Abstract (Summarizing the new concept of the lesson.)

Plants are useful to people. They provide us with the
food that we consume as well ad different kinds of
materials.
With all the things that plants do for us, we must take
very good care of them.
Plants consist of roots, stem, leaf, flower and seed.
There are two different root systems, the fibrous roots
and taproot system.
So here are some guidelines in taking good care of the
plants:
 Protects plants from harm and injury. Encourage
other people to do the same.
 Provide plants with fertile soil to grow.
 Water plants sufficiently every day.
 Make sure plants get enough sunlight.
 Keep plants free from pest. It is best to use
organic pesticides.
 Pull put weeds around the plants. Weeds
compete with plants for nutrients in the soil.
 With adult supervision, build fences around
small young plants.
 Trim your plants as needed.
 Use organic fertilizers to make plants grow.
 If trees are cut down, replace them by planting
new ones. By doing so, the number of plants will
remain sufficient for us and our needs.
 In conclusion, we can take care of plants by
providing them fertile soil, sufficient water, and
sunlight.
The teacher will ask: But why do we need to
know these guidelines in taking good care of the
plants?
 Plants helps us and provide the food that we eat
and the things that we need in every day living.
For example, your wooden chairs. It is made up
of big trees. Your bags, it is made up of fibers of
an abaca. Your paper, pencil, and the food that
you eat.

The teacher will show two set of different

pictures of plants. The first one will be a healthy
plant and the second one will be a dying one.

Call a random student and ask him or her what

did he or she observed from the two plants.

 The first plant is dying because of its lack of

water and soil.
 The second one is healthy because it was taken
good care.
