V. ACTIVITY FLOW
INTRODUCTION
In this module, we will be understanding the source of misery and unhappiness...that
comes through a familiar term, “stress”.Stress is no longer stranger to us. Everyone gets it one way or
another, in different forms.Adolescence in particular has been dubbed as a “period of storms and
rains”. Without minding its literal meaning, one can easily grasp that adolescence is a stressful
period of growth. Though it sounds like a heavy weight, it is the same culprit that shapes us towards
maturity and independence. As we confront stress in our life, we will realize that stress is inevitable.
Stress comes in many forms and magnitudes. Moving up to a new grade level is a form of stress.
Particularly in the adjustments that comes with new subjects and courses. Having many demands
from school, responsibilities at home, disappointments and fears and even our daily routines can lead
us to stressful situations; such us struggling with time, being in hurry or things not falling into our
expectations. When things get so overwhelming, we always bear the expression” Life is so full of
stress!” But what is stress that it has become common in life, an expression that carries weight and
an experience that we need to overcome? Reactions to stress are individually different and can vary
for many reasons. Finding ways to cope and adjust to the stressful situations is critical for middle and
late adolescence. As we confront stress in this module, let us try to confront the factors that causes
stress in our life, in everyday interaction and more importantly, let us find healthy ways in coping and
overcoming stress.
