Corporate social responsibility is no longer defined by how much money a company
contributes to charity but by its overall participation in activities that improve people's lives.
Furthermore, Corporate Responsibility has emerged as an essential topic in the international
business community. There is growing recognition of the significant impact that private-sector
activities have on the workforce, customers, society, the environment, competitors, business
associates, investors, shareholders, governments, and other groups. It is also becoming
increasingly clear that organizations can contribute to their wealth as well as overall community
wealth by considering the impact their decisions have on the entire world. In connection, any
business corporation must practice social responsibility. It has been demonstrated that a company
can choose to focus its corporate social responsibility in a variety of ways. The environment is the
first area of emphasis in corporate social responsibility. Education, health, nutrition, and
employment are other areas that should be considered when developing corporate social
responsibility programs. "Social responsibility investment combines investors' financial goals
with their obligation and dedication to factors that ensure societal well-being, such as
environmentally friendly practices, economic growth, and societal justice." These elements are
not only aspects of corporate social responsibility, but also demonstrate a company's ethical
standards. It is unethical for some people to own so much and earn so much at the expense of other
members of society who are suffering. Companies that engage in environmentally degrading
practices that result in illnesses are also unethical. It can be concluded that social corporate
responsibility and upholding high ethical standards is not an option, but rather a requirement for
all businesses.
In connection, Nestle Philippines has proven that it had a good CSR over the years, as they
are very dedicated to community and nation-building through programs that assist the
underprivileged members of society. They have proven in terms of Agronomy assistance,
education and manpower management, community development, health and nutrition, and
environmental protection and preservation.

In connection, Nestle Philippines has been assisting coffee farmers throughout the country
by providing information on how to improve their crops. In addition, members of the company
visit these farmers regularly to reinforce the importance of good plantation management. Farmers
get better yields by improving coffee growing methods, which eventually helps increase the coffee
supply in the Philippines while also helping farmers increase their income.

Furthermore, in terms of education, Nestle is a supporter of the government's efforts to

address the shortage of classrooms in public schools. The Donate-a-Classroom Program
contributes to this advocacy. It also provides practical and theoretical training to selected students
to help them develop new skills. In addition, Nestle offers a Technical Skills Scholarship Program,
a two-year program that combines theoretical and hands-on training. This is being carried out in
collaboration with Don Bosco College in Canlubang, Laguna. Nestle also runs an Academic
Linkage Program, in which it provides training to selected students from educational institutions
such as De La Salle University, Dualtech, Meralco Foundation Institute, and Xavier University in
Cagayan de Oro.
Furthermore, nestle also creates programs that are relevant to the needs of the communities
in which it operates. For example, the Nestle Factory in Lipa, Batangas, runs a Cut & Sew
Livelihood Project, which provides job opportunities to community workers by fulfilling factory
orders for shoe covers, rags, and uniforms. It also has a Yard and Garden Livelihood Project that
serves unemployed barangay housewives in the area where the factory operates. This project
creates jobs through cut flower production and organic vegetable farming. A Suklay and a Gunting
can also be found in the same area. A project is being implemented that involves hands-on
hairdressing training for housewives. Furthermore, Under the Misis Kong Trainers Program,
selected spouses of employees are trained as trainers at the Nestle Cabuyao Factory. This program's
participants conduct livelihood workshops for other spouses and members of their communities.
A showcase for culinary lessons called Julius Maggi Kitchen, located in RockwellCenter, is a
venue for lifestyle improvement sessions, which is one way Nestle helps its consumers enjoy its
products. The Nestle Cagayan de Oro Factory supports the city government's Street Illuminations
Project by providing lights to improve visibility in the evenings and promote safety and security
in the neighborhood.

Nestle Philippines is a strong supporter of environmental protection and preservation. Its
dedication to sound environmental practices is reflected in its policy, the Nestle Environmental
Management System, which integrates all environmental initiatives into all aspects of business
operations. The company also has a company-wide Solid Waste Management Program, which
aims to reduce waste not only in factories and offices but also in employees' homes. The company
also runs the multi-award-winning Greening the Supply Chain program, which is a combination
of an outreach and education program aimed at encouraging and assisting its business partners in
developing and maintaining their environmental management systems. It is also an advocate for
clean air and conducts free Air Emission Testing on the vehicles of employees, business partners,
and community residents where the company operates.

With that, Nestle Philippines is considered a socially responsible company that is dedicated
to positively impacting individuals and families, communities, and the environment around the
world.
