ABSTRACT

The risk of road accidents is increasing dramatically as the

number of vehicles on the road grows rapidly. Drunk driving is a primary
cause of road accidents everywhere around the world. The main aim of
this project is to develop a system that would detect the amount of
alcohol that is consumed by the driver of the vehicle. The proposed
system aims at preventing the driver from driving when drunk and
thereby intends to reduce the number of accidents occurring due to
drunk driving. The proposed model is developed using Raspberry Pi and
alcohol detection sensor (MQ-3) as its major components. As a safety
measure, when the level of alcohol crosses a permission limit, the red
LED and buzzer will be turned on and the concerned authority will be
alerted using the GSM module. The Internet of Things (IOT) was added
since technology in the world continuous to advance and succeed.

Keywords: Raspberry Pi, MQ-3, LED, GSM, Buzzer.
