Host: The art of good journalism / is more important than ever / in distributing clear and
factual stories. / It has never been more vital/ to appreciate/ the challenges of today's
loud landscape/ and how we, / as readers and viewers, / can be critical/ while not
promoting falsehoods. / As the general public searches the internet/ for facts and
information, / journalists should serve/ as the connecting threads/ that keep us all
informed/ on what the REAL problem/ in society is. /

I am Mary France L. Malto, your lady of ceremony.

To be honest, / I am very excited/ about this webinar series / aside from our brilliant
guest speakers, / we are also able / to unite diverse individuals. / Joining with us today/
are teachers, / young professionals, / student leaders, / student writers from different
universities/ and we also have/ two international students from Indonesia, / Meldi and
Muthi./ Hello to both of you!

With this, / I would like to extend / my warm welcome/ to all our participants, /
professors/ and especially to our Campus Administrator, / Prof. Zeus M. Lositano, /

our webinar series, / This is / "Pagsalingoy:/ Revisiting Alumni Writers' Roles/ as
Campus Journalists/ Amid Pandemic." /

of the Philippine National Anthem, / the ASEAN Hymn/ and the CBSUA Hymn/ through
an Audio-Visual presentation. /

In journalism, the way you communicate a printed message can be as important as
what you say. You may have created the most unique or compelling message as
possible, but if the way it is displayed does not stop readers or if it makes your copy
difficult to read, your piece would be as good as a trash. So today, we are again up for
the hunt for talented individuals who have the potential to communicate powerful
message to the readers through the combination of colors, graphics and text format. So
buckled up / for we are about to have / another exciting / and knowledgeable day.
