Environmental pollution poses a serious threat to both humanity and nature. It involves adding impurities to the air, water, land, plants and animals that make up our environment. If pollution continues, it could make the earth too hot to sustain life or flood coastal areas. Pollution impairs human health by introducing harmful gases and chemicals through smoke, industrial emissions, and contaminated food and water. Everyone must work to reduce pollution by adopting sustainable practices, supporting government regulations, and taking personal responsibility to protect the environment.

Environmental pollution is the biggest menace to the human race on this
planet today. It means adding impurity to environment. The environment consists
of earth, water, air, plants and animals. If we pollute them, then the existence of man and nature will be hampered. It is true that trees are being cut down rapidly. Our earth is becoming warmer. If pollution continues, the day is not far when our earth will be a boiling pan and become a desert. Or it will be covered with sea water causing destruction of mankind. Pure air is always needed for inhaling. If we take pure air, our health improves. On the other hand impure air causes diseases and impairs our health and causes our death. Smoke pollutes the air. It is the root of air pollution. The smoke which is discharged from industries, automobiles and kitchens is the mixture of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane etc. These are all poisonous gases. These cause lung-cancer, tuberculosis etc. which take a heavy toll of life. Reckless application of chemical fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides pollutes the soil. Vegetables and fruits are quite injurious today, because they contain the poison of these chemicals. There has been a great concern on earth’s ailing condition especially when effects of man’s inadvertent progression in the world of science and technology created a network of environmental problems. Thus the word ‘pollution’ comes to mind. I think it is very important for people to realize that different types of pollution such as water, air and soil are not inconsequential of one other. In fact, each of the parts of an environment – air, water and land – depends upon the others and the flora and fauna within the environment. The relationships among all living and non-living things in an environment make up an ecological system, known as the ecosystem. All the ecosystems of the earth are interdependent. Thus, pollution that seems to affect only one part of the environment may also affect other parts. If the air we breathe, the water we drink and the land which produces our crops, vegetables and fruits, all become more and more impure, then our chances of good health and longevity will be very less and less. Environment pollution is a serious menace to our existence. Realizing the danger, we must plant trees in large number to absorb impure air. Impure water from industries can be sent back for purification and then it can be used for irrigation purpose. Our government is well aware of the fact and is taking steps to save environment from pollution. We have also to minister to look after the environment. Concern for the preservation of the environment is now a reality integrated into the feelings of our society. This is being reflected in a public demand for environmental quality which will mean a steady increase in the environmental standards to be imposed on infrastructure, transport and industry projects, among other things. To comply with these standards, projects will have to draw up environmental impact studies prior to construction and, probably, prior to approval. In the case of activities whose impacts mainly involve environmentally polluting emissions— either to air, water or land— it is expected that increasing restrictions will be imposed, for which reasons possible paths are foreseen. Solution efforts on pollution are always a big problem. This is why prevention interventions are always a better way of controlling air pollution. These prevention methods can either come from government laws or by individual actions. Like many other challenges, the best way to solve problems is to understand it. This means learning about it (like what we are doing now) is the greatest step forward. Dealing with pollution is something that everyone needs to get involved with. We are all inhabitants on the Earth, everyone is a stakeholder, and every person has something to contribute to advance effective pollution prevention awareness. Environmental protection is a natural extension of caring for ourselves, loving our fellowmen, and ensuring a sustainable future for our generations to come. “If we heal the earth, we heal ourselves”. We should all, therefore, accept personal responsibility by actively participating in making our atmosphere pollution-free. We can do more by working hand-in-hand to stop pollution. Averting the onset of pollution in any area be it in air or water or on land, could be the simplest preventive solution. “If there are no pollutants, there will be no pollution”. And yet, this is easier said than done. Bad habits are entrenched and industrial development seems to involve an expectation of pollution. Even the simplest preventive approaches are often quite difficult for us to complement. Still, there are changes we can make individually that make a difference, both in the short and long term to STOP POLLUTION!!!
