TCA) as
shown in Figure 2-20, Figure 2-21, or Figure 2-22.

Fieldbus Cabling at the CP60

Interfacing of the upgraded Series 20 system to the I/A Series CP60 (via the Fieldbus) is accom-
plished using DCM10E or DCM10Ef converters, as shown in Figure 2-24. For detailed informa-
tion on making the cable connections, refer to Control Processor 60 and Control Processor 60S

Notes:
1 A configuration using DCM10Ef converters (P09262DP) is similar, but with the Ethernet Trunk fiber optic
cables connecting to the ST-type connectors on the units.
2 Terminating resistors, included with the DCM10E/DCM10Ef converters and the corresponding TCAs, are
used only if these devices exist at the ends of the Fieldbus run.
3 If the TCAs are the last TCAs in the Fieldbus run, the Fieldbus shields must be connected to
the earth bus bar in the equipment rack (which, in turn, must be connected to solid earth ground).
Check to ensure that these connections are in place.

Figure 2-24. Fieldbus Cabling to the CP60 (Typical)

Fieldbus Cabling at the FCP280

Cabling an FCP280 baseplate to the Fieldbus Isolators (F2DFBIs over 2 Mbps HDLC fieldbus
for the current subsystem, or F2SFBIs over 268 Kbps HDLC fieldbus for the legacy subsystem)
consists of extending the remote 2 Mbps or 268 Kbps fieldbus from the isolators (see
Figure 2-25). This extension, used between enclosures, involves the use of termination cable
assemblies (TCAs) and twinaxial cable to provide cable connections between primary and
extended fieldbus segments, for a maximum fieldbus length of 305 m (1000 ft) for the current
subsystem, or 1 km (3200 ft) for the legacy subsystem. If the fieldbus is non-redundant, only one
TCA is connected to the FCP280 baseplate.
The Fieldbus splitter (part number RH928CV) consists of a connector for any Fieldbus port on
the FCP280 baseplate, and a TCA termination block similar to two of the P0903VY termination
assemblies connected together. It has a 3 m (9.8 ft) cable between the connector and the block.
The termination blocks on the splitter’s TCAs each include a strain relief bracket, nylon cable tie,
and labels for bus A and B. You must install the label to the termination block on each TCA.

37
B0193YV – Rev K 2. Equipment Installation

Refer to “Fieldbus Splitter (RH928CV)” in DIN Rail Mounted Subsystem User’s Guide (B0400FA)
and Field Control Processor 280 (FCP280) User’s Guide (B0700FW) for details.

NOTE
The Fieldbus splitter (RH928CV) is used instead of the two legacy TCAs
(P0903VY) and the Extended Fieldbus Splitter/Terminator (P0926LC), which are
used with legacy control processors for their twinaxial cabling.

Before starting this procedure, do the following:

♦ Identify whether each of the DCS FBMs are considered 100 Series FBMs or
200 Series FBMs by the FCP280 (that is, they have a Hardware Type which identifies
them as 100 Series or 200 Series FBMs). This is because, while the FCP280 can sup-
port four separate HDLC fieldbuses (the Expanded fieldbus), each fieldbus supports
either 100 Series or 200 Series modules exclusively - not both. Refer to “System Con-
figuration (or System Definition) Procedure” on page 66 and “Fisher Series 20
Migration Cards” in Control Processor 270 (CP270) and Field Control Processor 280
(CP280) Integrated Control Software Concepts (B0700AG) for the Hardware Types
(HWT) associated with each DCS FBM. DCS FBMs that do not have a “200” Series
hardware type (that is, they are not three digits starting with “2”, such as “214”) are
considered 100 Series FBMs by the FCP280.
♦ If you find that your system has a DCS FBMs with a mix of Hardware Types (that is,
some are considered 100 Series and others are considered 200 Series), you must rear-
range the DCS FBMs so that DCS FBMs with each Hardware Type are connected
exclusively to the FCP280 via their own non-redundant or redundant F2DFBI or
F2SFBI Fieldbus Isolator and a separate HDLC fieldbus (TCA and cables). Based on
your DCS FBM types, you may have to:
♦ Rearrange the DCS FBMs in your cardfile assemblies so that each cardfile has
only DCS FBMs of one Hardware Type. Do this if you have sufficient slots in
each cardfile to support all the DCS FBMs with only one particular Hardware
Type.
♦ If you have more DCS FBMs of a particular Hardware Type than you have slots in
your dedicated cardfile assemblies, you will have to add one or more additional
cardfile assemblies, power supplies, and F2DFBI or F2SFBI Fieldbus Isolators to
support the excess.
You must isolate the DCS FBMs for each Hardware Type to one non-redundant or
redundant F2DFBI or F2SFBI Fieldbus Isolator. You may have to add another non-
redundant or redundant F2DFBI or F2SFBI Fieldbus Isolator to support DCS FBMs
for the two Hardware Types (100 Series and 200 Series). Refer to the migration kits in
“Migration Kit Contents” on page 6 to order the required F2DFBI or F2SFBI Field-
bus Isolator(s), Termination Cable Assemblies (TCAs) (P0903VY), and other neces-
sary support hardware.
♦ Plan how your F2DFBI or F2SFBI Fieldbus Isolators will connect to the FCP280
baseplate based on the DCS FBMs in your Fisher PROVOX Series 20 subsystem.
This includes planning which Fieldbus port on the FCP280 baseplate you will con-
nect each TCA’s cable to using the Fieldbus splitter (RH928CV). Refer to “Fieldbus
Splitter (RH928CV)” in DIN Rail Mounted Subsystem User’s Guide (B0400FA) and

38
2. Equipment Installation B0193YV – Rev K

Field Control Processor 280 (FCP280) User’s Guide (B0700FW) for details. Order this
new splitter from Invensys (http://support.ips.invensys.com).
For details on FCP280 baseplate connections, refer to B0700FW.
You can mount the FCP280 module(s) on either the two-position, vertical DIN rail mounted
baseplate (RH924YF) or the two-position, horizontal DIN rail mounted baseplate (RH924YL).
For FCP280 baseplate mounting procedures, refer to DIN Rail Mounted Subsystem User's Guide
(B0400FA). For FCP280 installation procedures, refer to Field Control Processor 280 (FCP280)
User’s Guide (B0700FW).
Once you have finished with moving any of your DCS FBMs and their support equipment as
described above (if necessary), you can connect each FCP280 baseplate to the appropriate
F2DFBI or F2SFBI Fieldbus Isolator TCAs. For each baseplate, proceed as follows:
1. Referring to Figure 2-26 on page 42, assemble the termination blocks on the termina-
tion cable assembly end of the RH928CV splitter (RH928CV). Snap them onto the
mounting rails (DIN rails) in the enclosure, and connect the ground wires. (For future
reference, Figure 2-27 illustrates how to remove the TCA termination blocks.)

NOTE
If you intend to use an FBI200 to extend the twinaxial cabling to the F2DFBI or
F2SFBI Fieldbus Isolator TCA from the FCP280 baseplate, refer to DIN Rail
Mounted Subsystem User's Guide (B0400FA) for site planning and installation
instructions.

2. Connect the splitter (RH928CV) to the appropriate port on the FCP280 baseplate.
The splitter includes both a plug for the Fieldbus port and the TCA termination block
which you installed in the previous step (see Figure 2-25). Refer to “Fieldbus Splitter
(RH928CV)” in DIN Rail Mounted FBM Subsystem User’s Guide (B0400FA) for
instructions on how to make this connection.
If you are upgrading a legacy control processor with an FCP280 and the site has two
P0903VY TCAs on it, be sure to remove the P0903VY TCA termination blocks
before installing the splitter, as explained in Figure 2-27.
Finish making the cable connection(s) to the fieldbus splitter/terminator or fieldbus
splitter as shown in Figure 2-25.
3. Make the fieldbus cable connections between termination cable assemblies (see
Figure 2-28 on page 43).
4. Terminate the HDLC fieldbus according to the following rules:
♦ Terminating resistors are used only at the F2DFBI or F2SFBI Fieldbus Isolator
TCA end of the bus. Add the terminating resistors (supplied with the termination
cable assemblies) to the P0903VY termination cable assemblies as shown in
Figure 2-25.
♦ To terminate Fieldbus port 1 in the FCP280 baseplate end of the HDLC fieldbus
(if needed), set both the termination DIP switches on the FCP280 baseplate to
“ON”, as described in “Setting Termination Switches for FCP280 Baseplates” in
Field Control Processor 280 (FCP280) User’s Guide (B0700FW).
Fieldbus ports 2-4 in the FCP280 baseplate are terminated internally and do not
require any external hardware for termination. No action is needed to terminate
the FCP280 baseplate end of the HDLC fieldbus for Fieldbus ports 2-4.

39
B0193YV – Rev K 2. Equipment Installation

♦ The Fieldbus can be extended in two directions from the FCP280. (Refer to
Figure 2-29 on page 44.)
5. Connect an insulated 14 AWG green wire between connection point 3 (shield) on the
last Fieldbus Isolator termination cable assembly (or assemblies) and the earth bus in
the enclosure. For I/A Series system earthing requirements, refer to Power, Earthing
(Grounding), EMC and CE Compliance (B0700AU).

Fieldbus Cabling at the FCP270

Cabling an FCP270 baseplate to the Fieldbus Isolators (F2DFBIs over 2 Mbps HDLC fieldbus
for the current subsystem, or F2SFBIs over 268 Kbps HDLC fieldbus for the legacy subsystem)
consists of extending the remote 2 Mbps or 268 Kbps fieldbus from the isolators (see
Figure 2-30).
TCA is connected to the fieldbus splitter/terminator (P0926LC) which is shown in Figure 2-31.
PIO Bus Terminal Assembly part number P0903VY includes a strain relief bracket, nylon cable
tie, labels for bus A and B, and 110 ohm terminating resistor. You must install the label to the
TCA.
You can mount the FCP270 module(s) on either the two-position, vertical DIN rail mounted
baseplate (P0926HW) or the two-position, horizontal DIN rail mounted baseplate (P0926HC).
For FCP270 baseplate mounting procedures, refer to DIN Rail Mounted Subsystem User's Guide
(B0400FA). For FCP270 installation procedures, refer to Field Control Processor 270 (FCP270)
User’s Guide (B0700AR).
To connect an FCP270 baseplate to the Fieldbus Isolator TCAs:
1. Referring to Figure 2-32, assemble the termination blocks associated with the termi-
nation cable assemblies (P0903VY) for the FCP270 baseplate, snap them onto the
mounting rails (DIN rails) in the enclosure, and connect the ground wires. (For future
reference, Figure 2-33 illustrates how to remove the TCA termination blocks.)

NOTE
If you intend to use an FBI200 to extend the twinaxial cabling to the F2DFBI or
F2SFBI Fieldbus Isolator TCA from the FCP270 baseplate, refer to DIN Rail
Mounted Subsystem User's Guide (B0400FA) for site planning and installation
instructions.

2. Connect the fieldbus splitter/terminator (P0926LC) to the “Fieldbus and Time

Strobe” connector on the FCP270 baseplate (see Figure 2-30).
3. Make the cable connection(s) to the fieldbus splitter/terminator as shown in
Figure 2-31.
4. Make the fieldbus cable connections between termination cable assemblies (see
Figure 2-34).
5. Add the terminating resistors (supplied with the termination cable assemblies) accord-
ing to the following rules:
♦ Terminating resistors are used only at the ends of the bus.
♦ The Fieldbus can be extended in two directions from the FCP270. (Refer to
Figure 2-35.)

NOTE
Refer to Appendix F “ZCP270 Upgrade” for information regarding control proces-
sor upgrades from CP30, CP40, or CP60 to ZCP270.

Connections between a redundant ZCP270 to the Fieldbus Isolators (F2DFBIs) requires the fol-
lowing to facilitate communications:
♦ ZCP270 connects to a redundant pair of DIN rail mounted Fieldbus Communica-
tions Module 100Es (FCM100Es) via fiber optic cabling, either directly with standard
LC to LC cables or indirectly via The Mesh control network
♦ The FCM100Es connect to the Fieldbus Isolators (F2DFBIs)
Cabling a FCM100E baseplate to the Fieldbus Isolators (F2DFBIs) consists of extending the
remote 2 Mbps fieldbus from the isolators (see Figure 2-38). This extension, used between enclo-

sures, involves the use of termination cable assemblies (TCAs) to provide cable connections
between primary and extended fieldbus segments, for a maximum fieldbus length of 305 m
(1000 ft). TCA part number P0903VY includes a strain relief bracket, labels for bus A and B, and
a 110 ohm terminating resistor (E0157CZ) which should be installed across the F+ and F- termi-
nals at the end of the Fieldbus. You must install one of the labels on the TCA (see Figure 2-38 for
label orientation)
You can mount the FCM100E module(s) on either the two-position, vertical DIN rail mounted
baseplate (P0926KE) or the two-position, horizontal DIN rail mounted baseplate (P0926KH).
For FCM100E installation procedures, refer to Z-Module Control Processor 270 (ZCP270) User’s
Guide (B0700AN) and for baseplate installation procedures, refer to DIN Rail Mounted Subsystem
User's Guide (B0400FA).

ZCP270 Direct Connection to FCM100E

! WARNING
Prior to connecting the direct connect cables to the FCM100E, install the letterbug
into the ZCP270. Refer to the I/A Series Letterbug Configurator (B0700AY).

Nonredundant or redundant FCM100Es can be connected directly to a ZCP270 through two

splitter/combiners (one each for Bus A and Bus B).
Figure 2-36 shows a redundant FCM100E connection to a redundant ZCP270. Figure 2-37
shows how the connections are made. Use the cables listed in Table 2-6 to make the connections.

NOTE
The Z-Module Control Processor (ZCP) can support DCS FBMs from either the
current or legacy subsystems, as it can communicate via 2 Mbps and 268 Kbps
signals simultaneously. However, the FCM100E can only communicate via 2 Mbps
or 268 Kbps signals, not both in the same cardfile. (The FCM100Et can only com-
municate via 2 Mbps signals.) When configuring a ZCP to support both 2 Mbps
and 268 Kbps signals, be aware that you must add a dedicated pair of FCM100Es
for each type of communication.

After you have installed and cabled the FCM100E module, you need to assign their letterbugs
through the infrared port using the I/A Series Letterbug Configurator. For information on using
this device and procedures for assigning letterbugs, see the Letterbug Configurator User’s Guide
(B0700AY).

ZCP270 Connection to FCM100E via The MESH Control

Network
Refer to the “Installing a Single or Primary ZCP270 Module”, “Cabling a Single (Non-Fault-Tol-
erant) ZCP270” and/or “Cabling a Fault-Tolerant ZCP270 Module Pair” sections in Z-Module
Control Processor 270 (ZCP270) User’s Guide (B0700AN) for instructions on connecting the
ZCP270 to The Mesh control network.
Fiber optic connecting cables require a MTRJ connector on the Ethernet 100 Mbps switch and
an LC connector on the FCM100E end. The maximum optical insertion loss though each con-
nector must be equal to or less than 0.5 db. For the Ethernet equipment used in The Mesh con-
trol network, refer to The MESH Control Network Architecture Guide (B0700AZ).
After you have installed and cabled the FCM100E module, you need to assign their letterbugs
through the infrared port using the I/A Series Letterbug Configurator. For information on using
this device and procedures for assigning letterbugs, see the Letterbug Configurator User’s Guide
(B0700AY).

Fieldbus Cabling at the DCS Fieldbus Module

Subsystem
Fieldbus cabling at the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem involves making Fieldbus connections to
the TCAs (P0903VY) associated with the F2DFBI (for the current subsystem) or F2SFBI Field-
bus Isolators (for the legacy subsystem), and connecting the TCA cables to the Fieldbus Isolators.

NOTE
1. Connections at the DCS Fieldbus Module Subsystem are the same regardless of
the type of I/A Series control processor is used (CP40 or higher).
2. The following procedure assumes that a redundant Fieldbus is being
employed. If the installation in question uses a non-redundant Fieldbus, omit
the Fieldbus B connections.

1. Using the hardware provided, install the DIN rail (P0931VU for current subsystems
in kit P0973KB, P0903PN for legacy subsystems in kit P0915XW) in the equipment

60
2. Equipment Installation B0193YV – Rev K

rack in question. The DIN rail can be placed anywhere in the rack, its placement
limited only by the length of the P0903VY TCA cable, which is 72 in (1829 mm).
For the current subsystem, install the nutclips (X0169LF) in the rack rails, in the loca-
tion in which you want to secure the DIN rail. Then install the screws (X0127DH)
with lock washers (X0143SC) and plain washers (X0143AT) to secure the DIN rail to
the rack rails. Tighten the screws as needed.
2. Referring to Figure 2-23, assemble the termination block(s) associated with the Field-
bus Isolator TCAs, snap them onto the DIN rail and connect the earth wire(s).
3. Connect the Fieldbus cables (A and B) to the Fieldbus Isolator TCAs, as shown in
Figure 2-44. (If the Fieldbus is non-redundant, only one Fieldbus cable (A) connects
to a Fieldbus Isolator TCA.) Take note of which TCA receives the Fieldbus A connec-
tion, and which receives Fieldbus B. (This information is required in Step 5.)
4. If the TCAs in question are the last TCAs on the Fieldbus run:
a. Add the 110 ohm terminating resistors (E0157EZ) packaged with the TCAs.
b. Connect an insulated 14 AWG wire between connection point 3 (shield) on each
of the last Fieldbus TCAs and the earth bus bar in the equipment rack. (It is
assumed that the rack earth bus bar is connected to a solid earth ground.)
5. Make the cable connections from the TCAs to the Fieldbus Isolators, as shown in
Figure 2-45.

EEPROM Update and Download Operations

Once the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem equipment has been installed and power is applied to
the equipment rack(s), the following operations must be performed at the I/A Series workstation
to bring the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem up to operating status.
♦ EEPROM update – For the DCS Fieldbus Modules in this migration kit (for the cur-
rent subsystem - F2M214, F2M215 and F2M239, or for the legacy subsystem -
F2M67A and F2M68A), EEPROM updating is necessary only if specifically required
by an I/A Series software update, or as otherwise directed by your service
representative.
♦ Download (of the DCS Fieldbus Module image and database) – This action restarts
the DCS Fieldbus Module software. (Prior to the download, you must have config-
ured the DCS Fieldbus Modules, otherwise the System Management Display Handler
would not recognize them.)
The EEPROM update and download operations are performed on each DCS Fieldbus Module
using the System Manager (for InFusion systems) or the System Management equipment change
displays (for I/A Series systems).
Refer to “EEPROM Update” in the “Fieldbus Modules” chapter of System Manager (B0750AP)
for details on how to perform EEPROM update and download operations for the DCS Fieldbus
Modules using the Foxboro Control Software (FCS) Configuration Tools (formerly known as
InFusion Engineering Environment (IEE)).

2. Equipment Installation B0193YV – Rev K

To perform these operations via the System Management equipment change displays, proceed as
follows, referring to System Management Displays (B0193JC) for detailed information on System
Management displays:

3. Configuration
This chapter provides system configuration information (system definition) and control
configuring information (integrated control configuration).
In general, “configuration” means specifying, to the I/A Series system software, the types of hard-
ware and software modules that comprise the newly added DCS Fieldbus Module Subsystem, and
the control blocks that are used in conjunction with it. Prior to performing configuration proce-
dures, you must develop loop drawings to determine the control scheme, and a detailed equip-
ment plan that identifies all the equipment required to control the process.

System Configuration/Definition
NOTE
1. To minimize interruption of the process, it may be desirable to perform system
configuration (or system definition) prior to installing the DCS Fieldbus Module
subsystem equipment, as described in Chapter 2 “Equipment Installation”.
2. If the host I/A Series system is on-line (currently controlling the process), it may
be desirable to perform the integrated control configuration on-line, prior to updat-
ing the system configuration. Using this method, process control, using the DCS
Fieldbus Module subsystem equipment, can commence immediately following
equipment installation, and putting the DCS Fieldbus Modules on-line. System
configuration updating can be deferred until a more convenient time.
To perform integrated control configuration on-line, refer to “On-Line Integrated
Control Configuration” on page 71.

System configuration (or system definition) is the process of selecting and identifying the hard-
ware and software for a particular I/A Series system. It is initially performed prior to installation of
the system equipment, and typically it is updated later with any hardware/software system
changes. Reports produced by system configuration (or system definition) define the network,
define the overall packaging of the system, and provide information that may be used in conjunc-
tion with equipment installation and system quotation. The system configuration database can be
updated at any time to reflect changes made to the initial hardware layout.

I/A Series Software v4.x vs. v6 System Software

Execution of system configuration (or system definition) is, in part, a function of the software
release for your I/A Series system. With I/A Series software v4.x, system configuration is per-
formed using the I/A Series System Configurator. With I/A Series software v4.3 and higher, sys-
tem definition (a form of system configuration) is performed using the System Definition utility.
System configuration software is accessed from an I/A Series workstation or server.
Note that for systems with FBM37, ECB53 (analog output), you must have I/A Series software
v4.3 (or later) or System Definition 6.2 (or later) software to run the appropriate system configu-
rators for the FBM37, ECB53.

65
B0193YV – Rev K 3. Configuration

For systems with the F2M214, F2M215 or F2M239 DCS FBMs, you must have I/A Series soft-
ware v8.6 or later to run the appropriate system configurators for the these FBMs.

Module Identifier (Letterbug) Assignments

Before including the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem in an I/A Series system, module identifiers
must be assigned to the DCS Fieldbus Modules. The module identifier for the Series 20 DCS
Fieldbus Module consists of six characters. The rules for which characters are valid for a letterbug
depends on the DCS FBMs you are using:
♦ For the F2M67A and F2M68A, the first five characters can be any combination of
alphanumeric characters, and the last character is restricted to 0 (zero).
♦ For the F2M214, F2M215 and F2M239, all of the letterbug characters may be any
valid letterbug character. The last two characters of the letterbug must be unique for
the particular control processor to which the modules are attached.
Note that the F2M214 requires two module identifiers (letterbugs).
You enter these characters (letterbugs) during system configuration and, as part of the equipment
installation process (see Chapter 2 “Equipment Installation”). Physical letterbugs are attached to
the DCS Fieldbus Modules.

NOTE
I/A Series software treats each DCS Fieldbus Module as an equivalent FBM (see
Table 3-1, below). As such, the System Management Display software, and Inte-
grated Control Configurator software portray the DCS Fieldbus Modules as equiva-
lent FBMs. In order to distinguish the DCS Fieldbus Modules from other FBMs, it
may be desirable to include a specific prefix (such as F2 for Fisher Series 20) in the
six-character letterbug set for each DCS Fieldbus Module.

System Configuration (or System Definition) Procedure

Configure the DCS Fieldbus Modules as you would equivalent I/A Series Fieldbus Modules
(FBMs) (see Table 3-1). If your I/A Series system software is:
With I/A Series software v4.0 to v4.2, refer to System Configurator (B0193JH).
With I/A Series software v4.3 or later, refer to System Definition: A Step-by-Step Proce-
dure (B0193WQ) and associated on-line Help.

As indicated in Table 3-1, the physical F2M67A is configured as a Fieldbus Processor 10 (FBP10)
and an I/A Series FBM09. The physical F2M68A is configured as an FBP10 and three virtual
I/A Series FBMs: two FBM01s and one FBM37.
When system configuration (or system definition) is completed (as described in the following
subsections), perform one of the following operations:
♦ If this is a new (as opposed to existing) I/A Series system, install the system software
(refer to the release notes shipped with your version of I/A Series software).
♦ If this is an existing (previously configured) I/A Series system, specify to the currently
installed system software that hardware items have been added to the system (refer to
the release notes shipped with your version of I/A Series software).

Integrated Control Configuration

The Foxboro Control Software (FCS) Configuration Tools (formerly known as IEE), IACC, and
I/A Series Integrated Control Configurator (ICC) allow you to integrate Fisher I/O points into
existing I/A Series control schemes, as well as to create entirely new I/A Series based applications.
The software interface between the control logic and the process is provided by equipment con-
trol blocks (ECBs) specific to the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem, and control blocks used
throughout the I/A Series system.

NOTE
When configuring the DCS Fieldbus Modules, set the MPOLL parameter to 0 (zero)
in the I/A Series Control Processor ECB (<cplbug>_ECB:primary_ECB>). (See
Figure 3-1.)

Actual control of the process is performed by compounds, consisting of control blocks, which are
user configurable. (Figure 3-2 shows a typical application of control blocks.) The I/A Series sys-
tem offers a wide range of control blocks, providing solutions for a broad spectrum of process
control applications. For details on the selection and usage of control blocks, refer to Integrated
Control Block Descriptions (B0193AX).
For information regarding configuration of blocks in the Foxboro Control Software (FCS) envi-
ronment, refer to Foxboro Control Software Block Configurator User's Guide (B0750AH).

NOTE
This section presents integrated control configuration information that is specific to
the DCS Fieldbus Modules subsystem. For more comprehensive information
regarding integrated control configuration, refer to Foxboro Control Software Block
Configurator User's Guide (B0750AH) for FCS, I/A Series Configuration Component
(IACC) User's Guide (B0700FE) for IACC, or to Integrated Control Configurator
(B0193AV) and associated Help files for ICC.

The Foxboro Control Software (FCS) Configuration Tools (formerly known as IEE), IACC and
the Integrated Control Configurator (ICC), which is accessed through the process engineer’s or
software engineer’s environment at an I/A Series workstation, allow you to configure control
blocks relating, in this case, to the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem equipment. The general pro-
cedure is to create a compound name in the ECB list under which the blocks will be created and
run, and then create the desired control blocks and integrate them into their compound.
Using the FCS Configuration Tools, or ICC, you create an equipment control block (ECB) for
each DCS Fieldbus Module card in the DCS Fieldbus Module Subsystem. The ECB serves as a
“holding place” for the device’s software data. You then configure the necessary control blocks and
compounds for the desired control scheme.
The FCS Configuration Tools and ICC lets you modify configuration data for on-line stations
(for example, a CP) or off-line library volumes. (A library volume is a “dummy” configuration
which may be loaded into the CP when creation and/or editing are completed.) As a com-

69
B0193YV – Rev K 3. Configuration

pound/block editor, the System Manager, IACC, and ICCr provides compound/block-building
templates along with a full range of editing functions.
Integrated control configuration for the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem is divided into two sep-
arate procedures:
♦ Off-Line Integrated Control Configuration (directly following) is intended for use
when a new system is being configured – typically, when the DCS Fieldbus
Modules subsystem is being included in new (overall) system configuration.
♦ On-Line Integrated Control Configuration is intended for use when a previous
I/A Series configuration is being updated to include the DCS Fieldbus Module
subsystem.

NOTE
As indicated previously, if the host I/A Series system is on-line (currently controlling
the process), it may be desirable to perform Integrated Control Configuration on-
line, prior to updating the system configuration. If this is the case, perform the pro-
cedure under “On-Line Integrated Control Configuration” on page 71.

Off-Line Integrated Control Configuration

To perform off-line integrated control configuration, refer to Foxboro Control Software Block Con-
figurator User's Guide (B0750AH) or Integrated Control Configurator (B0193AV) for details.
For the System Manager, refer to the section “Go On-line and Go Off-line” in System Manager
(B0750AP) to take the configuration off-line. Refer to the section “Editing ECB Compounds and
ECBs” in Foxboro Control Software Block Configurator User's Guide (B0750AH) to view and edit
the F2Mxxx ECB(s) if the default parameters provided are not satisfactory. Then use the
EEPROM Update command in the section “Equipment Change Actions” in System Manager
(B0750AP) to push the updates to the field.
For ICC, proceed as follows:

NOTE
1. This procedure assumes that system configuration has been performed.
2. This procedure is intended for use with I/A Series software v4.0 or higher. If your
system has software of a previous version, refer to the appropriate version of Foxboro
Control Software Deployment Guide (B0750BA), I/A Series Configuration Component
(IACC) User's Guide (B0700FE), or Integrated Control Configurator (B0193AV), and
configure the DCS Fieldbus Modules as you would equivalent FBMs, as listed in
Table 3-1.
3. When configuring the DCS Fieldbus Modules, set the MPOLL parameter to
0 (zero) in the I/A Series Control Processor ECB (<cplbug>_ECB:primary_ECB>).

1. Using the System Management Equipment Change display (accessible at an

I/A Series workstation), boot up the CP to which the DCS Fieldbus Module subsys-
tem equipment will be attached. This creates two compounds:
♦ Station compound (CPLBUG_STA) containing the station block
(CPLBUG_STA:STATION). The CP letterbug (cplbug) is filled in by the
station being configured.

3. Configuration B0193YV – Rev K

♦ ECB compound (CPLBUG_ECB) containing the primary ECB

(CPLBUG_ECB:PRIMARY_ECB). The CP letterbug (cplbug) is filled in by the
station being configured.
2. Access the Integrated Control Configurator. (From the Process Engineer’s or software
Engineer’s environment, select Config and then Control_Cfg.)
3. Select the I/A Series control processor that will serve as its host, and then configure
the necessary number of ECBs for the F2M214, F2M215, F2M239, F2M67A and
F2M68A DCS Fieldbus Modules. Refer to “F2M214, F2M215, F2M239, F2M67A
and F2M68A Control Configuration” on page 73 for detailed information.
4. Edit the F2Mxxx ECB(s) if the default parameters provided are not satisfactory. As an
example, Figure 3-6 shows a typical editing display for the FBP10_C6821 ECB. The
HWTYPE and SWTYPE ECB parameters for the various types of DCS Fieldbus
Modules are found by selecting SHOW from the menu bar at the top of the screen, and
then selecting Legal FBM/ECB Combos. ECB parameter information appears in a
“show window” along the right side of the ECB editing displays. For information on
other ECB parameters, refer to Integrated Control Block Descriptions (B0193AX) and
associated Help files.
5. Referring to Control Processor 270 (CP270) and Field Control Processor 280 (CP280)
Integrated Control Software Concepts (B0700AG), Integrated Control Software Concepts
(B0193AW) (for CP60 and earlier CPs), and Integrated Control Block Descriptions
(B0193AX), configure the necessary compounds and blocks for the desired control
scheme:
♦ Typical control schemes using the various types of DCS Fieldbus Modules are
shown in Appendix C “DCS Fieldbus Module Control Schemes”. Also shown in
that appendix are typical block parameter settings that are used with the various
types of DCS Fieldbus Modules.
♦ For information on setting fail-safe parameters, refer to “Fail-Safe Operation” on
page 79.

Control Configuration
NOTE
This information is referenced as part of the following control configuration proce-
dures: “Off-Line Integrated Control Configuration” on page 70 and “On-Line Inte-
grated Control Configuration” on page 71. Return to these procedures after
completing the tasks presented here.

As shown in Appendix C “DCS Fieldbus Module Control Schemes”, configuration of control

schemes for the F2M67A and F2M68A DCS Fieldbus Modules requires mapping to multiple
ECBs. One ECB (ECB47) is for operator action and maintenance of the physical F2M67A or
F2M68A DCS Fieldbus Module, and one or more ECBs are required for mapping of the individ-
ual I/O channels.
To create and edit an ECB using the FCS Block Configurator, refer to the section
“Configuring Blocks” in Foxboro Control Software Block Configurator User's Guide (B0750AH).
To create and edit an ECB using the IACC, refer to the sections “Control and System Configura-
tion” and “Editing CSDs and CSD Templates” in I/A Series Configuration Component (IACC)
User's Guide (B0700FE).
To create and edit an ECB using the ICC, refer to the section “View Blocks/ECBs in this Com-
pound” and “Insert New Block” in I/A Series Integrated Control Configurator (B0193AV).
For the ECB parameter definitions, refer to Integrated Control Block Descriptions (B0193AX).

F2M214 and F2M215 Control Configuration

As shown in Figure C-1 on page 115 and Figure C-2 on page 116, a typical control scheme to
support a F2M214 or F2M215 requires the creation of one parent ECB200 for each group of
eight channels, and one child ECB201 for each channel.

NOTE
From the perspective of control configuration, one F2M214 is the equivalent of two
FBM214 modules, so it must be configured as if it was two FBMs.

NOTE
You can use the block name for the PARENT parameter whenever the child ECB and
the parent ECB reside in the same compound. For example, you might enter
ECB200BK15 for the PARENT parameter because the child ECB201 and the parent
ECB200 reside in the PRIMARY_ECB compound (F41CP6_ECB).

If the child ECB and the parent ECB are not in the same compound, you must enter
the full compound:block pathname for the PARENT parameter.

Configure F2M214 or F2M215 as, respectively, two FBM214s and one FBM215. Refer to HART
Communication Interface Modules User's Guide (B0400FF) for details on configuring FBM214
and FBM215.

F2M239 Control Configuration

As shown in Figure C-3 on page 117, a typical F2M239 control scheme requires creation of a
ECB05.
Note also that the EXTYPE parameter must be set at 0.

F2M67A Control Configuration

As shown in Figure C-4, a typical F2M67A control scheme requires creation of two ECBs: an
ECB47 (for the physical F2M67A), and one ECB05 (for the sixteen contact input/output chan-
nels). These ECBs represent a Fieldbus Processor 10 (FBP10) and an FBM09, respectively.

FBP10 ECB for F2M67A

The physical F2M67A is configured as a Fieldbus Processor 10 (FBP10), as shown in Figure 3-3.
This device is represented by an ECB47. (As configured in the System Management (SMDH)
displays, this ECB appears as a stand-alone FBP10, with no I/O cards.) The DEV_ID configured
in Figure 3-3 (F26720) is the letterbug used on the F2M67A module. (It is recommended that
the ECB bear the same name as the F2M67A letterbug.) The first five characters in the letterbug
are user-determined, and the last character must be 0.

See NOTE

NOTE: If I/A Series software version is 6.1.1 or greater, use SWTYPE = 59;
If I/A Series software version is earlier than 6.1.1, use SWTYPE = 42.

FBM09 ECB for F2M67A

The FBM09 configured for the F2M67A DCS Fieldbus Module is a virtual FBM, which means it
exists in software only. It is represented by an ECB05. The physical F2M67A (in the form of the
FBP10 ECB) responds to I/A Series control processor requests for data from this configured vir-
tual FBM.
Figure 3-4 shows a typical configuration of the FBM09 ECB (ECB05). As shown in this figure,
the key to operation of the FBM09 ECB is in its letterbug and DEV_ID assignments:
♦ The FBM09 ECB’s DEV_ID parameters must have the same first five characters as
the FBP10 letterbug (or DEV_ID).
♦ The last character of the FBM09 ECB’s DEV_ID parameter must be 1.
Note also that the EXTYPE parameter must be set at 14.

Figure 3-4. Typical Editing Display for F2M67A FBM09 (with FBM14 Expander)

F2M68A Control Configuration

As shown in Figure C-5 on page 119, a typical F2M68A control scheme requires creation of three
ECBs: an ECB47 (for the physical F2M68A), two ECB01s (for the 16 analog input channels),
and one ECB53 (for the 8 analog output channels). These ECBs represent a Fieldbus Processor
10 (FBP10), two FBM01s, and an FBM37, respectively.

FBP10 ECB for F2M68A

The physical F2M68A is configured as a Fieldbus Processor 10 (FBP10), as shown in Figure 3-5.
This device is represented by an ECB47. (As configured in the System Management (SMDH)
displays, this ECB appears as a stand-alone FBP10, with no I/O cards.) The DEV_ID configured
in Figure 3-5 (C68210) is the letterbug used on the F2M68A module. (It is recommended that
the ECB bear the same name as the F2M68A letterbug.) The first five characters in the letterbug
are user-determined, and the last character must be 0 (zero).

NOTE: If I/A Series software version is 6.1.1 or greater, use SWTYPE = 58;
If I/A Series software version is earlier than 6.1.1, use SWTYPE = 42.
Figure 3-5. Typical Editing Display for F2M68A FBP10 (ECB47)

FBM01 ECBs for F2M68A

The two FBM01s configured for the F2M68A DCS Fieldbus Module are virtual FBMs, which
means they exist in software only. These handle the 16 analog inputs and are represented by two
ECB01s. The physical F2M68A (in the form of the FBP10 ECB) responds to I/A Series control
processor requests for data from these two configured virtual FBMs.
Figure 3-6 and Figure 3-7 show typical configuration for the first and second FBM01 ECBs
(ECB1s). As shown in these figures, the key to operation of the FBM01 ECBs is in their letterbug
and DEV_ID assignments:

Fail-Safe Operation
Fail-safe parameters in the controlling ECBs specify the outputs of the I/O cards in the event of a
break in communication with the CP. All fail-safe operations are initiated by the DCS Fieldbus
Modules.
Each time the DCS Fieldbus Module receives a write request for a specific I/O card, it resets a fail-
safe timer for that I/O card’s ECB. The DCS Fieldbus Module asserts a fail-safe condition for the
I/O card’s ECB if it does not receive another output command within a specified time. The fail-
safe condition can be either of the following:
♦ Hold Current Value – Hold the value sent in the most recent output command from
the CP.
♦ Use Fallback Value – Use a value specified for the output (specified in the ECB).
The ECBs for output type I/O cards include parameters for enabling and disabling fail-safe and
for setting a fail-safe delay for the I/O card output. These parameters are downloaded to the DCS
Fieldbus Module’s database from the CP each time the subsystem is initialized or re-configured,
and each time the user executes a download command from the System Management display. If
fail-safe is enabled for a specific I/O card, the DCS Fieldbus Module asserts fail-safe actions on a
channel-by-channel basis but uses the same timer interval for all channels in the I/O card.

79
B0193YV – Rev K 3. Configuration

When normal operation resumes, the current output values are read by the CP and stored in the
ECBs. These values in turn are used by the I/O blocks as the starting point for new output com-
mands.

Fail-Safe Actions for F2M214 and F2M215

Fail-safe actions are performed in accordance with specific parameters set in ECB200, and in the
ROUT DCI block. In ECB200, the following parameters control fail-safe actions:
♦ FSENAB – Fail-Safe Enable, when true, activates the FSDLAY timer to detect a com-
munication failure from the control station, and start fail-safe action in the FBM. The
FSENAB setting is downloaded to the HART FBMs when the FBM is rebooted. It is
used by the HART FBMs to enable/disable the logic to assert fail-safe action when a
loss of control station communication is detected, or when a control station fail-safe
request is received.
♦ FSDLAY – Fail-Safe Delay is a communications fail timer. When enabled by
FSENAB, it specifies the length of time (in units of 0.01 seconds) that the FBM can
be without communication from the control station before taking fail-safe action. If
the Fail-Safe On Commfail bit is set in the FSOPTN parameter of the output control
block (ROUT), the FBM sets the Initialize Fail-safe bit in the status of the OUT
parameter of the associated AO function block. When this value is next received by
the connected device, the device asserts fail-safe and drives its output to the fail-safe
value. For example, the default value of 1000 in FSDLAY causes the FBM to wait 10
seconds between read/write messages before going to the Fail-safe state (provided
FSENAB is configured true).
In the ROUT DCI block, the following parameters control fail-safe actions:
♦ FSOPTN – Fail-safe Option is a configurable option that specifies the fail-safe condi-
tions and action to be taken in the FBM for an output point in a ROUT block:
♦ Assert fail-safe if input/measurement error.
♦ Set/clear fail-safe when SETFS input is set/cleared.
♦ Assert fail-safe if control station-to-FBM communication failure was detected by
the FBM.
Combinations of these conditions for fail-safe can be specified.
♦ SETFS – Set Fail-safe Request is a settable Boolean parameter that requests fail-safe
action to be set/reset by the FBM and/or field device for the specific output value of
the ROUT block.
♦ FSOUT – Fail-safe Real Output (ROUT block) specifies the real fail-safe value that is
to be used by the external device when any condition specified in FSOPTN exists.
In the BOUT and BOUTR blocks, the following parameters control fail-safe actions:
♦ FSOPTN – Fail-safe Option is a configurable option that specifies the fail-safe condi-
tions and action to be taken in the FBM for an output point in a BOUT or BOUTR
block:
♦ Assert fail-safe if input/measurement error.
♦ Set/clear fail-safe when SETFS input is set/cleared.

80
3. Configuration B0193YV – Rev K

♦ Assert fail-safe if control station-to-FBM communication failure was detected by

the FBM.
Combinations of these conditions for fail-safe can be specified.
♦ SETFS – Set Fail-safe Request is a settable Boolean parameter that requests fail-safe
action to be set/reset by the FBM and/or field device for the specific output value of
the BOUT or BOUTR block.
♦ FSCOUT - Fail-safe contact output specifies the contact state that is to be asserted by
the DIOSDM for that channel when any condition specified in FSOPTN exists.
A Failsafe Enable (FSENAB) option may be configured by the user in an ECB200 This option is
downloaded to the HART FBM when it is rebooted or when configuration of the ECB200 is
changed. FSENAB is used by the HART FBM to enable/disable logic to assert fail-safe action on
the HART channels automatically when a loss of control station communications is detected. It is
also used by the HART FBMs to override all explicit fail-safe request actions from the control sta-
tion for each DCI output connection.
If the FSENAB option is set, the Fail-safe Delay (FSDLAY) value configured in the ECB200 is
used to set the fail-safe timer in the HART FBM. The fail-safe timer counts down and is reset to
the FSDLAY value whenever a DCI message is received. If the fail-safe timer expires, the HART
FBM stops communication on the channels, and sets the Fail-safe Active (FSA) status in the asso-
ciated DCI output connection records.
When communication with the control station is restored, the fail-safe timer is automatically reset
to full value by the first DCI message received, and the HART FBM clears the FSA status in the
associated DCI output connection records.
Fail-safe options (FSOPTN) can also be configured in each DCI output block. These options are
downloaded into the HART FBM when the DCI output connection is established. If any of the
fail-safe options are set, the HART FBM writes the associated fail-safe value into the DCI connec-
tion record.
Fail-safe action can also be triggered by either of two events in a DCI output block:
♦ The Fail-safe Request parameter (SETFS) is toggled or, if the error option (EROPT) is
configured
♦ The status of the primary input in the block goes bad (or becomes good).
When either of these events occurs, a Write_Data message is sent to HART FBMs with the Fail-
safe Request bit set (or cleared) in the message. If FSENAB is set, and if the Fail-safe Upon CP
Request option is set in the DCI output connection, the HART FBM sets (or clears) the FSA
status in the DCI connection record. If the Fail-safe Request is set, the HART FBM writes the
fail-safe value stored in the DCI connection record to the HART field device.
Refer to the DCI block descriptions in Integrated Control Block Descriptions (B0193AX) for addi-
tional details.

Fail-Safe Functionality
What the DCS Fieldbus Module does during various failed conditions is dependent upon the
configuration of several I/O card parameters as well as the type of failure. Two basic types of DCS
Fieldbus Module failures can occur:
♦ Those that cause the DCS Fieldbus Modules to fail (such as DCS OFF-LINE, DCS
DOWNLOAD, or DCS EEPROM UPDATE)
♦ Those that cause loss of communications (COMM FAIL).

Fail-Safe for Type 1 Failures - DCS Fieldbus Module FAIL

Two variables (parameters), fail-safe mask (FSMM1) and fail-safe data (FSD0n), determine what
action the DCS Fieldbus Module takes when a Type 1 failure occurs. FSMM1, configured for a
particular I/O card ECB, determines what state is asserted at the output of the I/O card: Fallback
Value or Hold Current Value. The default setting of the fail-safe mask parameter is zero to assert
the fallback values. The mask can be set so that some outputs hold while others fall back. FSD0n,
also configured for a particular I/O card ECB, determines the fallback value. The default value for
analog outputs is zero, and the default value for digital values is false.

Fail-Safe for Type 2 Failures - COMM FAIL

In addition to the fail-safe mask and fail-safe data parameters, there are two other parameters,
FSENAB and FSDLAY, that affect the DCS Fieldbus Module’s response to communications fail-
ures. FSENAB determines whether the I/O card output simply holds (FSENAB = 0) its output
value during the communication failure until the communication failure ceases, or if it delays fail-
safe action (FSENAB = 1) for the time specified by FSDLAY and then responds in the same way
as Type 1 failures.

Fail-Safe Examples
The following examples are fail-safe operations for an analog type I/O ECB with two outputs.
The operation is performed for the first output point, which is point number 1. An AOUT block
is used, and the output is driven at a value of 75% of full scale. The Fallback Value is configured
to be 25% of full scale (FSD01 = 16000). FSDLAY is set to 1000, which is equal to a delay time
of 10 seconds.
Example 1: FSENAB = 0 and FSMM1 = 0X00
a. Cause: Type 1 failure.
Result: Output immediately goes to 25%.
b. Cause: Type 2 failure.
Result: Output holds at 75%.

4. System Management
This chapter provides general system management information for the DCS Fieldbus modules.
It also provides references to the manuals that describe the tools you use to perform in-depth
system management tasks.

Overview
The general I/A Series system management philosophy applies to the DCS FBMs incorporated
into the I/A Series system. Through the System Management Displays, you can receive status
information on the FBMs, as well as send change requests to the FBMs.
System management for the FBMs is supported on the following system management tools:
♦ System Manager v2.1 or later (supported on I/A Series software v8.6 or later) - dis-
cussed in System Manager (B0750AP).
♦ SMDH - discussed in System Management Displays (B0193JC)
♦ FoxView™ - discussed in FoxView Software V10.3 (B0700FC) and Process Operations
and Displays (B0700BN)
The security of this system is maintained via the standard I/A Series control processor software
and the customer-engineered user interface to the control block database. All access to the I/O
data is through the control blocks. The end user has no direct access to any of the I/O functions
or the data in the FBMs.

Operating Status
The operating status of the DCS FBMs is reported by the I/A Series system using on-screen and
printed messages. Refer to the following documents for information on the reporting of equip-
ment operating status and errors:
♦ System Manager (B0750AP)
♦ I/A Series System Management Displays (B0193JC)
♦ I/A Series System V8.x System Error Messages (B0700AF)
♦ I/A Series Process Operations and Displays (B0700BN).

Process Operator Displays

The I/A Series system provides the following types of displays for performance of process control
operations:
♦ Select Screen Display (compound and block overview display)
♦ Group Displays
♦ User-Generated Displays
♦ Block Detail Displays
♦ Compound Detail Displays

85
B0193YV – Rev K 4. System Management

♦ Station Displays.
For information on how these displays are used, refer to Process Operations and Displays
(B0700BN) or Process Operations and Displays (B0193MM).

System Management Displays

The System Manager v2.1 or later software obtains current and historical information about the
system, displays it, and allows you to intervene in system operations and perform diagnostics.
The DCS Fieldbus Modules are portrayed in the System Manager displays as equivalent Fieldbus
Modules (FBMs), as listed in Table 3-1. DCS Fieldbus Modules may be distinguished from other
FBMs by means of their user-assigned module identifiers (letterbugs), which can contain a prefix
designating the device as a Fisher DCS Fieldbus Module (for example, F2).
Figure 4-1 through Figure 4-3 show examples of System Manager displays (for FBP10s) accessed
via the System Manager.
For detailed information on the use of the System Manager displays, refer to System Manager
(B0750AP).

5. Maintenance
This chapter provides information on maintaining the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem.
The original maintenance and preventive maintenance philosophies for the Fisher PROVOX
equipment racks are retained. This includes periodic inspection and cleaning, checking the status
of LED indicators, and checking for loose cable connections.

Operating Status
The operating status of the DCS Fieldbus Modules is reported by the I/A Series software using
on-screen messages. [The I/A Series software regards the DCS Fieldbus Modules as standard
Fieldbus Modules (FBMs).] Refer to the following I/A Series documents for information on the
reporting of equipment operating status and errors:
♦ System Manager (B0750AP)
♦ DIN Rail Mounted Subsystem User's Guide (B0400FA)
♦ V8.x System Error Messages (B0700AF)
♦ System Maintenance (B0193AD)
♦ System Management Displays (B0193JC).

LED Indicators
LED indicators at the front of the Fieldbus Isolator (F2DFBI/F2SFBI) and the DCS Fieldbus
Modules indicate the operational status of these devices (see Figure 5-1).
The functions of the F2DFBI LEDs are as follows (see Figure 5-1):
♦ Status LED (Green) – Indicates operational status, see Table 5-1.
♦ Status LED (Red) - Indicates operational status, see Table 5-1.
♦ CP FB LED (Amber) - When illuminated (yellow) indicates the existence of commu-
nication activity on the remote Fieldbus, that is, external to the Fisher PROVOX
equipment rack (usually requests from the CP).
♦ 2 Mbps LED (Amber) - When illuminated (yellow) indicates the existence of commu-
nication activity on the local 2 Mbps Fieldbus, that is, internal to the Fisher
PROVOX equipment rack (responses from the current DCS Fieldbus Modules).
♦ 268 Kbps LED (Amber) – When illuminated (yellow) indicates the existence of com-
munication activity on the local 268 Kbps Fieldbus, that is, internal to the Fisher
PROVOX equipment rack (responses from the legacy DCS Fieldbus Modules).
The functions of the F2SFBIs LEDs are as follows:
♦ Upper amber LED – When illuminated (yellow) indicates the existence of communi-
cation activity on the remote Fieldbus, that is, external to the Fisher PROVOX
equipment rack (usually requests from the CP).

Off1 Off1 Power to card failed or switched off.
On Flashing Failure detected during start-up diagnostics:
RAM test – Green LED flashing once every five seconds indicates a
failure in the low byte RAM chip. Green LED flashing twice every five
seconds indicates a failure in the high byte RAM chip.
HDLC, DMA, Timer, and Interrupt Controller tests – Green LED
flashing three times every five seconds indicates a failure (an ASIC problem).

F2MAOA Analog Output Adapter Cable Terminations

The F2MAOA is an Analog Output Adapter Cable used with F2M215. It is connected between
the 25 pin D cable and the analog output termination panel. The F2MAOA cable consists of two
25 pin D type connectors, one female, the other male and a small cable interconnecting the two
of them. One end of the adapter cable connects to the analog output termination panel. The
other end connects to the 25 pin D cable from the F2M215 analog output module. The connec-
tor in the F2MAOA connects all the negative sides of analog output channels together and to a
wire. This wire connects to the PSC (Power Supply Common, also known as 24VRET) on the
termination panel. This ensures the return currents for each channel go back through the 25-pin
D cable instead of the PSC connection on the termination panel. Without this adapter, negative
returns for the analog outputs would connect together and connect to the PSC. The PSC connec-
tion back at the power supply would be the only way to get the return currents back to their
respective channels, violating the isolation barrier. This would also cause cross-talk between the
HART signals between channels.

Appendix D. Power Supply
Replacement
The following procedures describe how to replace the 24 V dc rack-mounted power supplies for
the DCS Fieldbus Module subsystem with the Lambda® LZSa-1000-3 24 V dc power supplies
(P0904HT).
These new power supplies are not included in the Migration Kits, but are ordered separately from
Invensys Systems, Inc.

Power Supply (P0904HT) Replacement

! CAUTION
The following procedure assumes that power has been removed from the existing
power supply. Before switching off power to the existing power supply, ensure that
such action will not adversely affect the process.

! CAUTION
For the P0904HT power supplies, use the vendor-supplied mounting hardware. All
mounting hardware used with these power supplies must be plated. No copper wash-
ers are allowed.

The original power supplies are shown in Figure D-1. Their replacements are shown in
Figure D-2. Proceed as follows:
1. Remove the power-in and power-out cables from the power supplies, noting (for
future reference) which cables are connected to which input/output terminals.
2. Referring to Figure D-1 and Figure D-2, remove the screws holding the power sup-
plies in place, and set the screws aside.
3. Remove the power supplies from the rack, and replace them with the new power sup-
plies (P0904HT).
4. Secure the new power supplies to the rack with the vendor-supplied M4 mounting
screws and plated M4 lock washers.
5. Make the power-in and power-out cable connections as indicated in Figure D-3 on
page 124. A label on top of the new power supply describes all possible cable connec-
tions, as well as jumper and switch settings. If external indication of the power supply
status is to be employed, refer to “Power Supply Status Cable Installation” on
page 125 for information on installing the power supply status cable.

121
B0193YV – Rev K Appendix D. Power Supply Replacement

! CAUTION
When attaching the power cables to the newly installed power supply, use the ven-
dor-supplied hardware provided with the power supply, including the main insu-
lated cable clamp and screw (1), the 0.25 x 20 x 0.75 output terminal bolts and nuts
(2 each), and the plated output terminal lock washers (2). Use of the old screws may
cause impaired current conductivity.

Power Supply Status Cable Installation

A status cable (Invensys Part Number P0918HU) can be used in conjunction with appropriate
indicator circuitry to provide indication of the power supply’s operating status. When the power
supply output is good (above its minimum specified value), the power supply produces a switch
closure condition at the status cable output points, which are labeled Status (+) and Status
(-). If the power supply should fail (or lose input power), the power supply produces an open
switch condition. The status output is from an opto transistor (inside the power supply) capable
of switching 1 mA dc, with an ON voltage less than 0.4 v at 1 mA. Open circuit voltage at the
Status (+) and Status (-) output points must not exceed 30 v.
Be sure that the connections to the status cable outputs are wired according to the polarity as
marked on the associated termination assembly as shown in Figure D-4 below.
1. Mount the termination assembly (part of cable assembly P0918HU) on a DIN rail in
the equipment cabinet.
2. Attach the power supply status cable to the 15 Pin “D” connector as shown in
Figure D-3 above.
