ACTIVITY WORKSHEET
ACTIVITY. The following are 6 categories of impacts of climate change that can be observed
in the current times. Cite at least 3 concrete examples on each of the categories. Limit your
examples on the local setting that you observe within your barangay, town or province. Briefly
explain your answers in each item
Ecological impact
1. Extinction
Small scale extinctions are already commencing and continuously getting worse day
by day, like the rare birds and monkeys in our forest.
2. Shifts in species ranges
Our barangay are rich in mountains, however climate change pushing many living
species there to migrate from other place as a response to changing condition.
3. Shifts in phenology
Temperature highly affects the phonological shifts of organisms thus, the changes in
temperature due to climate change disrupts the natural phonological patterns, affecting
their population dynamics and species interaction.
Biological impact
1. Ocean Acidification
Ocean is a house to many organisms. The increase of CO2 emitted in the atmosphere
and large amount of this compound is as well dissolved into the ocean. Once CO2 is
dissolved in water it forms carbonic acid that potentially lowers the pH of the body of
water. The changes in the pH of the ocean highly affect the functioning of living
organisms that thrive in there.
2. Weaken the living organisms
Because of the change in weather, the living organisms can’t adapt it easily.
3. Destroying Habitual Pattern
The living organisms have their own habitual pattern based on the season. Changing
the habitual pattern, is like taking their way of life.
Geographical impact
1. Rise of Sea levels
Global temperature is continuously increasing as a result glaciers and ice caps from
polar regions are melting at a rapid rate increasing the sea level. In addition, warm
temperature makes the volume of water to expand.
2. Landslide
Because of the typhoon and flood, landslide occurred specially on the place where
deforestation and mining happened.
3. Destroying the geographical sites
The beautiful falls in our barangay received some changes. It was not beautiful as
before. The water in the river shrink and many rocks left on the sides of the river.
Sociological impact
1. Low water supply
This is not usually happened in our barangay, but because of the climate change, there
was a decreased in water supply.
2. High price of goods
Whenever typhoons occurred, the goods sell on a high price, like the rice, fish and
vegetables. But because of climate change, disaster frequently occurred, thus
increasing the price more.
3. High demands

The supply of goods is low while the demand is high. The competition of getting the
goods is even high.
Meteorological impact
1. Poverty
The increased frequency and intensity of typhoons, heat waves, droughts and floods
impend food supply in our barangay. Relocate people, destroys agriculture and
livelihood that leave in poverty and starvation.
2. Shrinking productivity of Harvest
The significant change in climate patterns, especially the surge of heat waves and
extreme environmental phenomena put agricultural crops into pressure that highly
affects the harvest and agricultural productivity in our barangay.
3. Spread of diseases
Most of the people in our barangay have a flu and fever and continuous to transmit the
disease in one another. It is connected with the changing of weather, a sudden rain
and cold, and a sudden heat in the atmosphere.
Geopolitical impact
1. Implement the Law
Because of the implementation of Republic Act No. 9512. Thus, barangay officials
prohibited the people from cutting trees and throwing garbage in a place such as sea,
river and ravine and any abused act towards the environment. Whoever found
breaking the law, they will compensate and worst imprison.
2. Rise of the Environmental Programs
To ensure that people take a good care of the environment, protect the sustainability
and promote development without compromising the planet. The barangay conduct a
various programs mainly concerned about environment.
3. Conducting events for promoting Environmental Awareness
Every year, a contest held in our barangay. The purok that is much more cleaner and
have a beautiful living environment would win and received a huge price.
