DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 8 (STORY READING FRAMEWORK (SRF)

Rubaiyat
Omar Khayyam

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
a. Interpret the stanza from the poem by paraphrasing it.
b. Express love for poetry thru differentiated activities.

II. Subject Matter


A. Skills: Interpret and express the poem by paraphrasing it and thru differentiated activities.
B. Reference: Rubaiyat (PDF) by Omar Khayyam
C. Selection: Rubaiyat by Omar Khayyam
D. Materials: Handouts, Visual Aid, pictures, Venn diagram and Whiteboard

III. Procedure

Beside me singing in the Wilderness--
Oh, Wilderness were Paradise enow!

Ah, make the most of what we yet may
spend,
Before we too into the Dust descend;
Dust into Dust, and under Dust to lie,
Sans Wine, sans Song, sans Singer, and--sans
End!

Waste not your Hour, nor in the vain pursuit
Of This and That endeavor and dispute;
Better be jocund with the fruitful Grape
Than sadden after none, or bitter, Fruit.

on the second line? of Bread means the food that we eat daily.)

dust and we will come back on that way.)
