Bloom’s Taxonomy Level(s):

How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:
X Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

X Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast,
posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an
outside source.)
Lesson idea implementation:

I will start this lesson by teaching my students about Ruby Bridges. Showing them the podcast I cre-
ated using Anchor. Then the students will be given a variety of books (digitally and physically) that
contain information about the required historical individuals. The students will create their own pod-
cast using Anchor, individually or with a partner. They will have the choice of which individual they
want to create their podcast about. They will be required use the book as research for their historical
individual. Then they will create a script for what exactly they each partner will say in the podcast.
This will help develop their social skills as they work with their partner to create their script. The
teacher will read the students scripts and offer suggestions where needed. Once the script is com-
plete, the teacher will approve it by giving it a stamp. Then the students will record their podcast us-
ing Anchor. The following day, each student or pair will present their podcast to the class. The stu-
dents will be learning from their peers at this point. Feedback will be given to each student as the
teacher grades each presentation. The teacher will conclude the lesson by going over the major con-
tributions of each historical person.

Managing student learning:

Anchor will allow the students to take on a more active role in their learning. Students will be re-
quired to create a script before using Anchor to record their podcast. This will keep the students on
task and organized.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection:

Anchor is an awesome tool that supports all students. The activity I planned for this lesson enhances
the learning experience for students as they take a more active role in their learning. Requiring stu-
dents to use a tool like Anchor gives students the opportunity to demonstrate their learning in a new
way. This applies to the representation principle of UDL.

Reflection:

After designing this lesson, I feel this will positively impact student learning. I look forward to hearing
the podcasts my students create.
