Chapter I

PROJECT OVERVIEW

This chapter discusses the Background of the Study, Conceptual framework,

Statement of the Problem, Significance of the Study, Scope and Delimitation, Definition

of Terms.

Background of the Study

Today’s world runs on computers. Nearly every aspects of modern life involves

computers in some form or fashion. As technology is advancing, the scale of Computer

use is increasing. Computer users include both corporate companies and individuals.

Computer are efficient and reliable; They ease people’s onerous jobs through software

and application specific to their needs offering convenience, Moreover, Computer allow

users to generate correct information quickly, hold the information so it is available at any

time.

Computer and Technology affect how we live work and entertain ourselves. From

voice-powered personal assistants like Siri, Alexa and Cortana to more underlying and

fundamental technologies such as behavioral algorithms, suggestive searches and

autonomously-powered self-driving vehicle boasting powerful predictive capabilities.

Computer System Servicing NC2. This Course is designed to develop knowledge, Skill,

and attitudes of a Computer Service Technician in accordance with industry standards. It

covers basic and common competencies such as installing, maintaining, configuring, and

11
Diagnosing computer system and networks. CSS NC2 Competencies has for COC

(Certificate of Competencies).

COC1: Install and configure computer System, COC2: Networking, COC3: Setup

Computer Server, and COC4: Maintenance.

A Computer is made up of combination of two Components, which is Hardware

and software. Both components are important and gave its own function and meaningful

usages. The simplest definition of hardware is the thing which we can touch and software

is the thing which we cannot touch but only feel.

NC2 is General Requirement and Procedures in Applying for Assessment and

Certification (National Certificate (NC) / Certificate of Competency (COC)).

Computer System Servicing NC2 is a Vocational Program that teaches students

how to install, Configure and maintain computer system and network. It develops students’

skills in diagnosis and troubleshooting of computer system, as well as in the performance

of computer operation.

This Program enhance a student’s ability in basic computer application program,

MS-DOS/ Windows and Linux installation and PC Software and hardware support. Also

covered in the program are simple Programming and creation of budget projection based

on department needs.

12
Conceptual Framework

This Conceptual Framework is the researchers’ own model illustrating variables

that specify the problems and gives direction of the study. It may be an adaptation of a

model in an early theory with modifications to suit the inquiry.

A Conceptual framework is a bit like a recipe or a blueprint. It provides an outline

of how to plan and conduct the research for the thesis, but it goes further than that by

also positioning such work within the larger field or research. Writing a conceptual

framework can not only help to guide the thesis to ensure that the research stays on track,

but it also helps to guide researchers or advisers who are analyzing the thesis.

In Figure 1, discusses on how our proposed system flows. The flow chart starts

when the student will use the application. The System will observe what the student is

doing in her activities then sends it into the database, then it will be passed on to the

satellite for Storage (cloud). The Storage can store the information for transmission. The

information will receive by the administrator. The Admin is the one who can receive

information and can see the Activities of the Student and The Teacher will assess the

Activities and Test of the Students and the Teacher will give grades.

Statement of the Problem

In the current times of technology advancement, an educator may become

interested in technology’s potential to transform the very nature of learning and may also

pay attention to future technologies with an eye towards their integration in classroom.

The Study intended to design and develop an AR-CSS of Data Center College of

the Philippines of Laoag.

1. What are the process involved in the existing Assessment review computer

servicing system?

2. What are the problems encountered in the existing Assessment review

computer servicing system?

3. What are the features and security control measures that can be incorporated

in the design and development of the proposed Assessment review computer

servicing system?

Objective of the Study

The main objective of the study is to develop ARCSS web and mobile base E-

Learning that can be used in teaching.

In order to achieve the general objective, the following specific objectives of the

study are emanated.

1. To be able to identify the process involved in the Assessment review computer

servicing system.

15
2. To be able to identify the problems encountered in Assessment review

computer servicing system.

3. To be able to identify the features and security and control measures that can

be incorporated in the design and development of the proposed in Assessment

review-computer servicing system.

Significance of the Study

Students of Data Center College of the Philippines. The Students of DCCP S will a

subject of any Computer Subject will be able to use the system to gain knowledge through

computer – aided instruction and the same time enjoy learning and assessment

experiment in the combined form of education and entertainment.

Instructor. Instructors will be able to use the system in promoting a computer – based

assessment for the Students; this will improve substantial teaching experience.

Data Center College of the Philippines. To provide high quality education that

enhances the skills of student’s competitiveness here and abroad and to produce

students with competence that will lift up the name of the school.

Researcher. This will serve as their first step in gaining confidence in future projects. It

will enhance their knowledge in accomplishing this study. They will be able to know all

the important aspects of proposing a study. Furthermore, will help them to develop their

leadership skills. They will be able to know the essence of being responsible learners.

16
Future Researcher. If they will propose an Augmented Reality System, it can be one of

their guides in their study. Future Researchers as it will serve as a future reference on

interactive Computer Servicing topics.

Scope and Limitations

This Study is about the Augmented Reality of Computer Servicing System of Data

Center College of the Philippines, Laoag City. It will help the Students Learn with the

Specific Lessons or Competencies. It includes the following: (a) Install and configure

Computer System, (b) SET-UP Computer Network, (c) SET-UP Computer Servers, (d)

Maintain and Repair Computer Systems, (e) Computer Repair, (f) Computer Virus

Removal, (g) Computer Clean-up, (h) Website Creation, Maintenance, (i) Scan Computer

Part.

Definition of Terms

Augmented Reality: A technology that superimposes a computer-generated image on a

user’s view of the real world, thus providing a composite view.

Virtual Reality: The computer-generated simulation of a three-dimensional image or

environment that can be interacted within a seemingly real or physical way by a person

using special electronic equipment, such as a helmet with a screen inside or gloves fitted

with sensors.

Database: A structured set of data held in a computer, especially one that is accessible

in various ways.

Computer Based Assessment: Computer based assessment is the practice of giving

quizzes and tests on the computer instead of using pencil and paper. Computer based

assessment is already used widely in many different environments. For example, the last

time you took a written driver’s test you probably used a computer terminal. This type of

testing is also being used in schools, starting as early as third grade, often to deliver

standardized tests, as well as in colleges and universities and in employee training

programs.

Computer: An electronic device for storing and processing data, typically in binary form,

according to instructions given to it in a variable program.

Computer Servicing: This is designed to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes of a

computer service technician in accordance with industry standards. It covers basic and

common competencies such as installing, maintaining, configuring and diagnosing

computer systems and networks.
