TAKING BODY MEASUREMENT

Three ways in Taking Body Measurement

 HORIZONTAL – is a measurement taken from the left figure of the body to the right.
 VERTICAL – is a measurement taken from the top figure of the body to its base.
 CIRCUMFERENTIAL- is a measurement taken around the body.

RULES IN TAKING BODY MEASUREMENTS.


 Wear a well fitted garment and smooth out fitting garments.
 Keep the tape measure snug and not too tight especially when taking circumferential measurement.
 Provide for ease of allowance for fullness.
 Use correct tape measure.
 Request the person whose body measurements are being taken to stand straight.

PROPER WAY IN THE TAKING BODY MEASUREMENT FOR LADIES BLOUSE

1. Shoulder width - the measurement is from the left shoulder tip point passing through the nape to the right
shoulder tip point.

2. Bust distance – is taken from one bust point to the other.


3. Front bodice length- taken from the base of the neck, passing over the fullest part of the bust ranging down to
the natural waistline.

4. Back bodice length- the measurement is taken from the base of the neck ,passing over the blades ranging down
to the natural waistline.

5. Bust height- is taken from the base of the neck to the tip of the bust.

6. Blouse length- is taken from the base of the neck passing through the bust down to the desired length of the
blouse.

7. Sleeve length- the measurement is taken from the shoulder tip point down to the desired length of the sleeve.

8. Bust circumference- is taken from the front and back part over the fullness of the bust.

9. Waistline- taken around the waistline.


10. Chest circumference – is taken just above the bust.

11. Armhole- is taken from a shoulder tip around the armpit back to the shoulder tip.

12. Arm girth- is taken around the fullest part of the arm.
