ABSTRACT

This project describes ultrasonic, Moisture blind walking stick with the use
of Arduino .According towards 30 million peoples are permanently blind
and 285 billion peoples with vision impairment if you notice then you can
carry will now about it they can’t walk without help of others one has to ask
guidance to reach their destination they have to face more struggles in their
life using this blind stick a person can walk more confidently this stick .The
person can walk without any fear, This device will be best solution to
overcome their difficulties visually impaired person have difficulty to
interact and feel their environment. They have little contact with
surroundings. Physical movement is a challenge for visually impaired
persons ,because it can become tricky to distinguish obstacles appearing in
front of them ,and they are not able to move from one place to another .They
depend on them families for mobility and financial support their mobility
opposes from interacting with people and social activities in the past
,different systems are designed with limitations without a solid
understanding of the non-visual perception .Researchers have spent the
decades to develop an intelligent and smart stick to assist and alert visually
impaired person from obstacles and give information about their location
.Impaired persons to detect obstacles and warn them at danger place.
Ultrasonic sensor detect obstacles infront of it using ultrasonic wave
Reflection ,Moisture sensor detects water in the ground .
The Smart Blind Person – Navigation stick were designed and fabricated
using Design Thinking framework.

CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

Blindness is a very common disability among the people throughout the globe.

About 90% of the World’s population are visually impaired living in developing

countries. They need help to walk and do their essential work of daily life. smart

Blind Stick is a fully automated, easy to maintain, cheap and comfortable to use

device. It is an innovative device designed for Visually disabled people for refined

navigation and advanced obstacle detection. In this device, we Propose advanced

blind stick that allows visually Challenged people to navigate with relieve using

advanced technology. The blind stick is integrated with ultrasonic sensors, LED strip

light ,buzzer ,vibrator moisture sensor along with Arduino UNO. The Ultrasonic

sensors are used to detect obstacles ahead Using ultrasonic waves. On sensing

obstacles the Sensor buzzer . On sensing water the vibrator vibrates LED light is to

indicate the light which is very much uesful for blind people.
CHAPTER 2

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Blind people can’t easily recognize obstacles or stairs while using normal blind
stick. The blind traveler should depend on any other guide like blind can ,
people information , trained dogs, etc. About the 90% of the worlds visually
impaired live in developing countries. No safety features on the normal blind
stick.Nowadays people are busy with their and don't much care on others and
let it happen is their thought because of this blind person couldnt go out and
do any work or show the talent that they have they always need to depend on
others , their problem is their stick which is normal and they don't have any
features to move out from their zone if there is any features it will better to
them and they need not to depend upon others and do their work bythemselves
and it will be much more helpful if there is any automation The buzzer beepsonce
for left side obstacle, twice for front obstacles and thrice for right obstacles. The
vibrator is also connected in parallel with the buzzer for vibration sensation. The light
sensor is gives a feedback about the environment. That is it informs the user if it's
day or night or if a particular place is dark or bright. The moisture sensor is used to
detect water pits or any puddles if present. All these signals are then sent to the
microcontroller which in turn sends signal to the buzzer
CHAPTER 3

METHODOLOGY

We here propose an advanced blind stick that allows visually challenged people to

Navigate with ease using advanced technology. The blind stick is integrated with

Ultrasonic sensor along with light and water sensing. Our proposed project first uses

Ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles ahead using ultrasonic waves. On sensing

obstacles The sensor passes this data to the arduino Uno. The arduino uno then

processes this data And calculates if the obstacle is close enough. If the obstacle is

not that close the circuit Does nothing. If the obstacle is close the arduino Uno sends

a warning through buzzer. It also detects and sounds through buzzer The stick also

includes the vibrator. If the water is close the arduino uno sends a Warning through

vibration. Water detection is done by Moisture Sensor.

CONCLUSION

Blind people that uses sensor technology to aid alertness and Movement
in blind. The blind can sense objects up to 70 Centimetres away and receive
feedback in the form of sound And vibration. At this point, it’s worth noting a
that the study’s Primary objective , which was to create and launch a smart is
walking stick for the blind, was fully achieved. The smart stick is a building a
block for the next generation of assistive technology that can help the visually
of impaired navigate both Indoor and outdoor environments safely. It is both
the effective And powerful. Within a three-meter range, it performs well In a
is detecting obstacles in the user’s direction. With Noticeable short response
time, this system provides a low- cost, dependable , lightweight, low-power,a
the a and robuse navigation solution. Despite being hard-wired with sensors in
and other parts, the system is lightweight. Ultrasonic Sensors with a large of a
the beam angle can detect a wide range of Obstacles. In the future, further of
the improvements will be made To enhance the system’s efficiency. Both in is
the include a global Positioning system(GPS) for determining the user’s by a
location And GSM modules for informing a parent or caretaker of the User’s
of the location. For ease of use, it should be able to handle a Variety of grips.
