Scholarships & Financial
Assistance
The following scholarships and financial aid scheme are available to eligible
Graduate students:
For Research Programme (PhD)
Research Scholarship
Lee Kong Chian Graduate Scholarship
President’s Graduate Fellowships
Commonwealth Scholarship
The maximum loan quantum is 90% of the tuition fees payable by Singapore
Citizens for the same course.
The following categories of graduate students are not eligible to apply for the TFL
scheme:

Research Scholarship
Eligibility
Applicants must be university graduates with at least a second class honours (Upper
Division) or its equivalent and have been admitted to or being assured of admission
to our fulltime Common Graduate Research Programme (CGRP).
Application Procedure
Applicants should indicate “Scholarship” under ‘Source of Finance’ when applying for
admissions to the research programme. Please provide a onepage writeup on why
you should be awarded a scholarship. The outcome will be made known at the same
time as the admission outcome.

Commonwealth Scholarship
Eligibility
The Scholarship is awarded to outstanding graduate students from Commonwealth
countries for research leading to a higher degree at the University. This Scholarship
is for new, incoming students who are not Singapore citizens or permanent
residents.
Application Procedure
Applicants should indicate “Commonwealth Scholarship” under ‘Source of Finance’
when applying to the research programme. Please provide a onepage writeup on
why you should be awarded a scholarship. The outcome will be made known
sometime in May.

Scholarship for Young Asian Academics
Eligibility
1. The scholarship is tenable for fulltime coursework programmes leading to the
degree of Master of Laws (LL.M.) or any of the specialist LL.M. degrees at this
University.
3. The scholarship is available for award to outstanding Asian applicants, except
Singapore citizens and permanent residents.
Terms of Award
There is no bond of obligation on the scholar to serve the University or in Singapore.
The scholarship will cover tuition fees.
Terms of award are subject to change without prior notice.

Ella Cheong LLM (Intellectual Property & Technology Law) Scholarship
Eligibility
Outstanding applicants of any nationality (including Singapore citizens and
permanent residents) may be awarded the Scholarship to pursue the LLM
(Intellectual Property & Technology Law) degree programme.
Applicants with Intellectual Property related or scientific background are preferred.
Terms of award
There is no bond of obligation on the scholar to serve the University or in Singapore.
The scholarship will cover tuition fees. The Scholarship is tenable only for the
Academic Year in which it is awarded.
The scholar cannot be a concurrent holder of any other form of free aid such as
grants, bursaries or scholarships without obtaining prior approval from the respective
awarding bodies for the concurrent holding of the awards.
