Software, instructions that tell a computer what to do. Software comprises the entire set
of programs, procedures, and routines associated with the operation of a computer
system. The term was coined to differentiate these instructions from hardware—i.e., the
physical components of a computer system. A set of instructions that directs a
computer’s hardware to perform a task is called a program, or software program.
➢ Software art is a work of art where the creation of software, or concepts from software,
play an important role; for example software applications which were created by artists
and which were intended as artworks. As an artistic discipline software art has attained
growing attention since the late 1990s. It is closely related to Internet art since it often
relies on the Internet, most notably the World Wide Web, for dissemination and critical
discussion of the works.
Examples of Application Software

• Internet browsers like Firefox, Safari, and Chrome.

Menus and toolbars are the way users access commands in your VSPackage.
Commands are functions that accomplish tasks, such as printing a document, refreshing
a view, or creating a new file. Menus and toolbars are convenient graphical ways to
present your commands to users. Typically, related commands are clustered together on
the same menu or toolbar
Some well-known menu names are File, Edit, View, and Window.
There are various types of toolbars on a window:
• Application toolbar - Application bar is a control system that can be used to build a toolbar on
a Windows Phone application. Application bar can be considered as the main option to develop a fast

• Quick access toolbar - The Quick Access Toolbar is located to the right of the Microsoft Office.
