3 GENERAL DESCRIPTION.
The memory matrix has a 768x576x12 (768x494x12 a 60 HZ) format with visualization in 256 levels of
grey.
To use the matrix better the sampling frequency is 15 MHZ with ¾ scanning. The duration of the horizon-
tal scanning is 51.2 µsec.

The device is equipped with outside connections through plug connectors (9 pin male, 9 pin female) and
BNC, specially labelled to distinguish video input and output.

From the compound video signal INPUT (connected to BNC1), the horizontal and vertical synchronisms
necessary for the formation of the pixel-clock are extracted.
The input video signal is digitalized in 8 bits after analogue conditioning and is sent to the arithmetic unit
input which carries out the function of RECURSIVE FILTER.

The memory OUTPUT available are as follows:

If the card is configured to function with a 50HZ (60HZ) monitor there is:

BNC2 an output at 625-50HZ(525-60HZ) as a work or memory channel (see page 8)

BNC3 an output at 625-50HZ(525-60HZ) as work channel
BNC4 an output at 625-50HZ (525-60HZ) as memory channel

If the card is configured to function with a 100HZ (120HZ) monitor there is:

BNC2 an output at 625-50HZ (525-60HZ) as work or memory channel (see page 8)

BNC3 an output at 625-100HZ (525-120HZ) as work channel
BNC4 an output at 625-100HZ (525-120HZ) as memory channel

These characteristics are also indicated, together with the model and serial number, on the label on the
back of the cover.

4 FILTERING.
The weight of the filters is fixed at 1/K for the new image and at (K-1)/K for the old one with K that can
assume the values : 2 , 4 , 8 , 16.

The reduction of photonic noise is equal to:

4,77 dB with K = 2
8,45 dB with K = 4
11,80 dB with K = 8
14,90 dB with K = 16

4.1 Direct and Filtered Fluoroscope.

Using the DIR, F4, F8 commands it is possible to choose from 5 systems:

0 = signal connected to GND

1 = signal open

FILTER DIR F4 F8
Filter OFF 0 X X
Filter K=2 1 1 1
Filter K=4 1 0 1
Filter K=8 1 1 0

6.1 Adjustment of Input Video

• Apply a 1Vpp video signal to the CX1 input on SBFM07 card.
• Set up measurement with an oscilloscope at J3 on SBFM07 card.
• Adjust PT1 on SBFM07 card to have the level of black at 75mV.
• Adjust PT2 on SBFM07 card to have the level of white at 2.7V.

6.2 Adjustment of Output Video

7 CENTERING THE IMAGE

In this paragraph the function of the SWITCH in position SW1 on SBFM-07 card is described.
The standard configuration of this component at delivery time is 0. Changing this position only results in
the movement of the image, allowing horizontal centring during inversion

8 JITTER REGULATION
Should there be jittering in the image, visible above all at the sides of the electronic circle and at the edges
of the square on the memory monitor (or when working with a “still” image), it is possible to make ad-
justments on trimmer PT3 on SBFM-07 card to correct this.
This trimmer is present exclusively for the regulation of jitter

9 JUMPERS

9.1 Jumper Positions on SBFM-07 Card

J2, J5 : Connectors supplied for TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE.

9.1.1.1 DYNAMIC RANGE

• JP1, JP2 → Using a combination of opened and closed bridges it is possible to choose between dif-
ferent settings of the gamma curve applied to the video signal input as illustrated in the following ta-
ble:

DYNAMIC RANGE JP1 JP2

1:2 OFF OFF
1:3 ON OFF
1:4 OFF ON
1:5 ON ON

9.1.1.2 VIGNETTING
• JP3, JP4 → Using bridges JP3 and JP4 VIGNETTING of the image is corrected:
ANTIVIGNETTING JP3 JP4
disable OFF OFF
low ON OFF
normal OFF ON
high ON ON

9.1.1.3 COMMAND CIRCUITS

• JP5 → The card can be supplied with input-output optoinsulated COMMAND CIRCUITS or with
logic inputs with pull-up resistance of 5Vcc and open-collector outputs. Based on the configuration of
the card bridge JP5 must be set as follows:
COMMANDS JP5

9.1.1.4 ELECTRONIC CIRCLE

• JP6, JP7 → Using JP6 and JP7 it is possible to regulate the dimensions of the ELECTRONIC CIR-
CLE as per the table below:
CIRCLE JP6 JP7
Max OFF OFF
Large ON OFF
Small OFF ON
Min ON ON

9.1.1.5 AUTOOFFSET
• JP8 → Activates or deactivates the AUTOOFFSET function. This function calculates the minimum
value of the image in a circular zone with the diameter of about 20 pixels less than the diameter of the
visualization circle. This value is subtracted from the converted image with a maximum correction of
12 %:
AUTOOFFSET JP8
Disable OFF
Enable ON

9.1.1.6 CONTROL ZONE

• JP9, JP10 → Through these jumpers it is possible to regulate the CONTROL ZONE. This corre-
sponds to the zone in which the video input signal is measured. The average value measured within
this zone is converted into analogue and is available on the connection connector. The dimension of
the zone is visible by simultaneously activating the rotation commands for about 2 seconds. The suc-
cessive activation will disable visualization.
ZONA KV JP9 JP10
max OFF OFF
large ON OFF
small OFF ON
min ON ON

• JP11 → Always open.

• JP12 → Always open. Closed simulates the activation of the FREEZE command every time the de-
vice is turned on.
• JP13 → Always open. Closed simulates the activation of DIR command.
• JP14 → Always open. Closed simulates the activation of EDGE command.
