I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson the pupils will be able to:

a. Tell that adjectives are describing words;


b. Choose appropriate adjectives to describe objects and;
c. Use adjectives to complete sentences.

References: Let’s Begin Reading in English pages 450-452
Materials: visual aids, pictures, infinity box, and audio-visual projector

Everybody stand properly. Bow your head,

3. Classroom Management

Class, before you take your seats, kindly


pick up the pieces of papers under your
tables and arrange your chairs properly.

Noun is a name of person, place, things, or
idea.

B. Learning Activities

1. Motivation
Class, before we start our new lesson, I am
going to tell you a short story entitled, The
Ant and The Grasshopper. Everybody please
listen carefully because after this I am going
to ask some questions about the story.

Are you ready class?


Yes Ma’am.
(The teacher will tell the story using the
infinity box.)

Who are the characters in the story?


(Pupils will raise their hands)
Yes student 1?
Ant and Grasshopper Ma’am.

Correct! What can you say about the ant?

Yes student 2? (Pupils will raise their hands)

Very good! Let us give three claps to The ant is industrious.

How about the grasshopper class what can (Pupils will do the clap)
you say about him?

Correct! The grasshopper is lazy because The grasshopper is lazy.


instead of gathering food for winter he only
plays with his guitar.

What is the moral lesson of the story?


Class: Don’t be lazy.
Nice answer, the moral lesson in the story is
work today, and you can reap the benefits
tomorrow.

C. Presentation

1. Introduction

Class, our lesson for today is all about


Adjectives. Everybody say adjectives.
Class: Adjectives
Row one will you please read the definition
of adjectives.
(Row one will read the definition of
adjectives)
Okay class that is the reason why I ask you a
while ago to tell your seatmates that he or
she is beautiful or handsome, because when
we say adjectives it describes a noun. Like
what we did also to the characters of the
story the Ant and Grasshopper we described
them.

I have here another examples.

Row two will you please read example


number one. (Row two will read example number one)

The adjective in the example is big, because


it describes the house.
How about example number two, row three (Row three will read the example)
will you please read.

Thank you, class what is the adjective in Pupils will raise their hands.

Why did you say that the adjective in the Ma’am because it describes the elephant.

2. Application
a. Guided Practice

Class, let’s have an activity! I have here a


mystery box. What you are going to do is
get one object inside the mystery box. Tell
me what it is, if you can describe the object
correctly it will be yours. (Pupils will raise their hands)

Let’s start! Who wants to go first? Any (Pupil will get the object)
volunteer?
This is a doll.
Yes ___________________.

What is our first object? The doll is beautiful.

What can you say about the doll? How will


you describe it?

Very good! This is yours now!


(The teacher will call another pupil.)

b. Group Practice

Now let us have a group activity. I will


group you into 3. Each group will be given a
picture and in two minutes you will list
down all the adjectives that describe the
picture as many as you can. The group with
highest score will get additional points in
our quiz later. Yes Ma’am.
(The teacher will give example in the (Pupils will do the activity)
board.)

Are you ready class?

Your time starts now! (Group 1 will present their output)

Last 10 seconds!
(Pupils will do the clap)
Time is up! Let us check your work.
(Each group will present their outputs.)

Group 1 got 10 correct adjectives. Let us


give them a fireworks clap.

(The other group will present their output)

Let us proceed, it seems that you really


understand now our lesson. (Pupils will answer)

Correct! Now close your notes we will have


a short quiz.
IV. Evaluation

Direction: Encircle the adjectives that best describes the picture.

1. The lady is (ugly, pretty).

2. The stone is (hard, soft).

3. The umbrella is (blue, pink).


4. The ball is (blue, green).

5. The boy is (thin, chubby).

V. Assignment
Write five sentences about yourself using 5
adjectives. Write it in your assignment
notebook.
