1. INTRODUCTION
Chemical Anchor will be used to fastened pre-fabricated steel stair. Proof load test / Pull-out Test
will be conducted to verify if the installed anchor would conform to actual site conditions.

The purpose of the testing is to investigate the installed anchors behavior when loading is applied.
Anchor resistance is based on anchor’s technical data.

8.0 SEQUENCE OF WORK
A. Delivery of Materials (Fischer Threaded Rod + FIS EM Plus 390)

8.1 Delivery of Materials
8.1.2 Prior to installation works, ensure all materials were approved and inspected by the consultants.
8.2 Installation of Chemical Anchor to be tested
8.2.1 Prior to drilling works, ask MCC QC and JACMI inspector for layout inspection. Use SRF No.
MCC-CP-02-ST-152 for Stair Layout.
8.2.2 Start drilling works based on approved Layout. Holes shall be drilled in accordance with Fischer
Threaded Rod technical data below:
8.2.3 To ensure desired depth to be drilled, provide tape or marking on drill bit. When nut is tightened,
3 threads must be the minimum visible thread.
8.2.4 The drilled hole shall be cleaned using brush and compressed air gun or blow out pump
8.2.5 Mark the Fischer Threaded Rod M-16x125 with its required length of insertion.
8.2.6 Injection of mortar, fill approximately 2/3 of the drilled hole. Always begin from the bottom of
the hole and avoid bubbles.
8.2.7 Insert the threaded rod slowly into the drilled hole with a certain rotation (clockwise and
counter clockwise). Removed and clean the excess mortar.
8.2.8 Prior to installation of Hydra Jaw Tester, let it cure based on curing time below depending on site
condition:
8.3 Set-up of Hydra Jaw and Load Application
8.3.1 After the anchor has been set in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations, a suitable
threaded rod (a) is screwed into the anchor and the adaptor (b) then fitted. The length of the
threaded rod to be screwed into the anchor must be at least equal to the diameter of the
anchor

8.3.2 The tester is supplied with a locking adaptor fitted into the tester body. This locking adaptor
can be removed for fitting of different adaptors by using the 3mm Ball Driver. When
replacing back in ensure it is fully engaged into the tester body before tightening.
8.3.3 Make final adjustments so that the anchor rod tester adaptor, tester and fixing are aligned.
8.3.4 Position the tester so that the gauge can be easily read.
8.2.5 Adjust the length of the legs so that all three are in contact with the base material and the load
spreading bridge is aligned and level by referring to the bubble levels on each face. Fine
adjustment is available by unscrewing the feet by no more than approximately 15mm.
8.3.5 Set the red pointer on the gauge to zero - hold the tester by the grip handle and proceed to load
the fastener by turning the operating handle clockwise. (Refer to ANNEX 6 for Required
Load Capity)

CAUTION!
Hold the fastener securely by the grip handle as long as the fastener is under load. When the load
increases, note the reading on the displacement scale on the tester. Indication of failure of the
fastener may be obtained by comparing the current reading with the original reading.
8.3.6 Increase the load until the required test load is attained. Hold this load for 2 minutes and observe
any falling back of the readings which would indicate movement and possible failure of the
fastener. Record the satisfactory result.
8.3.7 Release the load on the fastener by turning the operating handle counter-clockwise and allowing
the test jaw to return to the original position.
8.3.8 Remove the tester and bolt tester adaptor.
PASSING AND FAILURE CRITERIA
Chemical Anchors should be free of defects before using it for testing as well as the substrate from
cracks. There are various modes of failure which the anchor can experienced when subjected to
tension and shear loads. It includes: pull-out and pull-through failure; concrete cone failure; edge
failure; splitting failure; anchor material failure. If the anchor does not experienced any of the above
mentioned modes of failure, it is safe to conclude that the anchor passed the test criteria.
