Subject: The Office of Student Conduct has cleared me of all allegations
To: Robert Telles <tellesr2@unlv.nevada.edu>
Hello Everyone,
I did not send this over the infoserve because I wanted to speak to you, not the
faculty and staff.
Please let me be very clear as to why I am providing the file I submitted. I am not
posting it in an effort to change your opinion of anyone else. There have been far
too many unwarranted character attacks already. I am presenting this evidence
to you to show that there are two sides to every story, and that I am not the tyrant
or jerk that it seems has been asserted in rumors and allegations. Since the
vote, I remained silent because I believed that relying on the conduct process
would clear my name, but now I realize that the process alone won't do
that. That is why it is important that I share this information with you.
People may be misinformed about my motivations for running for president of the
SBA. I have always tried to do my part to benefit the community. I believed that
one of the ways to do that was by taking up leadership roles at Boyd. I never
sought leadership for the sake of power. I saw the presidency as a form of
community service. I engaged in community service before this situation, and I
continue to engage in community service now. I am motivated by a desire to
help the community.
Still, I know I have made mistakes. This situation was a pressure cooker, and it
was hard to see how to best handle the matter. I believe people were upset and
possibly hurt by this situation. I would like to stress to you that although I made
mistakes, I have always been motivated by only the best of intentions.
When it has come to addressing the allegations, I have acted only with the
intention of vindicating myself. If any of you judged me for my acts, know that I
am sorry for my mistakes. If any of you have judged me for my motivations, I am
sorry that my motivations were misrepresented. To those of you directly involved
who feel I wronged you, I am sorry. I would also like to extend an apology to
anyone who was offended by any of what has transpired.
I feel it is important to make it clear that I am writing to you today, not because I
want to continue the drama, but because I hope to finally put it to rest. Many of
us will be working in the same small community in the near future, and I don't
want you to have an ill opinion of me or anyone else based on what happened
here. I hope that we can all put this behind us together.
Sincerely,
Rob Telles
